How can you miss a Man so much that you never met or knew? Eddie Van Halen Is That Man. You'll be in the hearts and minds of millions forever. God blessed us with Eddie Van Halen.
I think because us who play or love music can remember when EDDIE 1st touched our souls. A genuine soul, kind, funny and absolutely loved his life. Always smiling when he performs. I look at my 5150 original amps, and have been chasing his tone for years. Ed carries on in Wolfgang and his music. RIP EVH, you are one of a kind
@@kenmanor5476 he certainly turned the guitar world upside down on their ears everybody was racing trying to do what he could do. He just always was an upbeat friendly guy and loved what he did and we felt that. He left a mark that can never be erased.
As did I cry and I didn’t realize how much I’d miss seeing Van Halen in concert - I’m 54 and my first tour watching them was in ‘81 on the fair warning WDFA tour ( I was 12 years old) and never missed a tour since ( eveb the Us Festival in’83) all the way to 2015 in October at the Hollywood Bowl - RIP Edward Van Halen
As a recovering alcoholic of almost 23 yrs and Eddie being basically my favorite all time guitar player. I have to say how much I love his speech. God makes us musicians. He made us crazy enough to sit in rooms for hours and play the same thing over and over and over until we got it right and then we would move on to the next riff. I started playing almost 40 yrs ago. I still love to play to this day. I love to sit with my guitar at least once a day and just play. Its therapeutic and I love it.
Why does everyone in recovery HAVE to start off telling us this info? How does any of YOUR problems with alcohol have ANYTHING to do with anything in this video?! Go to a meeting for that particular attention, bud.
@@boofert.washington2499 Bro what in the actual fuck are you talking about. Like half of his speech was him talking about how he has been sober and what has kept him sober. I think its you needs to go to a meeting because are deluded buddy.
I think the more time passes we will all really realize even more just how special this cat was. The ripple effect is infinite. He has touched millions and millions of people. God could come down n say I'll make you 15 years old again but your life at 15 would start at 2008. I would say get lost. Keep your flying cars, phones n technology. I saw Van Halen from their earliest days all the way through. I win big-time. There's no comparison.
I have been a fan of Van Halen since I heard the first few notes of jump... I was hooked and a Van Halen fan for life!! I'm 53 years old and Eddie has always been my favorite guitar player. He influenced so many others to pick up and play. You ask some in the business today who were their influences growing up and I guarantee Eddie is at the top of their list!! Who else could play with a cordless drill and make it sound absolutely incredible!!! He really was a God and a guitar hero to millions of fans... Sadly I only saw Van Halen once live but it's a concert I'll never forget!! Listening to him give this speech makes me miss him that much more!! He had a huge heart and he really loved his son and family.... Eddie Van Halen will be forever missed from his lyrics, to his undeniable stage presence to his ridiculous talent on the guitar not to Mention changing the way it's played to his own line of guitars and amps.... Many guitar players have come and gone, but there will never be another Hendrix, Clapton or Edward Ludwig Van Halen.... It is still so difficult to believe he's been gone for over 2 years.... Seems like a really bad dream I can't wake up from.... Thank you sir for the theme songs to lives of loyal fans such as myself that will live on forever!!! You're gone Eddie but you will NEVER be forgotten..... RIP......
I may be old, but I got to see the best bands ever! I'm 59, and I've seen so many great concerts in my life, and Van Halen was one of my favorites. I remember when their first album was released and eruption blew everyone away, I saw Van Halan from David Lee to Sammy Eddie did a solo like no one else you never knew what he would come up with not to be a depressing but with all of his addictions cigarettes was the one he could not kick and during his concerts he would blow smoke rings and always have one lit and that is what caused his death he's sadly missed, but he gave us so much he was a legend.
He had the whole package. There's blisteringly fast players out there, that can't write a decent song. Ed's riffs, his rhythmic sensibilities, and of course his soloing....man, he had it all!
