UPDATE August 7th, 2014:
Hey everyone! So I found this clip over a century ago somewhere on Rangerboard. I was relatively new to RU-vid at the time and being a cool, angry teenager, I thought I'd upload this. At the time, the Power Rangers, let alone David Yost or Jason Frank, were nowhere near touring the convention circuit and thus fans were left to speculate. I'm leaving this up because it's nice to see the cast of our favorite show goof off, but I can say with certainty: No one was flipping anyone off.

This small clip was filmed during the second season of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. It's mainly just them screwing around and hanging out in between takes, but this video has some infamy due to Jason David Frank (aka Tommy the Green Ranger) flipping off David Yost (Billy the Blue Ranger). You can't see it clearly, but you can see something that resembles a hand-finger-thing in the shadow. Awesome. Look for it during the video.

The expression change from forced smile to sympathetic frown on Thuy's face when David Yost was getting bullied and clearly is starting to lose his temper at 1:05. Damn, her expression says a million words. She didn't like what was going on when her co-star was being mistreated for being gay. RIP Thuy Trang.

It seems as if Jason and David got along great in the later years; there is a video here on RU-vid called "My Morphing Christmas" where Jason gives David a very genuine hug (which David immediately accepts with obvious delight), and Jason and David have done several public speeches alone together and seemed 100% comfortable with each other and smiled at each other, and David called Jason a "good friend" when Jason had died. All of those things strongly indicate that they really did end up as friends.

They got along very well later in their careers, as far as I know. They did several public speeches together only with each other, and David seemed 100% comfortable around Jason, so I would guess that Jason probably apologised for his past behaviour.

Billy was, and still is my fav ranger. Keep ya head up, homie. I didn't know Tommy aka Green ranger, was an asshole like that. Dude was all in the video, and called David "Gayvid". David's expression changed quick, as soon as 'Tommy' went on the cam.

There was. I’m sure the payment issues, then firing of Jason, Trini, and Zach, and Billy dealing with homophobia on set is enough to make an episode, and I’m sure it’s more to talk about.

lol...no they ARE NOT. Its quite well know JDF made David's life a living hell for being gay. That is why David quit the show. Several cast members have admitted seeing David being called slur words for being gay. Specifically Walter Jones (black ranger) and Amy Jo Johnson (pink ranger) admitted they witnessed him being picked on daily.

JDF is a walking middle age with his ridiculous tattoos and forced 'loud' personality. he makes guy fieri look like the zenith of dignity. I could totally see the Tommy character becoming like that and Jason becoming a genuine stoic hero like austin st john in real life

JDF does seem pretty arrogant. I can understand why (imagine if YOU were the green ranger that kicked butt and stuff lol) As a kid, I idolized the green ranger, but as an adult, when I see JDF trash talking his former colleagues in interviews, I tend to look down on it. The originals were good people, I'm sure of it. Even ASJ.

No you got it wrong. gay guy was big guy. The homophobia he went through was from JDF and executives thinking a gay guy couldn't be a superhero. It was definitely not the whole cast and they were not complacent. Walter and Austin both stood up for him multiple times. JDF however did make fun of him. It sucks he had to go through that at all. And the cast couldn't really get into an argument when they were being recorded.

I loved the shadow of the middle finger on Billy's face. Then when the camera turned to the guy in the white shirt, you'll see Jason David Frank's eyes look away from the camera (nervous smile, like "Oh shit, um, hehe") and onto the guy in the white shirt.

ok guys im not taking any one side but the so called middle finger flashed at billy at 1:04 is someone pointing at the putty entering the room and it sounds like hes giving a low down of whats gana happen in the scene. sure jdf may have annoyed david as him and trini where being talked to and no no one said gayvid it was david use your brines this stuff was taped for relese as behind the scenes footage for a spechel this stuff was edited so im sure this would have hit the cutting room floor

If you pause the video when the shadow is on his head, you can clearly see that it is, in fact, the index finger. I had to go back and pause it to see. Look at the outline at exactly 1:05. It is someone's left index finger raised upwards, as though someone were talking and 'making a point'.

@phoenixhunters this was a long time ago. david yost & jason frank buried the hatchet. they cleared up everything & miss conceptions at the afo 2010. they are cool with each other now. plus Yost did get some revenge by giving out embarrassing pictures of JDF at the afo 2010 show & embarrassing JDF.

Honestly, if you just stand by and watch someone get bullied for whatever reason, you're just as bad as the bully. Unless you would be put in physical danger if you stood up for said individual, not doing anything is wrong.

Melvin Guillard current UFC 155 lbs fighter is a friend of Jason David Frank. He said one time he did set a MMA training camp up at Greg Jackson's (Where Georges St-Pierre, Rashad Evans, Nate Marquardt, & etc.. train at) to help JDF. Jason David Frank no showed.

I'm 27 and grew up on the original MMPR. Had a MMPR birthday party when I turned 10. So anyhow, watched the clip and having no bias towards anyone on the cast , it was definitely Jason (Tommy) who was waving a pen or something. Doesn't look like the middle finger just a pencil or pen. Trying to annoy David (Billie). Also, itis Jason who says something along of the lines of "gay vid". None the less that was nearly 20 years ago. They were all young and if they're friends now, who cares?

@phoenixhunters yes i did watch the one-on-one interview he with nopinkspandex. Scott Paige was mentioned on a TMZ article for calling Yost "gay." When Scott was approached about this, he said he was just joking. i'm not saying it was right though. it is interesting through in that interview that Yost said it was mostly the producers, directors, & crew members teasing him about his sexual preference. But did not mention once it was CAST MEMBERS also i believe that time heals all wounds.

@mysterydude1085 If you bothered to listen to his interview, it was writers, producers etc., not cast members. He even said he got along well with his fellow cast members.
