lunime seems a bit more ruthless after what happened to her, like she is trying to be more straight forward, while aether hesitated... it is like he isn't into this kind of business and really wants just to be with his sister, while for lumine it seems like she is really into it... it shows their personality is quite different... i like that.

Having Aether, the softer sibling, as the villain is definitely the more interesting scenario for me. Imagine how sassy and straightforward Lumine is until she discovers that her brother turned to the dark side although it's extremely unfitting for such a sweetheart like him. It's kinda heartbreaking to think about. Edit: Wait woah woah i didn't expect this comment to get attention cbxbdhs just to clarify, it's just an hc of mine. I also like the idea of abyss princess lumine tbh. I'd play the twin i didn't choose in a separate account and enjoy the story just as much.

i really love how the two of them have different personalities and the voice lines are also expressed different like, you can hear how cold lumine is and aether is rather hurt zach and sarah did a really great job!

I find it more sad as traveler lumine and abyss prince aether tbh. Since the headcannons take aether as the soft/nice one and lumine as the sassy one it really turns the tables around if that makes sense. For example traveler lumine would think ‘if my ‘sunshine boy’ brother became this cold what kind of terrible thing is going on’ or something. Idk if this really makes sense but thats what I think

When the siblings meet, Lumine is warning Aether about what Dain did in the past. She sounded angry when she found out they were a team. Aether has a more concerned tone to his voice, afraid that Lumine will get hurt by Dain. He sounded like he wanted to go back, but couldn’t due to who was there. That’s just how I see it though. I know other people have different opinions but, please don’t yell at me for it. Thank you 😊

Honestly, having two accounts with both travelers, they both fit the role perfectly. Lumine is secretive, and cold, but still holds some warmth. Aether sounds like he has stuff to hide as well, wicth desperation and a grudge. It's really amazing how it can be seen from both sides. Both as the traveler player fit as well.

So in the cutscenes, your sibling addresses Traveler as the canon names Aether/Lumine, instead of the name the player chooses. This means Traveler chooses to be named differently, which is odd. (Unless of course, you name yourself as the canon names.)

Aether being evil Lumine: i’m gonna tell mom you’ve been the bad guy in this game!!

Both are great as the villain. It's just that, thanks to the delivery of their lines, gives of a different feel from each other. Lumine sounds like she is on a crusade driven by a sense of justice, and the only way to stop her is to kill her. While Aether sounds like he is only doing this because something/someone he cares about is going to get hurt if he doesn't step up, like he doesn't personally agree with the methods but sees that the Abyss Order's end goal does justify the means.

Aether sounds like he’s in massive pain while Lumine is hitting us with those multiple emotions it’s too beautiful.

Lumine makes it seem like she has a duty as queen of the Abyss. Meanwhile Aether made it sound like he was forced to do his duties. Either way, it's very sad.

With the way they say "we've always had enough time." And that the evil sibling says they've traveled through this world before, I'm willing to bet it's a time loop. Like whichever sibling you're playing as will become the evil one for the next loop, retaining memories of their travels, and vice versa. I'm most likely entirely wrong, but it is a thought to consider.

Lumine sounds so sad as the Villain She sounds like she wants to forget her place and just run towards her brother, crying. But she can't. It's like she's apologizing for her inability to do so, her inability to run towards her brother and hug him. But she turns away and leaves her brother, yet again.

Somehow, Traveler Aether and Villain Aether still looks and sounds the same to me. He still sounds as gentle and nice as ever, tired and broken but desperate to do his goal.

Aether just isnt the kind of person to be ruthless. Lumine was just so quick and straight forward and i could definitely tell shes not one to mess with, aether is hesitant, and i like that. The difference in personalities is beautiful

I love the fact that Aether, even as the villain, is the softer of the two, because you can clearly see how sad he is, while Lumine stays cold and collected as the Abyss Princess. I'm really glad I choose her as the mc, I love the concepts of the cold hero and girl saves boy

