Holy smoke, I forgot I put this video on the internet LOL, believe it or not, I still have the same setup and it is running fine. I had one injector that i didn't even know was getting weak that the dealer found during a checkup. I really want the new G2 but i don't have the heart to get rid of this motor because it runs so damn well. Still powerful and still starts like its mad! I'm going to post an updated cold start video soon.
If I ever had to buy a new motor, it would be an E Tec. The Johnson GT 150 that I currently own is probably the best outboard motor made in its time. It is a gas and oil motor. Every year it starts right up after sitting for just under a year with 87 octane crap gas, but it never complains.
I have a 2015 E-Tec 115 and the only problems I had with it are the spring inside the cooling system that controls the flow of water so the engine runs hotter to burn the richer fuel do it won’t pollute when running around 2.000 rpm’s was replaced with a lighter strength spring and then a stuck closed thermostat where I replaced both just in case and the gas primer bulb. About $100 in parts and maybe $400 in labor. The downtime waiting for the repairs and lack of boating enjoyment sucked more than the costs
Knock on wood, but i have not done any maintenance on it. fill the tank with gas, fill the oil tank and use it. After fishing wash down the boat flush the motor with salt away and put it to sleep until next time. This motor has been great!
