@@ColeridgeBernardStroudIV Except for the graphics, the AFL 50th Anniversary year kinda did that in games between the original teams from the AFL. I did really like that because it's something we haven't seen done before with both teams wearing throwbacks AND the refs wearing the AFL ref uniforms.

Nah the Bucs current uni’s are the best the franchise has ever had. All of our success came in these uniforms. I love the throwbacks and wish we can get them a few times a year, but the red & pewter is our greatest combination.

They did just look for evolution of nfl logos and evolution of nfl stadiums

Agreed! I was hoping to hear more about this as well. The Panthers and raiders also wore the old Reebok template in the initial years of Nikes contract. I think the eagles also wore the old Reebok fabric with nike’s logo until Nike was able to produce the shade of green they wanted.

@@InYourHouse316in the Panthers’ case it was a decision by the ownership to keep the old style of jersey. Jerry Richardson tended to always lean towards tradition and never wanted to change much. That went as far as having the NFL Shield logo at midfield as well throughout his time as owner. When David Tepper came in as owner he wanted to leave his mark as well so they switched to the new style and changed the midfield logo to the Panthers logo, as well introducing new jersey and pants combos as well. So if I had to guess, I would say the biggest reason some teams like the Packers don’t ever change anything is because it is generally a long-standing tradition of looking a certain way that they have no desire to change. I personally can’t stand David Tepper as the Panthers’ owner, but I do like the decisions he has made in terms of uniform combos and things like that. That is about the only good thing he has done for the franchise, though.

I think I remember hearing that the Packers were threatened with a fine if they didn't change their collars, and they pretty much told the NFL they didn't care and would pay it (they never had to pay it)

The packers sleeve stripes were reduced when the tight uniforms became standard.

Not beef perse, Nike just has an "understanding" with the NFL that mentioning anybody else doing the same thing as them is a no go. Companies value business dealings before their own history.

Russel Athletic once made uniforms for all NFL team but four in 1983.

@@akbarlebowitz8151 I think Russell might have done at least some of the jerseys for 15 teams in 1983 (Patriots, Colts, Dolphins, Jets, Oilers, Browns, Bengals, Chiefs, Broncos, Eagles, Cowboys, Redskins, Buccaneers, Falcons, and possibly the 49ers).

@@3243_Yes! That about when almost every team in pro sports started wearing black and leaned way too hard into “modern”. Tons of classic looks where ruined.

@@americasteam2112 For the most part, other than their Color Rush uniforms and the white pants they wear sometimes. Their 1994-95 alternate jerseys with the star on each shoulder were okay, but they look a lot better in their regular uniforms.

Yes! The constant redesigns and numerous alternative jerseys really takes away from team identity. The league just wants to find a way to sell as much merchandise as possible

@JosePerez-vz1qq I didn't know that! I remember that they had a different logo back then, but I didn't know about those changes. I did mention the Ravens and Raiders do have uniform distinctions that make throwback uniforms different than their current sets

I agree. This is what happens when monopolization runs rampid. Its also why I'm more and more swearing off sports gear. Funnily enough right now adidas' NHL jerseys are about the last bastion of quality left and even those are going away after this season.
