There's just something about superstar saga, that always pulls me in with the bros moves more than any of the other games...you can really see all the creativity in it, and it just feels so amazing to pull them off in game
Bj rachielug It's the fact that you don't have to rely on items that are given to the Bros or unlocked I think (apart from the Scrolls). The creativity comes in when you realize that they are expansions of the field moves (High Jump, Spin, Mini Mario, etc.).
It wasn't technically all that different no matter the game, as they all consisted of time-based executions that required "points" to activate (whether those "points" were BP, stock remaining, etc.), and you find new attacks as you progress through the game. The thing is, at least to me, Superstar Saga's bros. attacks felt the most appealing because the points were inherent to Mario/Luigi, almost like a form of stamina separate from health that could be refilled with items (syrups), as opposed to just buying/re-stocking on bros. items. And not only that, but moves could be upgraded via "advance" provided you perform them enough times, which provided you with variation; it only gave just the slightest difference to a particular moveset, but a difference nonetheless. Something else I noticed, at least viewing Paper Jam here (haven't personally played it, still looks like a fun game regardless), the moves look like they take an unnecessary amount of time to perform. I'm not sure if Paper Jam is experience/level-based like the earlier games, but it seems like I would get a bit impatient when it comes to grinding for experience. Superstar Saga had bros. attacks that could be executed fairly fast, yet still contained enough challenge (in not pressing the wrong button or missing a target) to be enjoyable. As much as I enjoy the Mario&Luigi series, I did always wish AlphaDream would return to bros. attacks that had the same appeal as Superstar Saga did. I hope to see something of a similar nature in the new remake this October in the Bowser's Minions story, but if not, I know I'll still be enjoying the Superstar Saga story with updated graphics.
auj lnd I do have paper jam, so I can confirm that the Bros. Attacks and Trio. Attacks do take longer then Bros. Attacks in Superstar Saga, but they are only a bit longer then Bowser's Inside Story attacks at most.
I love how the special attacks went from Mario and Luigi bouncing off of each other and smacking each other with hammers while in the later game their special attacks now involve using a Koopa shell, using a weird magical window, using a flower that makes multiple copies of the bros, and a basket with a bunch of food that causes Luigi to become incredibly overweight.
The Lazygineer nah, the bros attack sistem (in my opinion) is the best of the games. Instead of using items, you actually use your abilities in the fights.
So did Nintendo let the fat fetish people develop Bowser inside story? Like Mario got fat with air, Bowser got fat with force feeding and Luigi became a morbidly obese person due to a picnic...
I have always sucked at special attacks. In Bowser's Inside Story, I was never fast enough for the Fire Flower or the Goomba Squadron, and couldn't control the Super Ball even if my life depended on it. When my cousin let me borrow Superstar Saga, I never got a single Advanced Attack right, and rarely got the chance to try them because I would always be stingy with my resources. And even now in Paper Jam, I would always get frustrated with Toad Trail at first because I didn't realize I had to hold forward.
Derpy Weegee in bowsers inside story, where bowser had to eat the carrots. I COULD NEVER AND I REPEAT NEVER COULD GET PAST IT! It was always so hard trying to as a kid that i gave up on it :( its sad really.
Superstar Saga had the best attacks. They're all cooperative acrobatics which sometimes involve their hammers or fire/lightning powers. It really shows off Mario and Luigi's combat skills. As the games went on the bros. attacks became more and more ridiculous.
The two most difficult for me are the Bounce and Splash Bros. Attacks in Mario and Luigi: SuperStar Saga you need to time it perfectly, however this is gonna be a lot easier in Mario and Luigi: SuperStar Saga + Bowser's Minions (Remake)
ummmmm this would be understandable if u couldn't do chopper bros, thunder bros, or spin bros, splash and bounce doesn't make sense it doesn't require precise timing like chopper or spin bros need
Man, Bowser's Inside Story was such a good game. You could take the game, as it is, update the language a tad, and release it in 2017, and people would probably still love it. Today, I felt the feels of nostalgia, and for that, I thank you.
I swear, the bros moves have been getting easier to pull off with every installment. It kind of ruins the whole "Should I try to pull off a better, yet harder to accomplish attack, risking more bros points, or should I play it safe and use an attack that's easier to pull off, at the cost of not being as powerful?
But Toad Trial is super hard to master, it has a steep learning curve, but once you master it, you are fine(like every single one). I am not a big fan of "infinite until fail" moves too, those with endings all have a crazy awesome ending. And people don't really care new stronger bros. move? Wait, I can even train after Bowser Inside story, and that is the time internet start to get crazy with information, you really don't need to do much about conserving BP and simply dash out as much damage as you like, super star saga isn't having a better and better bros. move either, just one for jump(anti-spike and double hit, technical), one for hammer(infinites), one for hand(elemental weakness), and two extra for a spinning jump and a spinning hammer(choose targets, steal items and stun, technical)(Every time people don't charge up Swing bros. to the max triggers me, just a rant.). That really leaves Partners in Time and let's just say item attack isn't great, just like sticker star and colour splash, it sucks with that system, and you would worry more for wasting a turn more than wasting the item tbh. Also Ore0, You CAN'T go wrong, from the look it is exactly a one-on-one copy beside graphics and minor changes, like thank god Paper Jam did at least one thing good with tutorial.
I think my favorite parts about the Bros moves in Superstar Saga was both the difficulty levels, where you could chose to remove button prompts and the slo mo for more BP, and the Advanced versions, where, after you've used the move enough, Mario & Luigi will learn a more complicated version of the move and it will deal more damage. I'm surprised neither of those mechanics ever returned.
The red/green shell attack is the best in partners in time (not out of all the attacks, just out of all the shell attacks for any game) since it never loses speed. It’s easy to get into a rhythm and stack damage w/the babies. I remember being able to kill 3+ enemies with the red shell.
Ahhh,Paper Shuriken,in my opinion,one of the most broken specials in the series,the others being Paper Kite with full Paper Copies,the Zee Egg and the Copy Flower. I love all these.
When I did my first completion of Paper Jam, I completely missed Cannonball Chuck. I'm like, "How come Mario only has 4 Bros. Attacks? That's not right. Isn't he supposed to have 5?" I checked online and he DID have 5. I felt very upset that day. But now that I have Cannonball Chuck, I overuse the damn thing. Did anyone else miss Cannonball Chuck on their first try through Paper Jam?

My friend is getting into the mario and Luigi series he's playing partners in time ( his first one) and he only has the green shell right now but when he saw baby Mario get on the shell and slap the enemy he was laughing so hard 🤣

what are your favorite and least favorite special attacks from any of these games? my personal favorite is snack basket because it's quite powerful and it's easy to pull off at the same time, and Luigi looks really funny as a fat italian. my least favorite is magic window because it's so random, and it's especially hard to realize when you need to press both A and B when both of the bros come out of the same window. (you probably realized these both are from Bowser's inside story...it's the only game of the Mario rpg series that I've played.)
