You can really see the quality of the EA titles drop after a certain point. Same the the Activision/Eutechnyx titles. Then we end up where we are now with some of the worst licensed games in recent memory. Such a roller coaster, but hopefully we'll get something worthwhile in the near future.
@@Waddle_Dee_With_Internet I've seen some people say that and I'm not sure how they come to that conclusion because all of those games were pretty bad. I guess it's the best of the worst games.
NR2003, when graphics are edited (especially with ReShade), it can look just as nice as modern games, and sometimes better! It's the most realistic offline racing I've experienced. Play it often!
The nascar racing (papyrus) games are the best ever its shocking that no one has taken everything from that game and made a new one just exactly like them. I'd buy those in a heartbeat over any other current game.
@@zodsherocomplex6460 Yes because the physics and handling of the cars in Papyrus were the closest thing to the real thing. To think it was the early 2000s that had the best Nascar sim games is beyond crazy. No modern Nascar sim game has come close to replicating the realism that Papyrus did way back then.
My first NASCAR game was NASCAR 98 and the only license song in the whole game was Molly hatchets flirting with disaster and it played over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over every loading screen every race every menu flirting with disaster.

Late 90’s-early 2000’s was the peak for me when playing EA NASCAR games. I remember my mind being blown finally having the Daytona 500 and a 43 car field in back-to-back games.
Would be neat, but unfortunately the whole scheme can't be used since Sears is almost out of business now, but it definitely could be used for a Craftsman scheme lol
Nascar 09 was the first game I ever played online. It was addicting. I eventually joined a league, learned, got better, and I played it until the servers shut down. Still to this day the best console Nascar online experience I've ever had.
NASCAR 98. Currently have Chase for the Cup 2005 on my old Xbox. Its so fun even after all these years. I gotta get 06 again too UPDATE: i found NASCAR 06 at a flea market! :D
Some of these older games look way better than I really remember! At least I still have my PS2. I can still Thunder 2003 and 2004! My nephew has my Xbox so I can’t play 2005-2007. My 360 died so no more 2008-15 :(
Thunder 2003, Inside Line, and Heat 4 are the most flawless looking clips in the video. Everyone just captures footage differently, so they wind up putting out footage with bad picture settings.
Also learned about nr2003 around the same time I played 09. I played the demo for months on my old PC, learned how to download the full game, and played the crap out of that when I wanted to race offline, modded the hell out of it and got a whooping like 15fps but I didn't even care. That game was iconic and I believe around 07-09 it had peaked in terms of community
I found a 2007 mod for NR03 that uses the truck physics with the horsepower of the cup cars and less downforce. Hands down the best thing I’ve ever driven for a nascar sim. You have to crank wheel into it, the car doesn’t drive like a go kart, and throttling up doesn’t give it more grip like it does with the original physics. Absolutely amazing!
The first NASCAR game I ever played was NASCAR 99 on N64. After that, I played NASCAR 2000, then found the NASCAR Thunder series and played 01, 02, 03, 04, then NASCAR 06 and 07. The last NASCAR game I played was NASCAR 2011, and I haven't played any since. Lots of fond memories playing all of those games back in the days though.
I am very surprised how gaming has become nowdays. Everything thing back then was old arcade style, now gaming is just gonna get realistic and even more realistic.
I dont remember what game it was either 98,99,00 but I would always go back and forth on the start finish line and it would count it as a lap lol pissed my brother off doing that.
This. This is the kind of content RU-vid was made for 👏🏼 As a side note I love NASCAR Thunder 2004/2004 as much as the next guy but 05 chase for the cup was right up there in my opinion. Had all the series even trucks and the modifieds which I think was new or at least a fairly new feature, the "intimidate" VS draft feature was excellent and something I really wish they would bring back, plus those little mini races against your rivals with the street cars/tracks were awesome
Man imagine if a studio actually cared about the product they were producing and we got a NASCAR Thunder or NASCAR Racing caliber game with modern systems instead of the trash we've been given for the last 10-15 years.
I would rather wait a year or two and have a true top notch Nascar game that has gran torismo or need for speed quality graphics and racing then cheap poor quality games pumped out every year.
Nascar 2001 ps2 Daytona my favorite Daytona due to how wide it is and has fantasy tracks feel on arcade mode with legend difficulty I wish nascar 2001 ps2 version had fantasy tracks which would’ve made it one of best arcade racing games ever if it wasn’t a transition game and had more time to develop
You actually could run 5 wide throughout Daytona, however it would be a wreck waiting to happen. Daytona's track is 5 lanes wide except for the tri-oval which bottlenecks into 4 lanes. 5 wide is possible, but unlikely and not advisable for obvious reasons
I run NASCAR 4 in my computer now, and eventually, I will get 2003 because of all the different types of racing and customization you can do with the tracks...
Nascar Thunder 2004 and Dirt to Daytona had career modes that nobody has topped to this day in a Nascar game Dirt to Daytona felt like an actual sim on PS2, plus the opponents not being glued to the track was something nobody else ever topped on consoles

Transition from Nvidia PhsyX graphics engine to Unity engine as they were the different developers of the previous one after they bought the new NASCAR licensing.
If nascar racing 2002 season(gameplay), dirt to daytona(cheats + gameplay) and nascar thunder 2004(with the extra calls and career upgrades mainly) could have a baby... boom perfect racing game ever..... but I'd love to see dirt to daytona revamped to date and I'd be ok with that....
Its really sad that the 2012 game is actually a objectively better game in almost every aspect than the 2021 game, nearly ten years later. What I mean by this is if you took the 2012 game and reskinned the game and adjusted a few things for the 2021 or 2022 season, it would be a better game than Ignition.
It was that time when NASCAR allowed licensing on multiple developers until 2004 when NASCAR gave the exclusive license to EA, which led the other two devs stopped developing. The one went bankrupt, but later regroup into “iRacing.com”
NASCAR Thunder 2004 and NASCAR07 are what made my childhood. Along with a couple others games of course. In either 06 or 07, who else would, let’s say, pick Jeff Gordon, get to the front, wreck the entire field, switch to a teammate wreck the field again, and so on and so forth? So much chaos 😂

Ehh other than Mark Martin's career Renaissance, mostly a forgettable season in my opinion. The 5 year Era of Jimmie Johnson all kinda blends together, so I remember the 2006 and 2010 seasons a bit clearer
@@k3nnyisaw3som3 The 2009 season was special to me. It was the season where I finally got hooked into NASCAR for good. Specifically it was the finish of the coke zero 400. I'll never forget it. There have certainly been way worse seasons IMO and those worse seasons have gotten nascar games. The way I see NASCAR games is almost like a snapshot in time. But we never got that for the 2009 season. I understand the reason why though. It was between the EA and eutechnics era and they wouldn't have had the game ready in time.
@@k3nnyisaw3som3 The Fall talledega race was a notable one. They weren't allowed to bump draft in the corners. So the drivers sorta protested by running single file until the final 10 laps. Then all hell broke loose and we had 2 cars flip over.
