I was waiting the entire video to see if Alpharad could figure out that he could lay a mine on top of someone that is already being hit by another mine explosion to create a "mine loop." It never happened lmao :< Plus judging from the footage, this is prepatch Elliana due to her having her old up air in this, so mine loops were even EASIER when Alpharad was recording this. I guess some people just really don't have the IQ necessary for Elliana. What a shame. 😏 And yes of course I watch Rick and Morty.

It seems to me the issue with this character is that, despite being a "flying" character, her recovery is not good enough to justify having both a massive hitbox and seemingly being easily launched.

It's a shame. They built a character made purely for combos but shes too slow and the lightest of the tank characters. Her being nearly all projectiles doesnt help when you consider her agaisnt Clairen. It would have been *kinda* fine if she wasnt lacking kill power too

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to play Eleianna. Her neutral options are extreamly complex, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of these options will go over a typical player's head. There's also Ellianna's overheat mechanic, which is deftly woven into her kill game - her playstyle draws heavily from Dwarf Fortress, for instance. The players understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these mechanics, to realize that they're not just fun- they say something deep about COMPETITIVE GAMING. As a consequence people who dislike Elianna truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the fun of Elliana's incredible kill option "Rocket Fist," which itself is a cryptic reference to Daniel Snd's game of the same name. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Fornace's genius unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools... how I pity them. joy And yes by the way, I DO have a Rivals of Aether tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

okay yeah came back to rewatch and kept thinking "that touhou?"

I mean, I'll admit Elianna is tough, but it's cuz she's a bit... functionally different from other Rivals characters(and a lot of Smash chars, tbh). She seems to run a harassment game. She'll set up steam clouds and can move them around to fuck with an opponent, basically, from the looks of it, she's meant to be a character that you just keep zoning and such and you force your opponent to make mistakes against you so you can just lay that damage down and eventually combo into a kill move(few as they are when not overheated). Basically put, she's a zoner that rewards the player's ability to learn her well and string LOOOOOOOOONG fuckin' combos for them nice early kills if you can do it.

I understand Elliana perfectly! All it takes is maining Robin in Smash 4 for four years... But yeah, a few things that are important to note, firstly, using strong attacks (either steam or explosions) will reduce your heat and a fully charged one will reduce it almost all the way. Using strong attacks also gives you a great momentum boost in the opposite direction so using down strong can help you fly for longer. Secondly, when recovering you generally almost never want to eject unless as a last resort. You can fly for quite a while and even if you get knocked off stage at max heat you can sometimes use your tiny double jump and a down strong to get back, and if you're already cooling down you can charge a down strong to let out the rest of your heat so you can fly again. Also, if you do need to eject, holding up or down affects how high you fly so you don't need to rocket far above the stage and get juggled quite as hard. Lastly, Kid Icarus: Uprising music is actually the best and you are a wonderful person.
