For me that would be windows 98. I am 24 years old but in 8th grade in a science class I had found a bunch of old Compaq windows 98 computers that were decommissioned but still working. My teacher allowed me to take one home for a couple of days as it was property of the school but oh my, how much I loved it!!! I grew up with windows ME, XP and Vista. What amazing times they were!

Its so weird how a simple sound can transport you right back in time to a certain moment. I remember it was a nice warm spring day and a breeze was coming through the windows and we all gathered around and heard that sound. 😄

Its actually supposed to be like that I think, the one here is either fake or the windows 10 startup sound didnt make it to the final build, which is why the startup sound is disabled by default

And when you are enabling the startup sound, it plays the Windows Vista/7 Startup Sound. Same goes for Windows 8/8.1 (the sound here used for 8/8.1 is the unused logon sound).

95、98懐かしいなー！幼い頃父の部屋に行ったらある日からパソコンがあって、起動音にするからってマイクで一言喋っていいといわれたり、時折ソリティアやマインスイーパー、ペイント、英会話教材なんかを触らせてもらえた！ある夜覗いたらホラーゲームやってる場面に出くわしちゃったのもいい思い出。思い出補正＋父がそこそこ長い事単身赴任してたからその間のパソコンは学校でしかさわれなかったおかげもあり、95と98が印象に残った。

What a coincidence that I was born in 1985, just to witness this entire Windows revolution. Having access to that technology back then felt incredibly luxurious and futuristic. In a blink of an eye, it had all spread and advanced worldwide, and somehow it lost its magic effect.
