Obviously 9/11 was diplomatically skipped (except for the last second of the video) but the Singer Building was really beautiful in its early days and I think the only former tallest building in the world deliberately (legally) demolished.

The point is that you rarely think about manhatten in the past as just some island. Also, New York, compared to many other huge cities, is very young. Just some 400 years ago Manhatten was uninhabited. Compare that to other metropolises like Paris or Tokyo, which have been inhabited for thousands of years. It is astounding how fast it all came to be
Assuming the crown indicates the tallest building in the world, the Shanghai WFC was never the tallest building in the world. Taipei 101 was until the Burj Khalifa was built.
@@wiiplayxbox360 We have yet to hear an official announcement that they're going with the tree-covered design. BIG's boxes are what is still on the WTC website. It's not going to be BIG's design, but we still don't know what it _will_ be for sure.
I'm not a fan of these thin super skyscrapers being built in recent years. They look like they could easily topple with a good wind gust. I'm also not a fan of these weird D-shaped buildings looking like sailboats. They look like portable heaters.
ah yes the shanghai tower, petrona towers, and Taipei tower these buildings are really in New York, and also the Sears’s tower.. it’s definitely not in a different state! Oh and the burn khalifa is ALSO in new york totally!

They just haven't officially released what it is. Foster+Partners is still making the design itself, but it won't be the same design as the original diamonds. Two designs have leaked out onto the internet, one is basically a cheapened version of the original with the diamonds cut off, the other has a lot of trees.
