Evolution Power Tools Multi-material circular saw: I killed it

First off, by time this video was uploaded I had completely killed the saw. I made the cuts you saw plus another 17 inches in 3/8 plate, then it died.
Again, 3/8 plate is above Evolution’s specifications so I’m definitely being harder on the saw than is suggested. That said, if you want to cut all day, every day in 1/4 plate, I do t imagine it would hold up to that either.
DEAR TOOL COMPANIES: I will be happy to review your tools. The review will be honest. I will do my best to use the tool like a guy in the field would.
If you are looking for a “cupcake” review or a “product showcase” I’ll do that for you...yeah right.
If you are wondering why I’m cutting so much 3/8, local scrap yard had some 29.5”x10’ cutoffs that I got at $130 a piece.
As always constructive comments please.

Basic knowledge that every professional should know: USE THE RIGHT TOOL FOR THE TYPE OF WORK TO BE CARRIED OUT, the fact that it is multi-material does not mean that you can cut a ship with it! I have several years with an R185SMS that I use daily on metal and wood without any problem, but I also do not try to cut things that should be cut in a plasma or acetylene cutter, this machine is in no way a substitute for said tools, it is simple logic.

I think this is the most honest review I have ever seen and I thank you for that. Most people when they get the saws and equipment given to them they are very biased to say the least particularly on the evolution Equipment. keep up the good work we need more people like you out there thank you for your honesty.

So you cut 3/4" steel plate with a saw and blade rated for 1/8th inch and it's junk because you burned it up? LOL

I was resigned to having my evolution miter saw being a wood cutter after I ruined the original blade on the first day of a metal project. Then I found a Diablo steel demon blade for it, and boy does it ever cut well now. No more chattering, much smoother cuts through steel and the blade still cuts like new after some 200 cuts in metal from 1/16" to 1/4". The cut edges don't have the scaly appearance that the evolution blade left either, they are smooth.

Does this saw have a 20mm arbor bore? So none of my Diablo 5/8" bore 7-1/4" or other saw blades will work? Am I stuck only using Evolution saw blades ?

I would suggest the blue saw. Evolution has their other metal cutting saw with a better chip shield $150. Also, maybe fiberglass window screen mesh as a filter?

Thanks for the non-bias review

Chuck the drill on reverse of commutator and spin it with some wet and dry, you get a much better finish

Damn, I wish I would have seen this 3 damn days ago. Oh well I guess I'll have to use it and see what I can get out of it.

This is a cheap hobby saw for casual all round use with a multi use blade. Of course a dedicated saw with a dedicated blade costing three times as much will be better. Good call on the blocking, it’s so corrupt, same with most detailing products and guitars.

If you had a metal fab shop what would be the benefits of this over a plasma cutter

Hi, would you please make a video or send me a photo with the wiring of the on/off triger switch? Thank you.

It might have turned out better if you had used the blue blade with it. I know it doesn't come with it, though.

To be fair Evolution do offer saws that are designed with metal in mind. This saw is only good if you need to cut metal from time to time in between cutting wood ect.

you can leave a review on it if you purchase through amazon. other ones have some one star reviews now. i would say builds quality is functional. i though the guards and base where plastic so it being cast aluminum is nice, but its just a geared down 100$ circular saw, but its the only low rpm corded circular saw on the market. i would have rather gotten a Makita, dewalt, or skill saw for close to the 100$ for this but im sure the 5000+ rpms would cost me a lot in blades for cutting 14GA- 11GA square tubing. and there warrenty and support is very robust. but, this saw is not a milwaukee metal saw, its just a geared down circular saw good for up to 1/4 but i dont plan on pushing past 1/8
