Haven't built an SST but looking to buy a ralliart sportback. Been searching for a while (doesn't help that I am in WA) and can only find good ones over east where u r. I have test driven a few over here but obviously there is a very limited choice. The only problem is buying one in South Australia without a test drive is obviously a risk as u don't know how good of a condition the SST is in... Awesome vid tho🤟
AK racing have a Ralliart hatch for sale with a built SST and 712 turbo tuned and ready to go, will come with a full inspection and they would be able to organise freight for you
Just had time to watch the video. Told you you'd love the 10 plate, the car feels so much better, my stock 8 plates were fine, but going 10 plate made a huge difference. You can pound those clutches all day without any issues. My custom SST tune is aggressive due to what turbo I'm using.
Love your vids dude, taught me a lot about my Ralliart before & after buying it. Also just had my SST rebuilt by RP up in NSW after watching this video and wow what a difference
Great vid, glad to see your enjoying it man! Stoked for you! Mine is super-smooth in sports mode and great for when the wife is in the car but its violent in supersport which is how I wanted it lol. I like swift kick each shift 😅
Thanks mate definitely loving it, yeah my wifes car is more like yours for sure and apparently after doing some training with Kozmic in the U.S Alan can now make the shifts super smooth which is a new thing as far as I know and I really like it on mine. Will probably get him to do the same to her car now too
Hey mate, awesome video! ive just bought a raliart and i couldn't be happier, been watching all the videos so i know what im getting myself into, although just curious i only drive it in manual sport mode untill i get the chance to get super sport, and sometimes when shifting or downshifting the car can have a little hop / boggy feeling especially from 1st gear to second, once the cars warm its quick and responsive but do sometimes feel the "hop" especially when downshifting in lower gears. Just curious if this is just generally how the stock sst trans feels. Thanks
i know you got yours done by AK, but is it easly to put in the gearbox? is it like just like other cars or it complicated. planning on buying a built 10plate gearbox.
Installing it is possible for anyone experienced enough with gearbox removal but the pulling apart and rebuilding is best left to someone who's done some SST builds before
Nice video happy you enjoying your car I had my clutches changed as well I installed a brand new clutch basket with brand new torque dampner and the kozmic hp 10 R clutches and change the megatronic piston I am running the stock tune and it perform great
Thanks Dexter, you should definitely get the new TCU 9000 mod upgrade which I got since this video was filmed. You can now change to S-Sport at any time and at any speed plus they have increased clutch pressure of normal mode to sport mode pressures and many more features. AK Racjng can flash this to your car remotely if you have a tactrix cable and a windows laptop
My sst got the shift fork problem around 130,000ks (08 MR). Mitsi quoted 17k for brand new tranny… Got it rebuilt by neat gearboxes with Dodson clubman clutch kit (10 plates like yours) and the Dodson shift fork. Pricing was pretty much the same as yours too. Loving the instant shifts and it definitely feels faster. Keep these vids coming 👍
Nice video had my sst rebuild I got the kozmic hp10r clutches upgraded torque dampner and change interval oil filter and the valve body piston it's a whole different performance I am running on the mitsubishi stock transmission software
Very similar to my build and I love it so much, I'd definitely suggest getting the SST TCU mod added as it's really another level and another game changer
There were no SST issues on my inspection from AK. But I'm wondering if I should just get it done while I have the money to do it. Other things to do as well, cracked exhaust manifold, lots of bushes to replace, power steering hose, shocks, fuel pump relay and hose upgrades... theres a lot... Ill add an exhaust and an intake while im at it. cant wait to get in it afterwards. wont be as awesome as yours though! That thing RIPS!
Ohh that's great news, I know a few people who have built their SST early and while it isn't a bad idea I'd say save the money for now and do it in the future. As for the other parts yeah those are all common things to replace over time and will definitely be worth doing asap
@@solraczetined5951 depends on how much power you are making and how many kms are on the car. But I recommend it has it makes the car feel so much tighter
Hey man. Was looking for the link for the SST price breakdown and details but it wasn’t listed in the description. What is the name of that video please?
