(Im a 2005 kid) I've only played City Folk on my Wii, but for a while I've been considering downloading Camp. [have to clear some more stuff off this phone for some more space] I don't have a favorite (yet..) but I can't wait to return to the series after a long time with New Horizons. My City Folk gane is broken. Nothing is wrong with my other Wii games, so it must be a disc problem, not the disc slot.
Kids today will never understand the panic we experienced when Mr Resetti popped up from underground and gave us an hour lecture on the importance of saving and how our lives depended on it 🤣🤣
I remember when my DS would crash and I had to turn it off, I dreaded having to turn it back on because I didn't want to spend an hour trying to convince resetti to let me play XD
hey dave dawson Oh trust me...search “animal crossing new leaf aika town”and try to think it’s good that scary town made me super afraid as a kid (Excluding all the theories of Tom book being the damn devil or that your character got killed by kapp.n at the beginning of the game or that you are an enslaved child having to work for the town forever)
mhm i just though about if i had grand kids and showed em the new horizons theyll say, ewwwwww look at those graphics we have animal crossing new city now, (ill be veryy suprised)
@@unfortunatetiming4169 The only thing they can really do is make the characters even more round than before. When I zoomed in on my villagers to take a picture I noticed that they're still a tiny bit polygonal.
We all grew up. Literally. The introduction of pants and shorts was amazing. I really like how the human character designs have evolved over the years. We look so good!!
@@jimbobrl8453 The gameplay kinda fells more realistic in some points 😂 Best example the old gta parts. I think it feels more realistic to drive a car in gta 3 or gta san andreas than in gta 5
@@sapphie_MEALS I would be fine with a port. If they remade it, they would change the source code of the original and work in a completely different engine.
I'm crying. My grandpa bought me the 2nd one with DS.He's passed away last month. He'd always given his grandchildren Nintendo games,so the latest one is my first game I've ever bought by myself. This sounds weird but, reminds me that he's no longer here.I miss him so bad.
Okay, clearly no one will care, but I'm just gonna write my Animal Crossing story down because I feel SO nostalgic rn: My first game ever was City Folk. I was highkey addicted to my Wii (like everyone was at that age) in elementary school and suddenly on the TV I saw all these ads for Animal Crossing and I thought the game looked so cool, I wanted to play it so badly. However, it was kinda expensive back then, so it just remained a dream. I clearly remember, how one day my mom and brother came back from grocery shopping and surprised me with the game because that one shop was closing down and they had so much sale. Seriously, I was happier than ever and immediately started playing. The problem was I just learned how to read and write, so my mom had to usually sit next to me and help me lmao. But yeah, I played for years and even made internet friends (pls don't judge me because of my age...). Actually my brother and I usually posted our fcs on forums (with our parents consent, no need to worry y'all they watched after us) and therefore, played with people and went to their towns and they visited our town etc. There was this boy we got this close to, we even exchanged our telephone numbers and usually called the other and asked if they were down to play (my parents and his parents talked about that first, before we gave out our phone number to a stranger) and then they added the WiiSpeak (was it called like that?) and you could actually talk to each other which made playing even more fun. I don't exactly remember when I stopped, but at some point I went to middle school and barely played City Folk ever again. Tbh I felt like it was a real addiction because I used to wake up early, so I could play a bit, before I needed to get ready for school and at some point even sat alone in my room at New Year's Eve because it wanted to experience the New Year in Animal Crossing, along with their countdown etc. Like I've mentioned before, the few years I didn't play were necessary since I was really addicted. However, I have to admit I was a loner in elementary school and really had no one besides my brother, until he finally found friends as well, so not to sound cringy, but Animal Crossing really gave me joy despite being lonely. So yeah, I went to middle school and actually found real friends for the first time in my life. It was funny because there was this girl running around and acting like she was playing Mario Galaxy 2 and I was so excited because I found someone with the same interestets as me and I dared to talk to her (yes, my introvert ass did THAT and I'm so thankful I did because this encounter changed my entire life) and we eventually ended up acting together as if we were in Mario Galaxy 2 (lmao that middle schooler life). Of course I told her about my fav game and although we didn't play the same versions (she played Wild World), we were both hyped for New Leaf SO much. It's kinda funny, how I found out about the game. Back then, with my fire English skills I typed in "New Animal Crossing Game" and found information about New Leaf and the changes surprised me so much (it's the same with New Horizons, so much has changed), that I started saving up money and bought an used 3DS and once the game was released, ofc New Leaf as well. (Idk if it was an international version, but I even saved up for the deluxe version, which came with a special pen lmao). Since then, I had the best time ever. The two of us (btw I forgot to mention: we became best friends even until now) played almost everyday. Either we met up and played, or we talked on the phone for ages, before we got our first mobile phones and were able to use Skype which made everything a lot easier. Especially if we played through the night. Usually we farmed on the island, which made