Edited somethings abiut my headcanons for Lumine, Nothing important. (LONG POST) Tbh, In my opinion, I feel like the twins were designed to fit every role I could think off, Mysterious/Important side character we barely see, Playable character, Protagonist, Antagonist, Etc. I prefer evil Aether more, He seems more upset and broken, And intimidating, As if he had no other choice, And angry at what ever happened and whoever caused it, While Lumine seems more disappointing and cold, Clearly also upset but isn’t as expressive as Aether, As if the truth of the world piercing through her like a sword. I also like to headcanon, Instead of Aether being the soft boy and Lumine being sassy/cold like the fandom agreed on, They’re both similar in their own way, Obviously, Immortal people wouldn’t be nice forever, Eventually they’ll grow tired and bored of living, After seeing thousands of bloodshed, Humanity growing and disapearing in every world, Their friends and lovers eventually dying, And foolish mortals and Gods alike, They probably lost touch of humanity, With only little sanity left in them I like seeing Aether being the sadistic/masochistic boy, Kinda like Childe, He’s bored of being strong, So having his powers stripped off and meeting stronger people made him delighted, Thrilled for battle, I also like to imagine him being impatient in battle, More fast, Mostly jumping in without a thought, He doesn’t believe in weak spots, “Everything will hurt if you’re strong enough.” Is what he thinks, So he’ll focus on dodging and defending Lumine, And is quick witted and fast, But rough and staggered, He wants his enemies to perish in the most fast yet painful way possible, No time to even tell their loved ones goodbye, Because by the time they realize it, They’re already dead. Towards strangers/people he doesn’t trust, He’d be cruel and cold, But towards friends, He’s more gentle albeit teasingly(is that a word?) While Lumine is just 100% sadistic, Personalitywise she’s more distant and aloof, But awkward too, She’s patient and caring once you get too now her but kind of a tsundere( not the violent ones, Just isn’t honest with her feelings) And is kind of naive, In battle, She’s more slow, Would rather observe her opponents attack patterns, Taking the time to remember, Then look for open spots/weak spots, But would often forget to dodge/defend her self, Leaving Aether no other choice but to defend her and himself, Just like Elizabeth Midford from black butler/Kuroshitsuji, The ways she fight’s is elegant, Like a ballerina, She wants to kill her opponents in the most slow and painful way possible, Giving them some hope left, Believing they’ll survive, Then finish them off. The way she acts towards strangers/people she doesn’t trust is the same as Aether, But acts as if she trusts them to catch them off guard if they prove to be a threat, Her friends probably met her through Aether since she thinks friends and love is a waste of time, But really, She’s just afraid of leaving them and being forgotten, Or them dying.(While Aether is more afraid of forgetting them or killing them.) So the rare chances she has friends, She’s more awkward and shy, But is slightly more expressive and confortable after a while. I personally like the villain type who is kinda like a cheshire cat, Teasing, Two faced, Yet deep down, They know it isn’t right, But they have no other choice but to do it, And near the end, They end up being a pawn for the final boss, Aether kinda gives off those vibes, + I feel like Lumine suits the hero role more since her aesthetic, And Abyss Prince Aether sounds more cool/evil then Abyss Princess Lumine. Also, If you look at their official arts, Aether’s brows are slightly furrowed, Kinda like he’s frustrated or angry, And his eyes seem sharp, Plus he looks like he’s ready to fight or demanding someone step back, While Lumine’s expression seems more neutral/bubbily, So I kinda just based of my headcanons by the way they fight, Sound, Look and expressions. These are all just headcanons and opinions, You don’t have to think the same, As long as you aren’t pushing your own opinion/headcanons on to other people, Calling other opinions/headcanons “wrong” and spreading false information and telling others that yours are canon. I am personally tired of seeing sassy/cold Lumine and soft boy Aether, Theres no way Aether can be soft after years of living and seeing blood and war in every world they’ve lived in, But I also don’t think Lumine can be aloof and cold to everyone including her friends and only love her brother(not romantically.) But those are just personal opinions and I won’t attack you for liking those type of headcanons.

I chose aether as a traveller, and I just finished this quest yesterday, seeing aether so hurt at meeting lumine for the first time but knowing that she was with the abyss, ngl I cried lol But damn aether as the prince 😢 I fucking love a villain where they look like they still have doubts and this inner turmoil inside them, and not straight up evil and BAD bad? Not surprising that I also shed tears after watching his cutscene as a prince

Its probably just me, but I feel like Aethers voice overall feels more suited for the main character than Lumine's and Lumines voice seems perfect for the main villainess. Both did amazing jobs, but I think Lumine as evil was more fitting than of Aether as evil. Just my opinion.

I love the subtle personality differences, it really makes it worth the choice between the siblings.

I chose Aether, and i love Lumine as the Abyss sibling. Ruthlessness and intimidation suits her well, though you can still tell she cares for her brother like he does for her. You can tell she's devoted to her part, whilst Aether seems reluctant.

Lumine seems to fit the role of the evil abyss twin better because she looks and seems more cold, but to me it’s disturbing to see Aether, someone so wholesome and gentle, turn cold and evil. I may be biased since I chose Lumine, but seeing them side by side that’s what I got from here

