Ewan McGregor (Star Wars, Kenobi, Trainspotting) and Charley Boorman talk to Scott Davis about their new AppleTV+ series Long Way Up.
Starring and executive produced by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman, “Long Way Up” reunites the best friends after more than a decade since their last motorbike adventure around the world.
Covering 13,000 miles over 100 days through 16 border crossings and 13 countries, starting from the city of Ushuaia at the tip of South America, Ewan and Charley journey through the glorious and underexposed landscapes of South and Central America in their most challenging expedition to date, using cutting-edge technology on the backs of their prototype electric Harley-Davidsons in order to contribute to the sustainability of the planet.
The new series will follow Ewan and Charley as they journey through Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and up through Colombia, Central America and Mexico. Also joining them are their longtime collaborators, directors David Alexanian and Russ Malkin, following them in their electric Rivians.
The first three episodes of “Long Way Up” will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, September 18, and new episodes will roll out weekly.

Hes internationally known as Obi Kenobi so that could make things difficult. Plus he did the musicals. I feel like the bond role is selected by people who are on their way up or who havent had the biggest roles of their life before. And he looks too friendly to be Bond imo but i still like him lol

Started out of order with Long Way Up, LOVED IT. Finished Long Way Round a couple of days ago and just finished Long Way Down. My gosh, i'm in love with this series!!! Here's hoping for more Long Way's! Or some other work you guys produce. Thank you. 💜 I'll start Long Way Up again soon.

You folks should not miss Ed March's endeavor to do this on a little Honda C90. Actually he's starting in Alaska. Self supported genuine and hilarious. An Engineer by trade who occasionally does his own modifications along the way. It's: "c90adventures"

If you haven’t seen it already check out fortnine’s video about the decline of Harley Davidson. It’s about 3 or 4 months ago he posted it and it is very good, although paints a very bleak picture of HD’s future.

Hey,I did this trip 2 times round trip from Fontana to p. Montt, Chile ,in buses ,taxis, charter,and boats.fontana ,California to mexico,guatemala,El Salvador,Honduras,Nicaragua,Costa Rica,Panama,Colombia,Ecuador,Peru,Chile and back on reverse.

Charlie Boorman showed up on an episode of "Ride: With Norman Reedus" and Norman said Long Way Round inspired him to travel the country on his bike. I never expected a third "Long Way" series. Pleasant surprise to be sure. The electric bike angle seems a little too Climate Change preachy and anti-testosterone for a motorcycle show, but I'll watch regardless.

Yeah - It would have been more environmentally friendly if they had just skipped along on some 600cc Hondas - they would probably produce less emissions than one of those diesel generators running for a couple hours. I'm sure those electric bikes are nice but this trip wasn't suited to them.

Electric motorcycles being good for the environment is a misnomer - the electric needed to charge the bikes still comes from power stations! I’ll still watch the show of course, but I can’t see it being as epic as the original ‘Long Way Round’ series...

I love these guys. Still watch round and down very entertaining. I was happy/surprised to hear they were doing another one even though the format seems on its last legs. It just towing an elephant behind them as a challenge seems odd. Must overnight in the only specified places because its diet is so limited. Because of the elephant, it requires 3 support vehicles instead of two and one isn't elephant approved. Finding out that elephants don't like the cold and hate headwinds which anyone with an internet connection could figure out. Even though I question the use of the pachyderm especially because they are so rare right now, I still like the comradery between Ewen and Charley

For some people it's really hard to pronounce a sentence in one sitting :). The whole 'livewire the long way up project' was supported with a few trucks and a fast charger, because in South America you hardly can't find a charging station. A better title would have been 'the long and supported way up' :)

@@peter10245 Hi , Greyhound - Watched it 5 Weeks ago online in HD . in one link I just checked there are 3584 downloads for that movie and that is just one of 2.5 pages of links for it . You have to know where to look. ps it is only Fair , making the Germans out to be Super evil etc , of course Tom is squeaky clean as always.

The first series Long Way Round was really interesting. This one was just unbelievably dull. Electric bikes that go constantly flat and where there are no charging point and those 2 having a full support crew who can turn up with a diesel generator was just dumb beyond belief. Good on those 2 for going on a bike trip but trying to turn it into a series was a huge fail on Apple's part. This series is well past it sell by date.

The problem with the livewire is they want 4 times what the bike is worth, it is not a good bike, there are better bikes like "Zero"? to me or for me it is disappointing that they took the HD livewire. I look forward to watching this but I fear this is going to Ewan and Charley looking for a charging station across south America!!!

Do they really wont us to beleive that they were riding through South America on big electric bikes without thinking of a backup for electricity? How stupid would that be? They eventually have to admit that they had electricity in the backup vehicles all the way. And even then one of the bikes broke down beyond repair in a 1000 miles. This was a promo film for the LiveWire HD that went terribly wrong in the North of South America. I understand that it is difficult to admit that in front of all that money from HD, but their honesty really is at stake here. People are not stupid. Motorcyclists are no 16 year old girls that faint in front of these two.

It's shameful and inexcusable to me that Harley-davidson would exclude Netflix , Hulu , and Prime by making this Apple TV exclusive. And I'm no fool I know why. The marketing team is taking aim at what they perceive to be the PC crowd by choosing Apple exclusively. Thus disregarding the rest of the motorcycle community. No I will not subscribe to Apple TV to watch it !!!! I own an Electra Glide and am extremely offended by Harley's choice !!! Stuff it marketing you're the problem .

Ask less vanilla questions... like, why did you change the logo? Will you be using the same theme music as before? Will there be a book and DVD? Where was your HQ, London as before or in LA? What was your prep like? Charley is hard to listen to though with his nervous stop-start-stop speech habit.

Not much possibility of asking much in six minutes... Interesting, I never thought/noticed that about Charley, I think he's great to listen to - thoughtful and never taking himself too seriously. When he and Russ were in Toronto years ago to promote Race to Dakar, I asked a question about their relationship during that project and disputes over carnets (reference to LWR). Getting my book signed after the Q&A, Russ said "that was a really good question". Man, was I chuffed!

Harley-Davidson and electrical two of the worst things to ever happen to the bike community! Instead of concentrating on a making electric motorcycle which involves strip mining and burning coal to produce electricity how about producing a more efficient gasoline engine! It's been proven time and time again gasoline is the the most efficient fuel source in the world , it's the engines that need to improve not the fuel source.