us so rich. She was especially good with a fishing rot, while I was better at catching bugs. That's why the scene of the game during nighttime hit me so hard. I got so nostalgic because the nights I stayed up and played ACNL or City Folk were the best and hold so much memory. I guess we can all agree, that especially the music hits us so differently because of all the nostalgic childhood flashbacks we get. Unfortunately, I never got so play the older versions, due to financially reasons, but that's why City Folk and New Leaf are so important to me. Afterwards I did play Happy Home Designer and Amiiboo Festival (I never had storage for Pocket Camp :( ) and they were cute and fun, but never gave off the same feeling as the previous games. BUT! now I'm looking forward even more to New Horizons! I just started my senior year and it's cute and fun to see, how I did start school with Animal Crossing and will also end with Animal Crossing! It's kinda sad that due to the delay I will have to buy it after my final exams because otherwise I would get way too addicted and neglect studying. :( Nevertheless, I can't wait for New Horizons since I love Animal Crossing with my whole heart and am looking forward to all the new features!! (Thank you so much to anyone who has actually read this far haha I would love to hear your stories as well!) edit: I can't believe how many people actually are reading all of this and are sharing their stories with me. tysm! I appreciate it! edit 2: since the covid-19 outbreak, my school got cancelled and my graduation/final exams were postponed, therefore I got myself New Horizons to actually survive my self-quarantine (even on the release date!), but didn't get to play much due to all the school work and studying. just wanted to keep you guys updated! I hope your quarantine is going well with Animal Crossing and stay healthy! 💓 (I'm loving the game ofc) edit 3: it's been almost a year since I graduated high school and then applied for university. unfortunately my island is this a mess, but I still play almost daily. I've also got great news! my best friend (the one from middle school) is actually thinking about getting a Switch and New Horizons too, so we might be able to revive these happy middle school memories. :) it's already the third lockdown where I live. I hope everyone is still staying safe and healthy!
Licchi I’m 15 but I remember getting my wii for my 7th birthday along with animal crossing city folk and I still play it to this day I love it sooooo much. I had pocket camp but it doesn’t satisfy me and give me the nostalgia that city folk does. I’ve been playing for almost 10 years now and I’m really excited for new horizons, but I still don’t think it’ll give me what I have with city folk. It’s like having a first love, usually once you find “the one” you never find it again. I hope to get it though. I’m trying to get a new DS because mine broke a while ago and I want to get new leaf.
I’m Japanese and I used to play 2005 version... few weeks ago I got switch to ease me, I was literally crying when Tom Nook said “ I used to be owner for little shop but retired now “ even though I haven’t played it for many years, I felt connection between them... 🥺🥺🥺ピエン
I was born in 2006 and I remember getting a DS and animal crossing new leaf when I was like 6 and even though it wasn’t one of the original ones THE NOSTALGIA
@@LUN4RA Because it's a spin-off. It's not a proper Animal Crossing like Wild World or New Leaf would be. Of course it feels less alive but I think you can enjoy it.
Honestly almost teared up watching this, Animal Crossing was and still is a huge part of my life, so being able to really see how it has evolved is really weirdly emotional for me.
It's almost the opposite for me. I played the og Animal Crossing sooooo much. But ever since then, Animal Crossing has been absent from my life. I picked up New Leaf, but I didn't like it and didn't play it more than a couple of hours. And now I'm the most hyped I've ever been for an Animal Crossing release.
I don't know why but all old games just scare me, I wanna get city folk because I can't afford new horizons but it's like really old and scares me, it looks empty for some reason.
Hugo Leroux I have played them just not when they came out my cousin gave them to me when I was like 4 I enjoyed them but it really did scare me and tbh I have no idea why 😂
I still remember randomly finding the 2001 and seeing I got a FREE memory card with it! (Probably one of the bigger reasons I purchased cuz I had no idea what the game was about (was 11 at the time). They would always yell and be like omg you haven’t been here 5035 days! Weed everywhere 😂. 2028- the end of the game seemed so far away back then 😅
This game kept me calm during my suicidal days before I got the help I needed. Thank you Animal Crossing, I look forward to exploring some new horizons :)
Yes! I've been playing since Wild world, got new leaf when It was released and a few days ago got a switch and new horizons, I love the animal crossing games so much 🥺
I love the fact they made so many things new and improved them without loosing the soul of this game. After is saw the first trailer of new horizons I cried. I loves new world but new leaf never caught me they way new world did. 15 years later I heard the song, saw the avatar, got this feeling "its back" 🥺🥺🥺
Been playing since the original animal crossing on gamecube. I'm a 27 year old mom and still love to play (new leaf) in my spare time. Which isn't often but I still love it. My son is interested now too! Passing the torch lol
I also started with animal crossing on the gamecube! And we're also the same age, so cheers to that as well! Hope you and your son will enjoy this game a lot!
Everyone is vibin' about animal crossing new horizons And I'm sitting here in the corner and cry while playing new leaf Edit: I installed pocket camp and it's lit
i got the new horizon but i dont even play often, i wish i could give it to you for free... actually its a joke, i play it everyday. sorry cant help you, just keep crying in ur corner.
