It's a crime Waluigi himself wasn't in Mario Kart 7 and they had the audacity to include Waluigi Pinball without him. Luckily they did it right in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
This video is a great comparison between all versions. The only downside from Waluigi Pinball in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is that it’s missing the jingle sound effect when you enter back inside the tunnel, before the finish line. I know it’s just a sound effect, but it what makes the track great. Other than that, it’s great to see this track again on the Switch.
I think they took it out during race because it's Waluigi Pinball's first time in a system capable of having split-screen multiplayer, so maybe the game doesn't handle very well applying the sound when having players in different places around the track. They didn't have to think about that on DS, 7 or Tour, as you'll always be playing alone.
Eventhough it’s literally called “Waluigi Pinball” I never really noticed the giant Waluigi in the middle and also realize how the newer versions of the track have the giant Waluigi creepily move side to side while the original is just staring at you
I prefer the creepy waluigi of the DS, it fits better with how Luigi is portrayed has being scared of ghost while waluigi is the one scaring the ghosts
Man it had such a glow-up on the switch. The lighting is just terrible in tour. Amazing how much good lighting and textures help it feel more complete! This is the one Tour port I actually prefer, the redesign in Tour looks great and looks right at home in MK8 deluxe. As a pinball machine, it is ok that there are bright colors and lights. Heck, they even made the coins neck to the waluigi cutout shiny.
They could have done so more rather than just add lighting and minimal textures to these exported tracks, but no, of course Nintendo didn't - ever since Iwata passed they haven't cared about their so-called "seal of quality." Stop fanboying for Nintendo and be critical of them for their laziness and scummy business practices.
@@beboboi Fabric seems like it'd add unwanted friction to the board, making it much slower and much less fun. Silk or velvet could maybe work, I'm not sure though.
Waluigi pinball from tour was a great change! Cleaning some details and making very wah style was a nice change! But here in Mario Kart 8 deluxe, it felt like a completely HD track! That is a BIG W for Waluigi!
The only things missing on the MK8D version is a couple of sounds effects, like when advancing to the next place and the first place sound, and the last part of the course.
Missed effort to make the greatest iteration of Waluigi Pinball on MK8, with all the technology and graphics we have now. We got a port of a mobile track. Still mad at Nintendo, worst Pinball version imo
I don't know if anyone else noticed but they removed the sound of "losing a ball" whenever you cross the gap between the two flippers (right before entering the area where you cross the finish line), every other version had that sound effect and it was a really nice detail, but now the Mario Kart 8 version doesn't have it anymore u.u
This stage is _so much more colourful_ in Tour and 8. _Too_ colourful that it's almost painful, but I kind of love it because of that. If there's any stage that _should_ be capable of triggering someone's epilepsy, it's this one.
Idkw, but when I was younger, the giant Waluigi statue in the DS version of Waluigi Pinball looked menacing to me. Maybe its because of the low graphics quality.
Tbh I do like the Mk8 deluxe version of Waluigi Pinball but like, I think the original charm is gone at that point, I think what gave it that like essence essentially is the vibe and aesthetic was trying to match that of the pinball game that was often found in computers back then, dull and grey and darks on the tracks but the colors stayed secluded to certain parts in order to really push the pinball look, which is what’s charming, imo ofc
@@lifeofjeffrey2447 It's in Deluxes files. It's just that there might have been either a mistake on programming or a bug that is preventing the sound from being played.
Thank you, Nintendo. Coconut Mall, Mushroom Gorge, and Waluigi Pinball were all on my dream tracks list. All that’s left now is Toad’s Factory, Maple Treeway, Ghost Valley 2, Shy Guy Bazaar, and Dino Dino Jungle.
Unpopular opinion: Waluigi pinball beta is better than the official one. It spends more time in the pinball table and has more pinball elements trought the track
I actually don’t like Waluigi pinball on 8 Deluxe. It’s pretty much a port from tour, so it has no extra twists nor turns. Many of the retro tracks made specifically for 8 have so many new things to them, added anti-gravity sections, and polished textures and models. I’m sorry, but i really can’t get behind on them porting one of the most fan requested tracks from a mobile game, and that mobile game version only being a remaster of the original. It’s not bad, nor awful. It’s just ok. And for Waluigi’s pinball that’s awful, base game stages got full REMAKES rather than remasters to accommodate them for 8’s mechanics. This is a DLC stage. And while i’m happy it’s back, it’s a very bittersweet encounter.
Only thing I don’t like is how 8 deluxe is practically the exact same as tour. Granted it does look a lot better but I with the new graphics but the lack of change with this and lots of the other dlc tracks seems lazy as Nintendo is just porting them in straight from tour
Behold the most overrated Mario kart track ever. Seriously it’s annoyingly overrated. I don’t see the hype, it’s not very challenging, the music is mid
@@ikaros6633 I like more tracks than you probably, I like every Tour city track and i'm sure as hell you don't lmao, who appears like the happier MK fan?
I've only plyed mariokart on my little DSI so when i try to use an item on my brothers switch, i just look behind me! I crashed into so many walls the first time, cuz i just didnt know the use button lol
The pinball tbale section looks surpringly bad with the new reflection map. It obsiously still looks better cause the old games were on the DS, but its not up to 8 standards.
Bro. I get into lobbies were everyone plays as waluigi, so that when the stage pops up everyone chooses it. I got annoyed but I was like there having fun so blah. But I never realized how big of a fan favorite it was.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe disappointed me a little because whenever you drive through the flippers, there is supposed to be a sound just like in the previous games (dunno maybe they're going to add it in). Also in this version, i somehow didn't liked it maybe because i liked it more authentic or because the synth lead was too much vibrating.
that sound was removed because of the split screen thing but there are other tracks that have a similar functioning sound that still work fine in split screen
everyones complaining about the lose sfx (when you exit the pinball field) being gone in mk8dx, is it really a big deal? its a bad infraction yea but its barely game-breaking
The reflections for the actual pinball section look way better in MK7 compared to MK8. This is because they aren't actual reflections, the floor is transparent and a mirrored version of all obstacles and stuff is below it.
wave 2 in 8 delux.. waluigi's pinball is just the Tour version, but the bloom is cranked up, that's it. so lazy nintendo.. so very lazy oh and the music sounds worse. maybe cuz it's so QUIET.. or it's an remix, i dunno, it just sounds worse
The MK8DX version is great of course but let's be brutally honest here, it is blatantly a glorified Tour track as it's ported from Tour with a few shaders put on top. This is still not up to par with the core MK8 tracks, no matter what you say.