Yep definitely still choose the SST, I haven't really had any headaches to be honest as the SST has never left me stranded but was just slowly starting to get worn and slip. So other than a pricey rebuild its never given me an issue and even if I had the manual I would have spent close to half that replacing the clutch anyway
I still choose SST as well. I have a 600whp 2g GSX with a stage 4 shep trans, evo3 1st gear, double synchro on each gear and I still love my SST.... my EVO X MR is 735whp .... anytime you go big you should build the shit out of your transmission... I need piece of mind. But man I love the SST so much fun..... it's not an automatic in my eyes
I wish the response from the paddle click was instant to the shift that's the whole point of paddle shift. Yeah when it does shift it's fast but that delay is kinda horrible. Seems worse in the lower gears to for some reason. Wish you could tune it to be instant
Mine is instant since I got it rebuilt. If you're going by the sounds of the video I didn't sync the audio to the video so probably looks like it's off
There’s a company called south side performance aka ssp..:in america that makes 8 plate clutches that supposedly hold 500ftlbs and some other eight plates that hold 600 and even 700! Do you think that’s even possible instead of doing the 10 plate or even a 11-12 plate option one like you have? I wonder if I would last and drive nicely
I don't know how long it will hold the power as I haven't really looked into them but generally the less amount of clutch plates the longer they will last. So an 8 plate is thicker and will last longer
@@JacksonStrain do they make replacement billet cases with more space for more plates ? I saw they had a bigger sump for more oil capacity which prob helps a lot!
Hey mate I'm tuned by AK Racing and previously by Beeble Toonz they're tuning both the Engine and the SST which is needed when the car has the SST. Yours definitely doesn't sound right
@@JacksonStrain i drove it and enjoyed the hell out of it with pretty bad slip for quite a while and with the rattle of the broken damper springs, its going to be a complete gamechanger for me. This will be a gamechanger im so excited haha
nice video! quick question, i just bought an 09 ralliart with almost 75k kms on it. the previous owner hasnt driven it in a while and hasnt been doing that much servicing. other than what the manual says, what kind of servicing would you recommend? and should i go to mitsu dealer? i know its expensive but i wanna take care of it as it will be my new DD. Thanks
Thanks mate I'd definitely recommend doing a service and if you don't have an experienced SST workshop near you then a Mitsubishi dealer or any trustworthy mechanic can do it for you. I would highly recommend checking my previous video where I had thr owners of AK Racing answer questions about the SST transmission as there's a lot of helpful info in there
I'm not exactly sure on torque but for power it can safely handle 350kw at the wheels long term. Which is perfect for my car as I don't plan on going above that number anytime soon. Those are Australian dyno numbers though and would probably add another roughly 50kw for an American dyno number
your recent videos made me realize that im spending way too much money on my ralliart. and realistically im balls deep and still need 10+k to make it perfect with a built box etc but will never get the return. I've decided im going to sell mine and get an RS3 instead.
Yeah I've been there too, I actually considering selling mine a few years ago for a golf R but drove one and didn't really get the same feeling so decided to go as you said balls deep into the Evo. I absolutely love RS3s and is one of the only cars I'd consider if I sold as like the Golf R it won't be quite as good of a driving experience the launch, mod potential and luxury more than make up for it.
@@JacksonStrain yeah mate. I picked up a Tiguan for the mrs. and the ability to know i can drive it comfortably everywhere, is amazing. The ralliart is balls to the wall, maxed out. and its scary not knowing what youre going to spend money on next haha, whether that be an addiction to modding it or just fixing it. But at the end of the day. I gotta ask myself. Wtf I doing haha. It feels nice to drive in comfort, and the fact that Id not be giving up awd, and im getting near 300kw out of the box factory. Skys the limit in something thats already, id say near perfect both style and comfort wise. The ralliart will never be perfect until ive spent every last dime on it. And ill never recoup it. Cant even now. But with RS3s being in the 60-70k mark with fairly low kms. Im stupid to keep spending it on the ralliart haha. Even tho i love it with all my heart.
@@CDTJosh yeah I can't blame you to be honest, if it was an Evo you could at least hold onto it thinking maybe in a few years the X prices will be like the 8s and 9s are now but I don't think they will and Ralliarts are even less likely. Rs3 is an incredible car for the money o would love to have a drive in one soon
Remember how I bought an Evo X MR? The previous owner I guess never serviced the transmission, so I am going to have to replace a mechatronic valve assembly and it’s gonna cost me $6k USD 😭 Bought it with I think 61k miles, just outside the warranty 😫 Can’t wait to get it back from the shop
@@swagerty I’ll sell you mine if you want. I sent my SST to SSP but they were taking forever to fix it so I told him to keep the busted trans and just to send me back whatever still works which was the valve body. It’s still in the box that SSP sent it to me in
@@Kobefan217 I’ll call the stealership today and see where they’re at. If they already did the repairs then I probably won’t take your offer, though I greatly appreciate it!
@@smartseng3210 it's honestly hard to say as in Australia we read HP differently than other countries. Eg in America people would say they make 400whp on the stock turbo yet here we made around 330whp. So mine now at 394whp in the U.S would probably be a bit over 500whp. So in a way yes, next step up from my 10 plate is a 12 plate set up which can handle over 500whp in Australian numbers
Yeah it definitely was before the rebuild, so much better now as soon a I touch the accelerater ot starting moving forward. I hated stopping on hills before haha
