Such an elegant skater, smoothness, style, power and pure energy on the ice. There are lots of haters saying all sorts of silly things about him, but nobody can argue with the facts...he is the best.
***** And he didn't win the gold in Vancouver with this program? Altough he didn't put a foot wrong? Who are they kidding? Here even the commenters said that this is mastery in program construction, with technical and artistic elements and after Vancouver, he suddenly doesn't have artistry, he became "just jumps and nothing more". Just unbeliavable, what happens when a country wants gold with all costs, how can the media and a whole country trample on a legendary skater, just to win and justify afterwards an olympic gold medal. After watching this performance and that in Vancouver, together with the short, I can honestly say, that there's no way, Evan could win the gold. NO WAY. And interesting enough, the judging system was quickly changed after Vancouver. Ha, ha.
Evgeni is a legend to be sure, but this program had no transitions, no choreography, piss poor composition and use of ice, and was slower and had less deep edges than his past work. I'm glad the judges in Vancouver penalized him for this and rewarded Takahashi's superior performance quality and speed, and Lysacek's superior program composition and crispness of execution. Jumps and cockiness aren't all the sport is about. In fact, just four years later Plushenko would go on to outdo his 2010 self with his masterful interpretation in his tango de roxanne SP. THAT is vintage plushenko. Tango amore and concierto de aranjuez are not.
@@fandreea the fix was in, (says this American). Judging was biased and political. All about the media and money. Because that's the way it works here. And in the Olympics overall, more or less. This year was a particularly bad example.
Not that there aren't others.. After this year, (2022) I've about had it with the Olympics myself. Probably won't follow or watch much of them again.. Doubtful. As a matter of fact, I had never seen any of Mr Plushenko's performances ever at all until after this year's Winter Olympics in February. I barely knew who he was. Then I heard him mentioned in a sports news video clip and he captured my interest. I learned all I could about him and binge- watched videos of his programs and performances. The first one dropped my jaw!! Now I'm like a zealous disciple. He's amazing; an incredible skater. The greatest!! He also just happens to be one of the best looking men I have ever seen.. jmo.
