I regret that I've only been googling without watching your clip. It took more than half a year to be confident that the RTX-3060 is okay for HP TG-01 with a 400W PSU. I'm really grateful to you.
I am running the RTX3060 with an i5-12500/Z690 with 2xSSD, 2xHDD, 1xDVD drive & have run 3DMark & Passmark benchmarks with a maximum 300.8W power draw through an RM550x PSU. This system at idle is only drawing around 85-95W. Happy days!
to further reinforce the point that this is safe hp sells the hp pavilion with an rtx 3060,i5 10400f,500 gig ssd,16gb ddr4 ram, and that system comes with the 400 watt psu. so its safe..
There needs to be more videos talking about this Everyone thinks u need more wattage then u actually do i have a 400watt gold rating psu and using 10th gen intel 10400f with an rtx 3060 and my tdp is 320 under max load tested max graphics on apex, siege, and back for blood no problems at all. And dlss lowers the power draw even more Great video keep it up 👍
The scary thing is that on the websites where you can buy the card, I says that you need 170 watts which is not possible with a 6 to 8 pin connector plus a pcie port which equals 150 watts. Kinda strange that it works well but thank you mate, even 2 years later
I've had zero issues with my HP Omen, and mine's been ON for over a few months(I just don't turn it off, it gets rebooted daily). Love the 3060, it's all I needed. I did do the fan mod, but with 2 smaller fans. I do use MSI Afterburner when gaming, for a light OC, and custom fan speed, makes quite a difference vs stock.
i have Ryzen 5600 and power supply 310 Watt 80 plus gold.. i made Undervolt 1.10 on CPU and 0.850v 1890mhz GPU in my EVGA 3060, the System is really stable now and power consuption is really low, even the temperatures are amazing after remove the dust on the cpu s fan, always cold, never above 65 degrees in game 1440P, Ray tracing and ultra details. before to make undervolt the system was a little bit instable in game and sometimes i saw some glitches. i saved 200 euros for 500 watt official by HP and now PC works amazing. thank you for solved my dubt! yesterday i was to the PC shop assistance and the guy advise me to sell 3060 and buy a new computer.. sick man.
Thank you for this video. I just purchased an EVGA RTX 3050 for my TP01 HP (with a 400W PSU) and was worried I would have to undervolt/underclock the 3050 to use it safely.
@@SuperBloder : Yes. So far, the 3050 has been working great with the TP01/400W PSU. However, I did have two problems initially. The 8pin power connector to the card sticks out further than the case, so the left side case does not close all the way. Second, the 3050 does produce a decent amount of heat when under full load, so the TP01 case needs more ventilation/cooling. This may be different though for different model HP/Dell machines.
@@AndrewsRU-vid im thinking about buying a 3060. Would you think i can have heating problems too? Im do not know nothing about these pin and conectors, my friend that builded my PC. Now im trying to understand all thise features 😂😂😂😂 So, do you think its okay running 3060 i5 9400f with cv 450w corsair? I think so, by my researches 🤣🤣
@@SuperBloder : I think you will be fine running a 3060 with a 9400f on a 450W power supply, as long as you do not plan to overclock the 9400f or the 3060, as overclocking will cause them to consume more power. The 3060 card does require a power connection to the power supply, normally an 8 pin (6+2 pin) connector/cable. Check your Corsair power supply first. Make sure it has one of those type of power cables. If you are not sure how to check, ask your friend who built the PC. They should know or can help you. In addition, make sure the 3060 card you purchase also has the 8 pin power connector and not something bigger (like a 12 pin power connector or an 8 pin plus second 6 pin power connector). If it does, that is fine. Just confirm first that your Corsair power supply also has that type of power cable as well. For the heat, it will depend on the size of your computer case, how many fans it has installed, and how much gaming you will do. It is not required, but ideally you want at least one intake fan and one exhaust fan on your computer case. This is especially true if it is a small case and you plan on doing a lot of gaming. If your PC has just the one exhaust fan, check with your friend who built your PC about adding an intake fan. They may be able to help with that. Good luck and have fun.
@@AndrewsRU-vid ohhh im almost sure my cv450 has this cable connector (6+2). Thanks for all those advices. Im not planning to overclock any of my pc parts because i dont even know how to do this, and i think with this config on stock conditions will be enough to me. Hope it will be to my Corsair too 😂😂😂 Thanks again bro, you helped me a lot, you cant even imagine how much.
