This pianist really has something to say!!! He has an understanding of music making and musical structure that enables him to actually convey more expression, to tell us more than most other pianists of today, who cut corners through the music, choosing the most obvious ways without taking much notice of interesting things passing by. Bozhanov permits himself to be surprised by the music, as you should do when wandering through a known but far from fully explored magnificent landscape.
his tone, technique and especially his clarity are truly gorgeous and can compare with great pianists from the past. sadly, there is always something in his playing that strikes me as unnatural and mannered. I could be wrong of course.
