The Russian one was really weird

Even though the footage is the same, I feel like, for the Groke, there should be a seperate entry of the 90s show for the English/Finish version. The Japanese version in the video is as is, but when the footage was sent over for dubbing in English and Finish, the coloring was way darker. As a result, the Groke often was depicted as so dark she merged into the shadows, you could barely tell where her nose was, and her eyes and mouth were a near stark white. It was terrifying in a way that the Japanese coloring version can't quite compare to, being so much lighter, even though the footage is the same

In my country we call her ,,Buka". And yes, it was my worst nightmare from childhood

Yeaaa, being born in 1989, I used to watch the 1990 version of Moomins, when I was a wee kid... and damn, everytime Groke came on the screen, I hid behind the couch... and I know that a lot of my friends did the same.

I grew up with the 90's version of Moomin and I admit: for me, there was no monster scarier than the Groke (or Urr in my native language). I mean, a shadowy figure with such piercing gaze and creepy grin, plus the eerie music... What more do you need? I was actually afraid, playing in my garden during winter's evenings that the Groke (Urr) might be sneaking around somewhere.

I watched the 90s version as a kid and still to this day I'm absolutely terrified of groke. That grin and the eerie music that plays when she shows up is pure nightmare fuel. I think the scenes in this video aren't even the scariest. That episode where the moomins are waiting for her to arrive and Sniff (is that his name in English?) chickens out and tries to go home but groke is already behind the door and it zooms in on her face is forever burned into my mind, that was terrifying.

I remamber this version of moomins 2:46, it was still very popular in Poland after 2000. When i was a kid i remamber getting a panic attack every time i saw her on screen, then for couple of Years i had nightmers about the Groke that she come to my house and kill my cats and my parents and she tried to throw me into darkness, it was like dying. So the rest of 2D animated The Groke she is accually cute, much more than the version i was growing up with

1973 scared me and I’m not sleeping at all now😐

I’m from Chile, a spanish-speaking country in South America, when the 1990 animation was dubbed into Latin American Spanish about the mid-late 90’s I don’t know why the coloration of the animation was even darker and contrasted, so imagine how scary it was, I remember to don’t be able to sleep for a week when I first saw The Groke, I was like 3-4 years old so in my mind I couldn’t tell exactly what that thing I was watching was, and it took me many years to look for it on the internet just to realise that The Groke was actually a pretty gentle lady that just happen to love the night and the snow, and now I love her 🖤🖤🖤

This thing was absolutely terrifying to a child. It inspired in me not only fear but years of games where we'd be hiding our escaping from it

I love this little creature. Groke has always been my favorite since I was little. I've never been scared of her.(Yes, Groke is female) I feel bad for her, since she is so alone and probably would just want a friend

Watched it as a child in the 90s, then later reruns when I was 13 in the early 00s. I remembered the groke but nothing specific, and I was very excited about seeing the episodes with her again. Turned out she was a repressed childhood trauma (specific memories erased from my mind) and I almost got a panic attack when she emerged, pressure over my chest, extreme anxiety etc, from a cartoon at 13 years of age. Then came about a year of nightmares where I was chased by her, hiding at different places arming myself, waiting. I still remember the end of one where I was cornered in a room with a CO2 gun shooting at her as she was walking towards me and it had no effect. Tried to tell my dad about that one one evening but had to stop as I was about to puke.
