It’s interesting how Nintendo unintentionally made a story about Mario and Luigi’s childhood trauma affecting their lives and personalities. When Baby Mario fell from the sky, he had caretakers that went on a perilous journey to ensure he and his brother made it home safely. That subconsciously gave Mario the bravery that he’d be known for later in life. Luigi did not have that. He spent his first kidnapping in fear, without hope or an adventure of any kind to inspire bravery. That trauma definitely affected Luigi as he grew up and became the more fearful of the two brothers.
