I bought my Evolution Advanced a few months ago, then found the magnetic die plate on sale for a great price after Thanksgiving. Then I was thrilled when I received the motor as a Christmas present from Hubby! I am loving this machine!!!
In reading these questions it would seem an excellent opportunity to make more videos. We learn by seeing and there isn't much in instructions. I know I depend a lot on videos.
Thank you for the demo, Aly. I noticed that you placed the B plate on the bottom of the 'sandwich' when cutting a die, and then when you embossed, the B plate was on the top. Is there a reason it was flipped for embossing or can the sandwich be run through the machine either way no matter if you are cutting or embossing? Does the machine come with the Magnetic B plate, or is that a separate purchase? Also, what kind of warranty is included with the Evolution Advanced? Thanks.
Aly, recently i purchased an evolution machine and it came only with mat B and one foam pad. But I tried to cut some clearly posh acetate with one of your bow dies and it didn't cut through. So i went to WeR blog and saw on a post from Jennie McGarvey, back in august, where she is using exactly the same die and acetate but in the picture i saw, it looks like she used mat A. Do i need a mat A for do this? Thanks a lot!
+Luciana M. Telles The mat A is for the Evolution and the mat B is for the Evolution Advanced (newest version which sounds like you have). It sounds like the problem is with your dial settings... Have you tried playing along with those so you have enough pressure?
+Luciana M. Telles I had the same problem and I just tried all the different settings that are not for anything specific . Works beautifully. I love my machine!!!!!
what is the two tier storage for pens and things behind you? is that a weR item or is that part of your set display? I checked the website and didn't see it there. Seems like scrappers would want an option like that for our desks but NOT round.
+Helen Gullett We don't have a video on how to use it, but if you layer the blue foam mat on top of your die before your top mat, it will create a light embossed border around your cut image. Hope that helps! If you're needing further assistance, you can contact our customer service at info@americancrafts.com
Hello. I have always wondered what the deep embossing blue rubber mat is used for. I have not found a video showing this, nor any details about it on the internet.
I love my machine but sense I have been using it a lot the handle keeps coming off when I use it. What can I do to prevent that from happening. I keep pushing it in but it still falls off.
We're sorry you weren't responded to sooner... We're learning there may be something wrong with our comment feed... The handle has a locking position that you push in place after you put the handle on the machine. This video will show how to do that. I'm trying to use darice embossing folders with 65 lb card stock, I have set it on #1 and #3, and used all the embossing settings, but it won't work. What do I need to do? I used the platform and mat B, also tried with rubber mat, but it wouldn't go through. Please help, about ready to send this back. Thanks.
Thanks for this info, but i just received my Evolution Embosser, it's an updated version, i'm excited to start using it, but once out of the box, i already have an issue, i don't know how to open up the drawers, they are locked in place i see the up & down arrows, how do i get the drawers to open i can't get to the handle & the side knob doesn't turn easily at all like it shows on any reviews, also the one i got is white not the grayish silver i was expecting, i'd appreciate your help, thanks a bunch.
Hi Melody! Thanks for reaching out. Please contact our customer service team via email and they'll be happy to answer your questions: acinfo@americancrafts.com.
Hi Chaunda! Yes, you need to have the sides locked up in place to rotate the dial. That way you don't accidently change the pressure while die cutting/embossing a project.
Hello Lupita! You can find it at online and independent retailers. For help finding a local retailer, please contact customer service at acinfo@americancrafts.com.
The Mat B is to use with the Evolution Advanced and the Mat A is to use with the original Evolution machine. The aqua foam pad, when layered with a die and paper, creates a slight embossed outline on your project.
one of the reasons I bought this die cutting machine was that I was told that I could use my old sizzix thick dies (I have vzillion) in it - cannot see how that would work - help please
+jill siegler You would just need to adjust the rollers so they were further apart, using the dial setting knob on the side... If you'd like someone to walk you through the process, or more information, contact our customer service at info@americancrafts.com
Wanda Pena Sorry you're motor's not working. Contact customer service and they'll help you with that: acinfo@americancrafts.com. Are you talking about the letterpress plates or the cutting mats bending? For the cutting mat be sure you alternate sides each time you run it through the Evolution. That will help a lot with warping. For letterpress plates be sure you have the rollers on the correct setting. Those should not be bending. If they are you may have the roller pressure set too high. Hope that helps. =)
The Evolution Advanced is designed to work with most dies since the adjustment dial allows you to control how close or far apart the rollers are. If more pressure is needed on your project, adjust the dial to the thinner paper setting. If you're not able to turn the handle at all, move the dial to a thicker paper setting. If you'd like someone to help walk you through this, reach out to our customer service at info@americancrafts.com
They would probably work without a mat and possibly without the platform - depending on their thickness. The great thing about the Evolution Advanced is that the dial on the side allows you to control how close or far apart the rollers are to accommodate the thickness of your dies, embossing folder, or material you're using!
Happy to help! You turn the adjustment knob to fit the thickness of the die and paper you're using. The thicker the paper, the further apart you want the rollers to be, so turn the dial to the thickest diecut stting (to the left of #15, all the way to the thickest part on the diecut setting).