I saw a Lenovo on black Friday with rtx 3060 12gb and a processor i5-12400F with power supply 380w, in others videos I was thinking that's ridiculous a small power supply on that pc and now I'm thinking different
Good video! im still inline for a 3060 ti at evga, i do like that they have a line. Snagged the new 6700 XT from AMD on Launch day. The TDP on I7 10700 is misleading, on boost it can hit 200 watts. But the advantage on the Dell system is the 500 watt PS is 500 watts 12v. On normal PS 500/360 would be split, making CPU and GPU upgrades very limited.
I'm tempted into getting a 2060 for this pre-built . Just trying to make sure that the power supply I have is enough. it is a 400w and the only changes I've made to the desktop was add a 2tb HDD. Will it be safe to replace the GPU with the storage space modification I've made?
Hey man I know this is an old video, but I just got my 3060 ZOTAC rtx 3060, with an HP TG01 and 310 Watt supply, I tried my hardest getting a 400W/500W PSU from HP but it's nowhere to be found in france, I'd run it with a ryzen 5 3400g, do you think it's doable and what would be the risks?
@@HardwareSense The main thing that kinds of sets me off is how expensive it is, I wouldn't mind spending some money for a better psu but the HP ones are too expensive for what it is, my income is also pretty slow for fun things like gaming and such which is why It's either I save up for a new pc or just don't use the gpu at all Is 310 Watt really risky and my gpu might die or would it just overheat and occasionnaly shut down?
I got a RTX 3060 OC 12GB without planning. Came across by accident. Seemed like a good deal. I have a Dell XPS 8900 with GTX 980 with 460w PS, I did have to get a 2 6 pin to an 8 pin adapter but it worked otherwise. I was nervous about running it though. This video does put me at ease a bit...glad to hear people with 400W supplies and lower are running this card without issues. Card performs perfectly. Thanks for the vid!
I just bought a version of the hp pavilion with i7-10700F and RTX 2060 super. The 400w internal power supply is sufficient? I have read that both this video card and this cpu consume a lot when gaming.
@@sweet_jonson1612 I just ordered a dell g5 with an i5 10400f and rtx 2060 super for $1020. Did you choose the PSU because in the G5 you can't get anything lower than 500watts with the rtx 2060 super.
Hello, I currently have a gtx 1060 3gb and want to upgrade to a rtx 3060 oc 12gb, my cpu is a Ryzen 5 3600, 16gb RAM, do u think I will be able to run all that with a EVGA 500 W 80+ Bronze PSU?

Hello, I have the HP TG01-2170m with a ryzen 7 5700g, currently looking to upgrade to a 3060/3060ti, my pc has a 400w PSU, will it be able to handle that
I wanna get an rtx 3060 msi 3 x ventus, and my psu its 550w,and my cpu its ryzen 7 2700x stock no overcloacking! My psu will be enough?Or i need to change it?cuz many ppl i asked told me about random bluescreens i will get! Thanks
Hi! There is a topic that very confuses me. For the Dell G5 pre-built system (with an enough PSU), I can upgrade whatever type of GPU such as RTX 20xx or 30xx provided that its length fits in the case ? Or it has to be a specific brand of GPU such as MSI or EVGA ? I'm afraid of BIOS issues if I just buy a random GPU and put it into this Dell's mainboard.
Any GPU is possible as long as it fits and as long as the PSU is enough to power it. The 360w one is good up to 3060, and the 500w one is good up to 3070.
@@HardwareSense it is new card pcie4 , do not know if it will fit or no , i am sure that 3060 will fit perfectly by size but not sure if 3070 will be compatible
@@Altohamy Don't worry about the PCIe version, only if physically the card can fit, if you can find small 3070, it will be better, but if not, stick with 3060ti or 3060
So assuming the 3060 works in the 8940 then my 2060 should be fine ? I ordered the 8940 today and then saw it only had a 360watt supply and almost canceled my order.
Hey I’m really hoping you see this! I have the dell g5 5000 and I bought a 3050 to upgrade as I only have a 1650 super at the moment. Where do you plug in the 8 pin to 6 pin adapter? Right now it’s plugged into the power supply, do I need to remove the power supply then remove the cord to change my gpu?
