It's crazy how we find these costumes scary. Compared to back then, the kids weren't really scared at all. Of course they had weird vibes from it. But HEY, it's Mickey Mouse!
Gary Johnson true.. you know.. kids back then never got to meet Mickey Mouse, so this was amazing. However, compared to today’s Mickey, this is creepy!
AllycatlovesAG HEY I HAVE ONE AND YOU DONT KNOW WHAT ITS BEEN TROUGH WITH ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s covered in tape and it smells. It also has some dry blood on it. HEY I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL ALOT DURING MY CHILDHOOD
I like seeing the creepy mickey mouse faces. It's interesting because if someone asked, "I don't get it, how is this creepy?" you'd have no idea how to explain it to them.
The visuals in black-and-white alone give me a Stephen King vibe. Speaking of which, why hasn't King used those images as inspiration for a horror story?
It is so strange that the kids weren't even frightened by the outfits. It's like the culture completely changed. The black and white photos just downright make it even scarier.
9:37 I had a Mickey costume similar to this one when I was little. (late '80s) My first two Halloweens that I was old enough to pick what I wanted to be, I chose Mickey.
I found myself cringing over some of these. As you said, thank God Mickey costumes are less creepy nowadays. XD 9:40 Oh my God! I remember that movie! My brother and I grew up watching it. I always thought the Mickey Mouse was a puppet. I had no idea it was a monkey in a costume! The more you know....
Well honestly the costumes look really creepy but at least they have tried to mimic Mickey Mouse as well as they can in their century, even the homemade ones... Now I'm not a kid anymore, but I still love Mickey and I want to dress up as him once 😁
To be fair, those costumes were done during the infancy of the Mickey Mouse character. Mickey Mouse was created during the Great Depression so money was scarce. As a result the material was very cheaply made, which explains the poorly looking appearances...
Bendy and the ink machine is just a robber hose 3d cheap jump scaring rip off but what in this video is the real deal from club 33 to walt disney old suicide mouse comics this shit is no joke 💀
That poor monkey! Now THAT was genuinely disturbing. But I LOOOOOVE the early "creepy" funky Mickey costumes! To me they have much more personality than the newer costumes, which are just bland.
I was Minnie for Halloween when I was 5! And it was unlicensed costume lol! But that was around 2001, so my costume was pretty modern- the red polka dot dress (there was even a tail coming out the dress!), black tights, the ears & bow, I even put on some black makeup on my nose.
Technically, that's what the MMC is. Although, it's less of a creepy, indoctrinate-you-into-doing-evil-deeds cult & more akin to a massive fan club that everyone who loves Mickey (and Minnie, too) can be part of.
The "Ben Cooper" Halloween costumes were often work by 5 year olds. I should know, my mom did that to me too before she started sewing up original costumes herself!
You know, I wonder if they get hoy in thise costumes. They are usally in there from 4:00-12:00pm, but its usally cold on thanksgiving day. Anyone know about this!
Also in the 1930s, the McCall Pattern Company had released patterns in 1933 for both Mickey Mouse costumes and dolls which could be used to make the actual costumes.
Pencil Pouch Productions Yeah, she wasn't always Constance Hatchaway, I heard another version of her was Heartbeat Emily or something? I watched a video or two on footage from the 1970s to 2001 and noticed she changed a lot
Raine Storm TV if you look up on RU-vid haunted mansion 2001 you could see a creepy version of her and type in haunted mansion 1991 you will see an even scarier version of her, or you could look up on google images 'Disney haunted mansion attic bride'. I don't know a lot about her evolution, that's why I'm suggesting a video about her. 😂
Believe it or not, those things could last. My sister wore the same costume I did several years after me a couple of times as I recall. I never had a Disney one, but I recall kids that did in the 1980s.
I made my entire Minnie mouse costume and my sister (training in cosmetics) did my makeup. I was supposed to be creepy and it was very creepy . I was based on the vintage cartoons!
That micky mouse version is fucking terrifying!!!! The old version of him is like: Old Micky: "Hello little girl, would you like a free huuuug? =}" Me: "Fuck that I ain't getting abducted today!!!" XD
Reminds me of the Homestar Runner Halloween episode where they were ripping on those garbage-bag-with-character-on-it costumes. "Just like Mickey all the time wears! Picture of his self, on his self!"
I was outside waiting for my Lyft at 3:30 this morning and I was scrolling through RU-vid and not gonna lie ... that Mickey Mouse costume in the middle in the thumbnail pic kinda gave me the heebie geebies lol
I should’ve subscribed a month ago!! Edit: I got noticed!!😁😁 Also I watched a video of yours a month ago and I had forgotten to subscribe that’s why I made this comment 😁😁😁 I like how Disney Dan replies to comments and likes fans comments! Other RU-vidrs mostly don’t do that! Which I wish they did?!?!! But youuuu Disney Dan, you try hard to make your fans happy!! StaY HaPpY!!!!!😁😁😄😄😄😄😃😀😀😄😃😃😁😁
Don't know how old you are, Dan, but I'm 49 and when I was little (in the 70's) we had those horrible plastic masks, with the elastic strings to hold them on our heads, and with the 'plastic garbage bag' type of clothing to go with them. It was all we had, unless our parents dressed us as things like bums, ghosts, gypsys, babies etc with stuff they already had at home. But we wanted store bought costumes because they were almost always some licensed character - Bozo the Clown, Bugs Bunny, Superman, Batman, Barbie, Scooby Doo etc. Being one of those was way cooler than wearing stuff from home! 😉
I do not know if it is just me.. But you might have seen too many horror movies because the Halloween costumes were kinda cool, it is kinda cool seeing, Disney evolve!
u know those videos that are like, creepiest pictures found on cameras or in old homes? what if u found one of these?! AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! also the pictures look like they're from the piculiar children books, but scaryier. sorry for all the spelling mistakes. also 6:42 is so creepy
Says before clicks the video:this is not that scary right... Right? Then watches the video: I doubt myself a thousand times this is truly one of the creepiest costumes I've ever seen
Oswald would be a really short video, since Oswald was only Walt Disney material until 1927 when it was discovered that Walt Disney did not own the rights, so Oswald did not get to be a mascot in the park until 2006 when Disney bought the rights to Oswald and could use an Oswald Mascot in the park. So, it would basically be a 3 minute video detailing only two versions of the mascot, one from 2007 and one from 2011.
I remember I wore one of those plastic trash bag like costumes when I was a child. I don't remember if it was Mickey Mouse or if it was Bugs Bunny but I do remember how hot and uncomfortable it was to wear and the string on the mask broke after my second house lol. Very quality made costumes rotflmao 😂😆
4:45 idk man i don't even see something uncomfortable about this one, it's kinda cute actually, imagine that this is probably the first time the children had a character to enterteint themselves with or even admire. I know that at that time Felix or Oswald already existed, but honestly the magic that those shorts of Mickey have even for these days is unsurpassed :)