🎶🤘God did bless us with Eddie. And Eddie blessed us with Wolfgang. I'm sure he is one proud dad watching Wolfie do what he's doing. Thank you Eddie for years and years of music. Many late nite drives to the music store for either a CD or guitar strings or whatever. Thank you to all of the ladies in his life for keeping him alive enough to receive this award. And many others. He ran a ship that I'm proud to have sailed on for almost 40 yrs. On that ship was liquor and women... Adult party favors. Only in the captains quarters... And always promised.. good times. Scratch that. Great times. Eddie you changed my life. You made me want to listen to music. Play the guitar and associate with people who did the same. I met my girlfriend at your concert. My dog has a women and children 1st sweater. I wear a fair warning hoodie. And I've owned at least 5 eruption inscripted boxer briefs.. It's my duty to inform y'all I don't own any as we speak. But I'm working on it. Eddie .You don't know it.. but you basically adopted me at the age of 15. And never looked back. I miss you. The world misses you. And I wish you a peaceful rest. You deserve it.. I love you Eddie. Hopefully we meet again.. thanks for the time.. Gus Garcia. Pueblo Colorado 🎶🎵
From his smirk and his iconic jump to his guitar. We have all wanted to be him and play like him. We til this day hear the songs on the radio and it doesn't matter if it's Dave or Sammy. We still sing to the songs and play air guitar and dream we are part of the band. Thank you Mr. Eddie Van Halen aka Guitar God for your talent.
He deserved this more than anything. He was willing to take chances with his guitar and gave us such music as we never heard. I never knew him but he was a friend to everyone who loves music. Your job is done and done well. Rest well and thank you.
Thankyou very much for this. Of all the greats weve lost, his sound, his technique, his writing and his wonderful smile, Eddie you are a KING amongst the greats.
It’s really a shame that some people in the music industry have never heard of EVH. Part of music history for eternity. Thanks for sharing your gift and blessing us with a lifetime of memories. You touched so many lives. Miss you 😢
Damn, I don’t know the right phrasing to say but I miss him being alive?! Never met him. Can watch vids of him. Can listen to him. Just wish he wasn’t gone. R.I.P. EVH! 🎸
I'm so glad this came into my algorithm it's fantastic. RD Jr is a badass phenomenal actor and like Eddie overcame his addictions. Yes the king is gone but not forgotten.
miss EVH and his smiling face!! Aint nobody can come close, musically, to what he did! Nor any rock star as humble! As some other rockers attest to his signature sound and style, "Eddie would play my guitar through my gear like EVH does, and then he handed me back my guitar, and I sounded nothing like EVH. It was him and his magic!"
I had the same reaction! One of my favorites of ALL time! Being a player for over 5 decades myself he was always one of my heroes next to Mr Les Paul and Jeff Beck ALL innovators and creators of things musically, tonally, and technically that changed the music world! RIP EVH and Lester! Great repost!
Eddie Van Halen would rather get this type of award than some Grammy or some critics award . He loved his CREEM reader's polls or guitar magazine polls .
What a shooting star of a legend. Literally reinvented what everyone thought was the limits of electric guitar playing in the mid to late 70s, carved the way into the 80s.... And the rest is frankenstrat history. RIP EVH.
Wouldn't that be one hell of a jam session? That would be so hot it start a camp fire like the one on stage behind him, but only bigger. Thank you EVH. Rest in peace my friend rest in peace.🎵🎸🎶
Eddie had amazing musical abilities, as do many, but he was just as human as you and I. If he weren't human, he'd still be here, right? He is, however, with the ONE and only God that gave him life, both physical and spiritual. Rest in peace Eddie!
We miss you Eddie, sorry about the sound quality for this you should not have to have your history explain in such a manner but I’m sure whoever put this together wanted to do their best.
I've been searching for this clip for so long. Thank you for uploading this video.❤ Eddie really deserves this award. He really revolutionized the way of guitar playing. I miss him so much ❤
god i feel blessed to have been a teenager from late 70s to 80s this guy when my friend called me and said listen to this it was eddie playing there first album i was like what the f--k! how does he play like that
Hard to believe that such an iconic and supremely talented musician could nevertheless manage to be so modest. Aside from Chuck Berry and Jimi Hendrix, I don't know of any another guitarist who reinvented the way the instrument is played the way he did. Undoubtedly the most original, influential and innovative rock guitarist of his generation. I don't even play guitar, and yet he's inspired me so much musically. RIP, Eddie. You were a hero of our time. #EVH
I give thanks but I was born in error that I got to see Edward Van Halen from the beginning I was career to the end of his life the greatest guitar player to ever strap it up and he rest in peace Eddie
I'm so honored to own a EVH stripe Frankensteinguitar,, just holding it u know the man knew what he was doing,, thanks for sharing ur gift to us all Mr EVH n ur brother Al not bad on the drums either
R.I.P. Eddie! Miss you so damn much!! You're the ONLY musician I cried over! Wolfgang is a talented musician!! You'd be happy to know, he's got the World by it's tail!! ✨🎶🎸=M=W=\//-/=🎸🎶✨
In the past couple years we've lost 2 true kings of the music world,......Neil Peart and Eddie. They both had a huge influence on me and it not only sucks to lose them but it also makes me feel old. 😞
