This performance is spectacular! To be able to come back to form after so many injuries and surgeries speaks volumes of this man's courage, strength, and passion. Zhenya forever-- incomparable-- he gives his heart with every performance. There is no one like him, and never will be.

Charisma... so that's what that's called? I'm too busy being mesmerized by his skating. :-P Speaking as an American, I came away from Vancouver believing him to be a sore loser that diminished the fact it was our first men's gold. Four years later, I end up falling in love with him during his free skate and I've supported him since. Even went back to the 2010 programs, which I don't know if I even saw at all, and just about ate my words with the short program. Spectacular to the point I was almost crying
Yeah, he never once complained in his long career about losing before and after Vancouver....and there, I must agree with him. An Olympic champion with no quads, clean, but no quads and not nearly the level Plushenko skates...well. It's in the past now. Unfortunately Sochi was pretty nasty, a bolt supporting his spine broke ...he goes in surgery again on 2 March, his doctors said he will probably have difficulties walking afterwards...I am praying every day for him to be ok. I'm glad that some of you, who judged him after Vancouver came to your senses and see him now the way he is...the legend of figure skating and a kind, warmhearted man, with a wonderful sense of humor, who had a very hard childhood and life.
You both say everything I think and feel about Plushenko. I follow him closely right before 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Coincidentally I found a video in RU-vid about he winning the Russian Nationals and qualifying for the Olympics after a long break he took after winning his gold in Torino. I read about him, his life, and just have to say he is an incredible athlete. For me the best skater of all time.

I found most of times the commentators do like him. As professionals who know the sport technically their out spoken admiration truly means a lot! Hope one day someone will make a movie about him, not just a documentary full of interviews but a proper drama. It would be a hell of a movie!
He really should win another Olympic gold medal. Look at today's young skaters, they are nothing compare to the legend. Hope he could physically get the best when he enters the 2014 Olympic.