I know this might sound weird but omg I remeber when I was younger my cousins cousin had a crush on one of the villagers in animal crossing GameCube she was like a bird and he would kiss the screen when she would pop up 😂😂
I‘m a big fan of animal crossing and I cried when I watched the trailer of animal crossing new horizons. I literally grew up with animal crossing and this game is soo amazing, I’ve always loved it and I probably won‘t stop loving it lol
I was around 8 years old when I started playing animal crossing population growing on the gc. Now I'm 22 and from time to time I'll come back to it and go on a nostalgia trip.
I feel u I play AC wild world on my emulator for my phone and the original on my GameCube sometimes u have to go back to. The beginning it’s the reason u feel in love with it
New Leaf had really lackluster music compared to the rest of the series. From the Nintendo Direct trailer a few days ago, the music for NH sounds excellent and I can't wait to have even better gameplay to go with it!
I’ve been watching everything ac for 3ish hours now and it’s 6am simply because I’m an insomniac and WiFi doesn’t turn on till 7am so I have to use my phone till then
When people said animal crossing was gonna come out I was like, eh looks stupid. BUT WHEN I FREAKING GOT NEW HORIZONS U BET UR TOM NOOK TIMMY TOMMY BUTT I WENT CRAZY OVER THIS GAME
Wow not that many games and then the spin offs brought us this far 😍 now we have amazing graphics in 2020 such a blessing. I literally grew up on Animal Crossing
@@tikinou0850 you can swim in every game bro and you could also swim in New Leaf bro I'm not gonna be happy because we have stuff that should have been in the base game bro
i spent so much time playing wild world when i was a kid, it will always be my favourite and is very special to me. but i’m so excited for new horizons too, especially since i never played new leaf!
Me playing Animal Crossing WW: I love everyone with every bit of my Soul no matter what new games will come Like I spent so much time on this game.. its basically my childhood
Favourite game is still Animal Crossing (GameCube), the dialogue was so much better and cranky and snooty villagers were actually very mean which I liked. It was a challenge to be friends with them. I miss those days but New Horizons is still a great game. Just needs some tweaks.
I really hope the next Animal Crossing game is gonna let you build something massive like an actual city and ditch the separate inside rooms so you don't have to sit through the loading screen constantly. Just imagine building a whole city with skyscrapers in Animal Crossing. You could spend years on the same save and still have fun.
Honestly I love the GameCube version because of the SoundTrack. I love all the animal crossing games and cant wait for New Horizons. However the soundtracks past the GameCube version just aren’t the same.
I was 14, and a freshman in high school when AC first came out. I've played EVERY game since then, except Amiibo festival because... yeah. I'm 34 and I still play. New Horizons AND New Leaf. I think New Leaf is still my favorite. It was never a super popular game but I LOVE to see the new life breathed into it and all the people who have started to play because of NH. Its actually cool to play it now. Can't say the same for the last 19 years of playing but that's cool lol. At 34 I'm finally one of the cool kids.
They still could improve many things in new horizons. So many things that are considered new in ac are so basic things like crafting or farming. Nothing new in gaming. It's fine like it is, but still needs quality of life improvements, like crafting multiple items at a time. And also the menus need many improvements because it is so outdated and slow
Wild World was eh for me. City Folk was almost as good as New Leaf even though it seems like upgraded WW (the city, and a few other things plus better graphics)
I got my 3DS when I was only 5 years old. I still have photos and videos on my 3DS from like 2012. I got New Leaf when it came out, and I still play it to this day. I never really had any friends to play it with, but wow, so many good memories from that game. 🥺
I’ve been playing Animal Crossing for 12 years on and off. As soon as I heard New Horizon came out I rushed to the store and bought a Nintendo Switch Lite. Perfect quarantine buy! Love love love it!
i have my confirmation in a month (probably gonna be postponed) and my birthday in 2 months and im saving up for a switch and and new horizons. i have 70 euro so far so 290 more. is new horizons good? i only have pocket camp atm
@@mikeikee ahh i cant wait 🥺🥺 ive already started a countdown and im addicted to gameplay videos. im autistic so i get obsessed with things rly easily and animal crossing is my new special interest.
@@roserainhannah mhm i got it for my bday! i loved it so much and i had sm fun but my switch broke a while ago so… i lost some interest bc i had no friends who played it and was too scared to make friends lolol but still its a very fun game
Wild World and City Folk were my first animal crossing game and it was such a great time, and i was so jealous when my friend showed me that he already got the biggest house there is :o
Looking back at the very first game in surprisingly, the N64, the series STILL looks and plays like it for the most part. The current ones on the 3DS, online, and recently, the Switch, may have far more characters and introduced Isabelle, but older fans will miss that crazy guy who warned about not saving the game.
My first animal crossing was animal crossing wild world... It is hard to not cry while watching how upgraded new horizons is, and also leaving my wild world town... Because tbh look how more things you can do in New horizons! :D
My favourite game was city folk since it was the first game I played with my older sister, I still remember the first time I played the game, and wow her island was big
City Folk has the most memorable Sound effects and OST. The 2PM is the best one in my opinion. Also my first Console was on the Wii so it had to be City Folk.
I remember when I was like 5 or 6 my mom bought my sister and me animal crossing wild world. Then one day I got a pink rose and was super hyped about it because I didn’t know how I did it. Then my sister came in my town and stole it because she was Jealous 😂
