my thought too. may be a robotic minion rather than Zurg himself. Giving him legs and making him that bulky seems like too big of a departure from his usual, slimmer design.
I believe that this robot is either designed by Zurg to hunt buzz and the others throughout his lair until buzz reaches the true big reveal of the real zurg, or this is both a robot and a mech suit with the real zurg inside controlling it but I’m gonna go with my first idea because in the trailer it has what looks like zurg smashing a control panel in rage most likely because he can’t kill buzz using it and then decides to go and finish the job himself to destroy star command once and for all
@Prestin Hurshberry it’s Zurg, the original design look too cartoonish for this 2022 movie, which is more matured than any other Pixar movie before, which the original design would not fit the matured theme of the new 2022 movie

I really hope the news Zurg is something of a combination of the first Terminator and Zurg in Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. Like Jim Carrey's Eggman or William Defoe's Green Goblin
Lol, just imagine if Buzz and Izzy were stuck by that giant green plant and as they are trying to escape they hear Zurg's voice: *Can the Space Ranger come out to play?*
Old Zurg will always have a very special place in my heart. He’s cheesy and his voice is awesome. But there’s something about New Zurg’s design that I like. Maybe it’s the gun arm. Those are neat. Also Zurg’s final scene in Toy Story 2 with Buzz 2 is one of the most wholesome things ever!
It would seem that Zurg was the one who found the Mark II Powered Combat Armor you have lost! Seriously, though. This man is wearing some X-01 Power Armor.
Tbh, when I first saw Zurg in the 2022 trailer I some reason thought that was a space marine from War Hammer, it's just the size and bulkiness of him that remained me of that. I'm glad he's getting a redesign to look more intimidating and actually could cause harm or even kill but who knows if this is the actual Zurg
Do you know that in one episode of the cartoon he apparently quotes Warhammer 40.000?one of his minions says my emperor do you want us to attack our enemy? " he answers" has a Scintillian acid based triangulating foot pod? " That I actually did not understand because I know the game by name only. It was a fan who told me it was a hint to the game but not its meaning
SPOILER: Just seen the premier 2022 movie. This whole time it was an older version of buzz gone bad for reasons. Such a great movie. Watched it in 3D tonight!
Zurg is so awsome happy hes returning as an actule villian he even was my favort in toy story well toy story 1 he was mentiond by buzz 2 times im andys room when the gang meet him and the gas station but pretty cool he made his his sences in 2 and seen him in sunny side day care in toy story 3
If they make a sequel to Lightyear, (which they probably won’t) I think it should open with Zurg being healed and given the classic suit from Toy Story 2 that we know and love!
I really hope, because the fact that the ship and robots belong to someone is promising. Belonging to whom, if on Tkana Prime there was the crew only? To some member that the crew did not know or lost of sight? Because no sentient aliem species nor different technologies were seen. Were the ship and the robots on another planet, or come from there to Tkana Prime? What did the word "Zurg" mean in their program? A sequel could develop this and invent anything
It would be funny if the movie makes a reference to Zurg in Toy Story 2. I wonder if we'll see Zurg blow off a real person's torso like he did in the opening scene.
Zurg is one of my favourite villains. I might haven't watched the entire buzz lightyear show but I still liked him. So, when I learned that there is a lightyear movie coming I was so excited to see buzz and zurg fighting eachother on the big screen. But, considering that there must always be a twist villain in movies and that some characters that we like are changing their gender this giant, scary, intimidating and cool looking robot zurg might be a twist that most people are gonna hate and complain while the studio might say that 'it was nessesery for the movie and an amazing idea' while it isn't. But, I am hoping that I am wrong that zurg isn't a surprise villain and this robot might not be zurg himself but a creation of zurg. With that being said I hope that the lightyear movie is good and do well with critics and box office
I hope this is a fakeout, because going from swave, funny and psychotic Evil Alien Emperor to the "Whoops I can't control my gun" cliche robot is a bit heartwrenching
Zurg is one of my favourite toy story characters. I want to see him return in the upcoming toy story 5 and this time he becomes friends with woody, buzz and the gang, join them and becomes part of their family

The beginning of toy story 2 in the game in the film used to scare me and if j watched it at my grandma's and grandads house I would hide behind my grandad🤣🤣
We deserve Evil Emperor Zurg, like Darth Vader with a splash of humor; what we got was like a sci fi Scooby-Doo villain. The movie was good don't get me wrong, but it was very much Pixar to a fault - to the point where zurg was TOO down to earth and mundane. I wanted space opera galactic emperor robot super villain.
I don't know why but for me Zurk looked a lot like Darth Vader. (I actually just saw toy story 1 3 so i never saw him on screen , but someway i knew of his existance.)
I wonder if that toy story 3 Zurg is the same as the toy story 2 one, I kinda hope not as the Toy story 2 Zurg was happy with his son and we don't see a buzz in that box in toy story 3
