I actually just did a similar upgrade on my Z4 M40i a few days ago, a custom midpipe with OPF delete (plus the LEIB connectors to prevent limp/CEL). The difference is staggering. Not only does it actually sound good now, it feels like the car can properly breathe above 4000RPM whereas before it sounded choked and forced. As a bonus, throttle response improved, especially at low revs, and I'm pretty sure some power was gained. Feels more eager to go. 100% recommend this upgrade. I also recommend modding the pipes (old and new) to be attached with v-bands such that they're very easy to swap when you need to pass your emissions. Wish I'd done this sooner.

Not true, you get CEL and possibly limp mode in most BMWs if you remove the OPF, even if the OPF is passive. The sensor in the downpipe will notice that the flow is higher and the ECU will think there's a problem (broken pipe, damaged filter, etc).
@@Top_g80comp ah that's entirely different, as you guys don't have OPFs. What I said is valid in the EU where removing the OPF drastically changes the flow of the exhaust (similar to removing the cat actually).
Sounds like crap IMO. BMW exhaust notes for the 3L S## turbo engines have always been bad for some reason. Really went straight downhill after the N54 and N55.
@@hexagonosaurus5848 naah the N54 sounds fine. It's the S55/S58 which sound bad for some reason, and I don't think it's because they're twin-turbo. I'm sure it contributes, but it's not the main reason.
@@hexagonosaurus5848 totally disagreed, it's fine to not like it but don't try to paint it as an objective fact. It sounds nowhere near as bad as the S55/S58.
I don't think that's possible, there seems to be no interruption in piping between the midpipes and the final pipes, they're welded together. You'll need to purchase both if you wish to keep the original pipes uncut.
@@purevenom9381 I did a similar mod to my Z4 M40i and I'm pretty sure it's gained some power, but I didn't dyno it beforehand so I can't back it up with hard evidence. There's also less lag overall, especially at low revs. The car's just more eager to go.
Curious where these items are made? Way too many people just drop selling AliExpress parts for this car. Not saying that’s what these are, that’s why I’m asking.
Everything you offer is of absolutely no use here in Germany. You will lose your warranty on the car and the German TÜV will be laughing their ass off when they check your car.
