I love Evo! I have the second edition and agree that the climate dial obfuscates what's happening: as the climate warms, the habitable zone increases in elevation, and as it cools, it decreases; too far out of the habitable zone, you die. Explaining that helps players plan for moving up or down in terrain. I've designed a replacement that better illustrates this - thanks for the nudge to actually make it. Enjoy!
I agree about the new dial being more confusing. I think overall I like playing the second edition due to its more aggressive nature. I miss the space efficient components of the first edition though
08:15 - A couple of thoughts about this prediction concept : 1. Some don't like memory in game because it gives an unbalanced advantage to those whom remember well. This issue might get resolved with a house rule of which the tiles are in a pile but with the face up. Would you say that such a variant will ruin the fun or that it sounds like a valid solution? (I never played this game) B. Well, I guess that a predictable clomate (knowing in advance, rather only when flipping the tile) - might be taken as thematic in some perspective. Eventually, animals do feel when it is going to be hot or cold, dry or wet..