@@HardwareSense The only cable I see is going into the power supply. I Could just be looking at the wrong area. Do you have a business email i could send pictures so you could help me? your the only person I have seen who has the exact pc as mine who has upgraded their GPU.
@@HardwareSense Thanks, i just took a look at your Power Supply Upgrade video of the dell g5. The power supply that you replaced is what mine looks right now, it only has the 6 pin and not both the 6 and the 8. So I am not sure even if i get a 6 pin to 8 pin adapter that i can use the 3050 card because its going right into the power supply. Hope you know what i mean.
Thank you for the information. What about an RTX 3060 Ti? Is that GPU compatible with a 460w PSU? I just bought a Dell Vostro 5890 for $470. The desktop came with a Max Output PSU of 460w I believe, and it comes with an 8-pin connection. I don't mind waiting another 6 months to upgrade from my GTX 750 Ti to either a RX 6600, RX 6600 XT, RTX 3060, or RXT 3060 Ti (if it's compatible that is, as all the other 3 cards should be). Some say I don't need to upgrade, some say the 460w power supply will be at its limit, I don't know what to think anymore. It would be cool if I could get one of those Nvidia cards in the next 6 months for around $350; I want to try the DLSS everyone is talking about.
@@HardwareSense I am from the States, but I haven't been able to find an RTX 3060 Ti for less than $600 usd that isn't sold out. Maybe the RTX 3060, but not the Ti version. I first wanted to make sure that 460w was enough for the 3060 and 3060 Ti before going through with anything. I don't upgrade GPUs often, so I wanted to get the best sub 450w GPU I could get, as to not upgrade again for a while.
Hello, I need some help. I'm looking at a Lenovo tower computer and it has a i5 11500 processor with a 3060 8gb with 16gb of ram. How much watts will it use and will would 400w psu be enough?
@@HardwareSense One last thing. The prebuilt im looking at ha the specs I mentioned, but it says the cooling fans are 150 watts?? I dont know if that is for all the fans or not. Is that not way to much?
@@HardwareSense So a 3060 uses around 150-170 watts and my cpu uses around 60-85, and if cpu radiator is 150W and the monitor. Would 400W not be enough, because it says that the cooling system is 150 watts. Sorry if I sound confusing because Im new to this
@@jaavree3320 The 150W on the CPU radiator is the rating of the radiator, it means that it can dissipate up to 150W, it is not that it will draw 150W from the PSU.
Thanks for another great video. We builders can find a decent case for$60. I can’t understand why these prebuilts are always in abysmal cases. Seems like they waste more more money designing an inadequate case than they would just buying a decent case in bulk from a case manufacturer.

@@wesleychef Alright, a few things before all that. How do you determine that your CPU is bottlenecking? Ryzen Master can help with the OC, but I have a few concerns, one with Ryzen second gen, OC-ing will reflect on much higher temps and much more power drawn, so the payback benefit might not be worth the whole drill, especially with a smaller case like that and the motherboard in it.
@@HardwareSense I was looking at the r meter in iracing it was running at max for my FPS it was at 12.5 this is an iracing thing .. anyway I’ll record exactly what the cpu is doing in a program made for that .. if I am maxed out I’ll be saving for a new mother board case and psu 🤷🏻

I am quite surprised by how little difference between 2060 and 3060. Have you tried comparing the 360w PSU with RTX3060 vs 500w PSU with RTX3060 in terms of fps? Theoretical they should be the same if both are not over limit, but it would be interesting to see that

Thank you for a very informative video. I'm in Australia and GPU's are pretty expensive. I purchased my Dell G5 with a rtx 1650 super with 4GB of vram and a 500w PSU. Like a lot of people I was told in the comments sections of other videos on YT that various GPU's are incompatible with G%'s because 500W won't power them. I have also read that the length of various GPS's is an issue if they are longer than 9 inches. Clearly that is not the case, at least as far as the EVGA RTX 3060 is concerned. I don't know how much they cost in your part of the world but they are $1100 - $1200 Australian dollars here. Being the tight-arse that I freely admit to being, I have been thinking about picking up a used card from someone who is upgrading. I'm assuming you own a computer components related business and I was wondering is it possible for you to give us poor souls a list of at least a few GPU's that are compatible with a Dell g5 ? I'm looking at going somewhere from 8GB upwards with a nvidia chipset. I've started dabbling in machine learning and I'm told Nvidia is best for that.
