Sorry guys the end segment should say 'The Future'. Thank you for pointing that out.

Other sub genres I'd love to see covered in evolution: 1 ghost films and haunted houses 2 zombie films 3 aquatic horrors
@whatthehorror

Definitely doing haunted houses/paranormal and zombie. I might do an aquatic one, would be good to highlight the negative impact shark movies had.

I'm racking my brains for the first slasher I saw. Either the first elm street, halloween 4 or friday final chapter. I know some analysts have called jaws 2 a slasher and I saw that before the others, to me it's a creature feature. It's still a fun genre, last year thanksgiving and the blackening were both really enjoyable

I enjoy slashers but less than I used to. My taste changes as I get older. I also think the Terminator could be called a slasher.

Black Christmas and A Christmas Story having been directed by the same guy has got to be one of the most amusing bits of pop culture trivia I've ever heard. Stranger 'n fiction,hoss!

The last chapter Title card at 28:13 you spell Future as The Furture. I also love you calling movies like Hostel and Saw as Splatter Genres. I used to just call them torture porn films

Savage weekend predated halloween and friday the 13 by not much but it was more of a american giallo,,,,what separates slashers and giallo movies was the iconic slasher villain,,,i prefer giallo though,,,,,,the whole not showing the villain in black christmas was more of a frustration than a enhancer for me...😂 your channel is awesome!!!

You could also say about Scream, looking at it now, that it was showing how without parental intervention when a kid is dealing with a trauma such as being more involved with them or getting them therapy that it could lead to them acting out their thoughts and emotions on those around them. Almost like the movie was ahead of it's time with calling out the need for better mental health resources. Billy should have been seeing a therapist after his mother dipped, it's what any of us would do when we see our kid "changing" after such a heavy upturn in their life. If his dad had been more attentive he would have noticed the shift in character and reacted accordingly, and we never would have had the Hillsborough murders. Much like today, if parents were more in tune with their kids and got them help at the first signs of trouble, so many events and tragedies would never have occurred. If we as a whole took mental health more seriously, we wouldn't have so many young lives in the ground now. That's just my in depth look at it though.

It's definitely still rooted in reality as absentee parental guidance is still very common.

Id say the first sign of slasher elements in film is the cabinet of dr caligari from 1920, a mysterious killer with a long knife, and while nothing is ever shown cezare does kill someone and the shadow is seen. Also features the first plot twist in film. Black christmas should get more recognition than Halloween,I bet the reason it isnt is because black christmas is canadian and doesn’t have that killer score or iconic masked killer, Halloween really didn’t do anything new but combined several elements and its popularity and success is the reason for its importance

Great information, but boring and dry delivery. It sounds like you're reading information from a book. There is no charisma or energy in your speech.
