Here is my review (with minor spoilers!) of Evil Eye by Etaf Rum
Some major themes were:
• Palestinian/Arab culture
• domestic violence/abuse
• sexism
• strained parent/child relationships & pressure from family members
• love and lack thereof
• discovery of self/paving your own path in life
• growth
• forgiveness
• therapy
• benefits of journaling
• motherhood
• generational trauma
and there's so much more!
Overall, I really enjoyed this book: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book is the perfect follow up to A Woman Is No Man! I loved getting to know Yara and seeing her growth throughout this book. There are some heavy topics for sure but ultimately this is a story of hope and choosing your own path in life. Everyone needs to read this book!
