The brown snout on the late 80's/90's version always seemed to be such a bizarre choice for the character. Always find it fascinating how it took the parks so long to get a look that actually resembles the cartoon version. Great video Dan!
The more of these I make the more I realize that the parks "parade" or "character" department is very selective where they put their funds over the years. Thanks for watching TPM!
Actually the kid was just doing what he was asked to do, that footage comes from an old Disney parks training video. This part in particular was supposed to teach the future 'friends of Pooh' to stay friendly should an overly excited kid punch, push or pull them.
Alberto Becerra that means the same thing, unless you are talking about the nine months that you were inside your mother because at that point you could only hear the outside world.
Working at Disney, I have been told stories of Pooh with the honey pot that many performers were getting injured with it that's one reason why they took away the pot and made Pooh a little shorter
I wish to be a cast member!! Im only 10 but when im like 25-30 ill do it! If i even remember, but also when im like 30 something the disney timecastle will be opened!! :D
Apparently, Winnie the Pooh got into legal trouble in 1976 for allegedly slapping a girl, but during the trial, the court was convinced that Pooh could not operate his arms sufficiently enough to make his actions intentional. He even danced a jig and made them laugh.
I like Modern Pooh a lot, but my favorite is definitely the big headed Pooh with the Hunny pot on his head. None of the other Poohs are as cute and I absolutely LOVE when he wiggles his nose! Adorable!
Aww, I'm so happy to finally see Pooh get his own video! I knew about the honey pot head Pooh, and the modern Pooh, but I wasn't sure about what was in between. It was definitely interesting to see Pooh's costume evolution. 1989 Pooh was definitely the weirdest for me, mostly because of the grey muzzle. Other than that, he would've looked fine. But my favorite is definitely modern Pooh. He looks so cuddly!
the first ever pooh costume looks so sweet far away. When you go up close the eyes are just flat out creepy They should have used oval eyes instead of circle eyes.
I like the last two the most. Looking the most like their animated counterpart. I never really understood why the big-headed Pooh lasted as long as he did.
My favorite is the 1999 Pooh which is the same one that they used for his Hollywood Walk of Fame induction ceremony. Followed by the 1965 version. I don’t know, not only is it classic but there’s something really cool about him. Also, he’s in the music video with Michael Jackson singing at Disneyland in 1980. Now his cool is that?
Do an evolution of Marie,Toulouse and Berlioz from The Aristocats. But mostly focus on Marie since she gained a couple redesigns in the 2000's despite existing as early as 1973 for the Disney On Parade stage show.
I didn't know about the articulated Pooh until watching this video,…and I DO like the current Pooh that's in the park, but I think my favorite is the Big Head Pooh…possibly quite simply because not only is this how I first met him in 1984, but he was also the first of all of the characters that I ever saw in a Disney park. The nostalgia for me is far too strong. The one I like least is the carved foam nose Pooh. It's always driven me up a wall why his nose was so dark. They couldn't match his skin tone closer? I don't understand at all. Also,…though it might have been mentioned already that the technology created for Welcome to Pooh Corner was later implemented in the development of Teddy Ruxpin. Phil Baron who voiced Ruxpin played Piglet in Pooh Corner and Will Ryan (Rabbit/Tigger/Eeyore) voiced Grubby.
1989 Pooh is the cutest thing I've ever laid my eyes on, I love the suit now but if they changed him to be similar to his late 80's look... I wouldn't complain
Ah! Pooh Corner! That must be the show I watched with the little girl who lived next door to me when I was five! Thanks, Disney Dan! I love these videos!
The second one by far looks the cutest to me. The snout looks kinda funky considering how its semi opaque to provide visibility, but theres something that's just so cute about the design.
The "Big Head" Pooh was also an attraction of Sears Department Stores across the country for many years to advertise their sales of Pooh-related merchandise. I remember seeing Pooh in one of these back in the 80's.
Pooh always reminds me of my happy childhood. I had a photo of me trying to feed a pooh bear that my dad bought me back in 1972. I was about 10 months old at the time, and the bear was bigger than me. Too bad I can't find that photo anymore, but pooh always reminds me of a happier time.
It's fun to go back to vintage videos from the parks and see which costume is being used. For example, in the old Disney Sing-Along videos: if you watch Very Merry Christmas (1988), you'll notice that the Disneyland Christmas parade features Big Head Pooh, but Disneyland Fun (1990) features Cartoon Pooh.
My favorite is the original 1965 Pooh. The honey pot on his head makes the costume VERY unique and the way it wiggle its nose and ears make it more interactive than any other costume!
Winnie the pooh is my absolute number 1 favorite I love him so much❤ sadly I am never able to meet him when I go to Disneyland. I have met tigger and rabbit but still no pooh bear
Been waiting for this one. Gotta say the current one is my fave 😊 And first view too! While we're on bears...maybe we could see how Baloo has changed over the years? *eyebrows raise*
1999 Pooh will always be my favorite, partially because Pooh was my favorite character when I was little and loved getting to meet this version of him when I first visited the parks around that time. I do really like the articulate 2004 version, though!
I went to Disneyland last year in February and I wish they had a Owl, Kenga and Ru to meet in the park. I wore a shirt that had Eeyore on it “Eeyore is my spirit animal” and Eeyore didn’t notice but Pooh did. And he was so sweet. He used his hands to point at my shirt and covered his mouth in a awe and then pulled me into a hug and did a there there kind of pat on my back and back of my head. 🥰
I remember that 2004 Pooh. Does anyone else remember that Winnie the Pooh TV programme with the puppets/costumes? EDIT: It was called The Book of Pooh and it was down with puppets. There are photos from behind the scenes on the internet.
My favorite is the 1999 Pooh Bear to be honest. I got my photo taken with Pooh Bear and Tigger when I went to Disney World last year and it was so nostalgic!!!!!