I had this dream yesterday when we reached the end of the game. It was a final battle (idk what we were fighting against) an Lumine transformed into the unknown god and Aether transformed into fricking Xiangling. Hella weird dream ik 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m very late, but I believe that they’re both good villains, it just honestly depends on personal preference! With Aether as the protagonist and Lumine as the antagonist, the story feels more dark, cold, and scary. Lumine’s quite intimidating, and, as you’ve probably seen many people say, colder. She seems to think that the world has wronged her, and now she’s furious at it. She also seems more angry at the fact that Dain and Aether teamed up. Additionally, she seems to be the stronger one of the two- her attacks automatically have more power, and the animations suggest that she’s incredibly strong, and a lot of what she does is almost effortless. With Lumine as the protagonist and Aether as the antagonist, the story feels a lot more tragic. Aether seems like he’s broken. He seems like he’s disappointed in the world, rather than angry at it, like he’s been through bad things that broke him. It’s almost like he just wants to be with his sister, but he knows he has to do what he’s doing. He seems more concerned that Dain and Lumine teamed up. He’s better at movement and climbing than his sister. His attacks seem to take a bit more effort, and he’s just a shade less powerful. I’ve noticed that there’s a slight difference in their expressions and animations during cutscenes; how they hold themself, slight changes in their faces, between the two. Mihoyo does mainly portray Aether as the protagonist and Lumine as the antagonist in their manga/official artwork, but honestly, it’s just up to preference for who you choose to play as. While I love both dynamics, I play Aether as the protagonist because I simply prefer the character and model. He also just gives me main character vibes- again, personal preference! Feel free to reply to me on this with your own opinions as long as it hasn’t been months since I wrote this comment. Just keep it polite!

After this chapter, with story from Dain, i don't feel like calling it "evil". We only standing and understanding it from one side of perspective where on the "evil" side, the traveler's sibling has more info and experience of the journey of what we still not yet discover.. And also, i wanna hear the story from the archon side as well..

Abby’s prince Aether sounds more emotional and more realistic in my opinion it’s sounds like he still cares for his sister and want to be reunited soon (after her journey’s end) but as abby’s princess Lumine she just sounds cold and like only think abt her goal doesn’t really cares abt Aether and meanwhile Aether looks like a kind and sweet person and lumine is the more serious one it would be nice to see the way Aether change into this begin more serious and lumine is just surprised the way he changed after looking for him a long time it would make it’s making it more interesting in my opinion I Never regret to choosing Lumine and proud 😁✌️

In a way, it sounds like Dainsleif is obsessed with chasing after Abyss Traveler. But after finding out about what happened and the Archons being behind it.. I started feeling like I cannot trust them. Now I see what Dainsleif meant.. *stares at Zhongli's butt in betrayal*

I chose Aether as a traveler, aside from his cool braids caught my eyes, is because I like the idea of brother rescuing sister, but now I started to regret. I mean, Aether makes a great protagonist, close to my imagination and role model but after knowing that the "Evil one" is actually the one knows more, been through more I kinda want to change my decision tho.

Being a brother myself, I kinda understand Aether's hesitation like "I really miss you and want to protect you more but this is what I gotta do first to protect you in a better way" vibe in his villain arc, I feel good that I chose him to be the Abyss twin because istg if my sister gets that cold, imma be hurt :3

I came back to check but the voice dialogue really does sugest that the traveler would immideatly leave this world if the siblign said yes. The traveller doesn't care about this world like the abyss sibling. The traveller has just started making some friends and yeah they would help them if they were in danger, but if the abyss sibling would call they'd come. The Inazuma voice lines just mark this. Traveller si getting colder and is angry at their siblign for refusing to leave. I have a feelign that we will see a lot more of this frustration if the traveller doesn't find soemthing that wants to make them stay. I'm excited, I really want a more emotional traveller.

They should have atleast made aether/lumine speak with voice during this encounter

Seeing this I kind of wish I chose Aether as traveller. I really like how Lumine’s cold voice is befitting for her to be the villain/“Abyss twin”. Although a lot of people clearly enjoy the contradiction between Aether’s less aggressive, softer spoken voice and his role as the Abyss twin, personally, I like to match his soft tone with the curious and helping nature of Traveller. Regardless, the difference between the voice acting is so interesting to analyze

I think Aether's design fits a villain way better. The contrast between light and dark colors, plus all the flowing bits, makes him seem more villainous and intimidating.

I don't regret choosing Lumine as my mc, but she really fits well as the antagonist

I noticed a VERY nice detail to this scene/s. It's their tone of voices. Evil/Abyss Lumine sounds confident and rather... Cold? But is rather "afraid" of Aether. Like her tone of voice in this part 1:38 she sounded worried and "corrected" herself when she said, and I quote, "Don't try to stop me" and then the correction, with the "Don't" part is like saying "I MEAN-" Meanwhile, Evil/Abyss Aether sounds more... Commanding and Imposing. He was rather angry at Lumine than being angry at Dain that Lumine "teamed" up with him. While Evil/Abyss Lumine sounded like she is angry at Dain and worried towards Aether. Also, as I mentioned on Evil/Abyss Lumine, Aether did NOT corrected himself when he said "Don't try to stop me", like he had already experienced Lumine trying to stop him from "destroying" a world, but Aether continuing as is. 5:27 is the timestamp. So with this, I concluded that Aether most likely "destroyed" more than one world when they were "travelling". If you ever have questions that may seem to "counter" this, please let know and I will look more into this video more and give a much more detailed reply!
