@seriousbe played the hell out of this game and even played it on dial up modem against my cousin other side of my city. Spent a lot of time causing the biggest crashes possible and laughing at the carnage :)
Remember my brother and I had a blast on Nascar thunder 2003 back when we were super young, spent years playing that. Really what got us into Nascar and racing games as a whole
For fans of racing and Nascar, here is the evolution of Nascar games since 1984. What is your favorite game? If you know of other Nascar games not on this list, please list them in comments.
The Papyrus series is clearly ahead (imho of course) even today. But there are also kids who like to play arcade games and want fast action without wanting to know anything about driving physics, fuel consumption, etc. and prefer to see the whole car. I've never been interested in that. I need simulation feat. cockpit view 😉 So NR2003 is also the last really usable Nascar which I still play a lot today.
For some reason I cannot watch a nascar race for longer than 5 minutes without falling asleep but I love me some realistic nascar games and the tactics involved
It’s because you aren’t engaged like in the game in the game you have to constantly be on your toes “Ok I’m going to draft behind 25 slingshot into behind 29 take the inside turn go outside behind 37 cut back inside behind 94 take a 3 wide turn from the inside potential crash happens and pit with the caution” you try to execute the plan oh but you didn’t count on 49 clipping your bumper DNF better luck next race 🤷♂️
@@jbadger1458 probably not.. that NR2003 its core was picked up after its source code became open source, and is developed in what is now iRacing today, is just insane, but says alot about NR2003. just plain Awesomeness.
Some of them graphics had no right to be that clean in the early days😮 Also, this devolved into "I keep fucking up in all the NASCAR games" towards the end😂
13 minutes of pure enjoyment. What I value most in a racing experience is the amount of cars in the race. As a kid I played the Papyrus NASCAR PCs games more than I can remember. I would create the drivers and paint every single car. NASCAR Rumble is a great idea and a lot of fun but the downside is only 6 cars max per race. Imagine that game with a 16+ car count per race with "mayhem" level power ups. Dirt to Daytona is great with 43 cars per race but as a short track racer I only race Bristol or Martinsville. There is '06 Team Control which has the two fantasy tracks UPS Speedway and Dodge Stadium but the game play feels stale and the computer cars have almost no character. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. Sprint Cars: Road to Knoxville and Saturday Night Speedway for the PS2 do it for me. 2 player action with 16 cars and the opponents have personality and make mistakes. My thoughts at the moment.... thanks the video was great. edit... there are also a few great Dirt Track PC games also. Dirt Track racing 1 and 2 and World of Outlaws Sprint Cars. I have probably spent weeks of my lifetime playing those as well as Saturday Night Speedway. I prefer asphalt racing over dirt however the dirt games are action packed in comparison and you never know what to expect each race. Sometimes the opponents are too aggressive or just loose control and wreck half of the field, cars are rolling and bouncing everywhere and you try your best to make it through the accident. I am yet to play a NASCAR racing game that gets everything right. Either there are not enough cars, the controls are too stiff, opponents are mindless NPCs, lack of short tracks. There is one for the PS2 called SHORT TRACK RACING: TRADING PAINT which is a mess but worth trying except even on the hardest difficulty is too easy. Destruction Derby 1 and 2 are great but VERY FRUSTRATING at times and also very rewarding, constantly tugging on your emotions at both ends. Enough typing, time to go play a racing game...🏁🏁🏁
Destruction Derby.. oh man, how i tried so hard to get that game to run on my ancient i386SX running @ 25000000hz (25 mhz or 0.025ghz) with the 'turbo' on. (which was a switch between 10, and 25 for "old games") 😂 NR1 suprisingly did run on it, on 10fps (which was still playable from what i remember) with a field of view to a minimum (which was the amount of cars rendered in front of you at a time, not the degree of visibilty around you what it is today (set it to low, and you will lose the sense for speed.. set it to high and every corner comes hurling at you insanely fast..) so.. well, 1..) and a resolution of 320x240... When we finally got a Pentium 133, the magic of 640x480 (SVGA) was a very big improvement.
I think 2022 World of Outlaws deserved a spot, in place of Wreckfest. The latter is mostly destruction derby, while Outlaws features stock cars + late models, and is a series where a lot of Nascar drivers start out. Plus its one of the best, most realistic racing games in years. Very tough AI from iRacing.
That's what i heard that Ignition is one of the worst n that's why i held off from buying it. Hopefully with all the technology they can perhaps hire someone that can make a great nascar game. If ppl can make gt7 or forza, NASCAR definitely can be a 100% better than what it is now.
Shame they went with exclusive licensing deals after the early 2000's, sports games in general went this route and the drop in quality with no competition is quite apparent.
The resolutions are a bit low. NASCAR Heat had a much better image than what appears in the video, I think so did some others. It doesn't do that image justice when compared to newer games. For users with poor PC, NASCAR Heat is a perfectly playable and enjoyable game today. Regards!!!
Aaaaah, as memórias…
i was surprised to see wreckfest in here! also, i kinda wish we got some better footage from iracing, but that’s basically all that happens because lots of people on that service are idiots
A lot of these games are not even NASCAR games. Also I did not see Dirt to Daytona on this list. That game was awesome. My favorite though was NASCAR Racing2. That brought back some memories.
Put Fantasy Lightning McQueen no. 95, Fantasy Strip Weathers no. 43, Fantasy Chick Hicks no. 86, Fantasy Doc (The Fabulous Hudson Hornet no. 51) models from Cars Xbox 360 video game and Fantasy Junior Moon, Fantasy Louise Nash and Fantasy River Scott models from Cars 3: Driven To Win in a video game series of NASCAR right away please? I want to see it on a 100% longplay video.
Im looking at Nascar 2013 and kinda disappointed there was no big jump in graphics when you consider GTA 5 came out that SAME year and blew everyone away.
Hi There, at 4:24 you show NASCAR Racers by Hasbro Interactive, was this ever actually released on the PS1 as would really like to track this game down? I can only find PC versions on eBay
nostalgic, NASCAR RACING 2 is my first racing game i played, i was 3 years old that time. i really love that game, love using the Tide livery Nascar. ❤❤
