What could possibly qualify Jimmy Saville, a DJ/TV host at best, to be able to review a high security psychiatric hospital/jail to see where improvements could be made. A bloody DJ for christsakes. I saw in an interview were they talked to Jimmy Savile about his mothers death. The host asked him why he spent 5 days alone with his mothers body after she had passed away. Knowing he was a necro I wonder if thats what he was doing to his mothers body?? I dont believe he had the best relationship with her. She beat him a lot as a kid. And if lots of people already knew about the "rumors" about Savile then no doubt MI5 knew what he was up to. But yet he was allowed around all these ppl? THen you have that pic of Jeffery Epstein & Gislaine Maxwell sitting in the same exact place the queen was pictured sitting at in one of her mansions on the porch. How does Epstein get so close to the royals? MI5 missed him too?? BS!

@@spms3018 most therapists have credentials. As someone with an hons degree in Psychology and a Masters in Behavioural Science I dont believe he was trained or legitimate at all. He was unqualified, unsuitable & had no relevant experience to warrant such an advisory role to any couple, imho. I dont think that anyone sane or pragmatic could ever say that JS was just a bit eccentric & making excuses for philip by claiming there was some kind or rational or logic reasoning behind it is irksome because he was hardly a bastian of morality himself. No one should simply excuse the royals behaviour because their circle was limited. The background checks would have revealed previous suspicions, immediately extricating him from suitability to be counsel to anyone in the RF. The very fact that therapists are mostly very discreet, unassuming and would not be prone to seeking publicity should have made that an easy decision to make, regarding an interest in couple's therapy.

My brother was a student at Leeds University and was assigned to the Leeds General Infirmary back in the mid 70s and it was general knowledge then amongst the students that Saville was messing with the dead bodies in the mortuary. I didn’t believe it at the time and thought it was them just messing around.

I'd love to know exactly what the Queen thinks of Savile. People say that ruling families all go along with the perversion, and that it was well known that Savile was a paedo, a necrophiliac and an all-round pervert. I do not understand how he got away with it for so long. If it were you or I behaving in this manner we would quite rightly be banged up pretty damned smartly.

I wish you were correct Pauline but sadly you are not. Did you watch worldwide news a good few years ago ? There was the Haiti 🇭🇹 Disaster & HRC set up The Clinton Foundation Charity for Haitian children. (These “Philanthropists” will use any excuse to access children. ) HRC said 100% of the Charity money would go to 🇭🇹 Haitian children and she would make up the shortfall. In fact all the 🇭🇹 Haitian children 🧒🏿 got was CST - Child Sex Trafficked. And in overall Charity money 💰 less than 0.3% of 100% . HRC,s Methodist Missionary Laura Silsby got caught masquerading as a Missionary 🇭🇹 when in fact she was employed by HRC for CST . Laura Silsby was imprisoned for a long long sentence and HRC got Laura Silsby sprung from prison after only 18 months and married off into oblivion 😜 . Later the President of Haiti 🇭🇹 wanted to stop the CST so he had to be Arkensided . It was just the tip of the iceberg Pauline.

I can remember in the 60s while I was still at school in Ireland seeing an article in one of the Sunday papers about saville trying to pickup young girls in a mini van. I don't know the details but there was even a picture of him in the van prowling around. I believe there was more about the case the following Sunday and then there was no more. Think I was about 10 so around 1967.

Im a Leeds lady. I often stand in Roundhay Park and look up towards the apartment block where Saville lived. Im still bewildered. It feels surreal. So sorry for anyone who suffered as a result of Saville. Amazing devotion and dedication Mark😊

My own mother grew up in Bournemouth in the 1960's, Savile owned a flat there, and she clearly remembers all the kids were warned about him back then! Find it VERY hard to believe that the DofE didn't know of the rumours surrounding Savile, it's simply not plausible. The most important question is _"The rumours HAD to be known, even if they couldn't be proven, so why was he allowed to get so close to No10 and the royal family?"_ and that doesn't automatically mean that those who knew were abusers too. In fact my own feeling is that he was allowed such access to power because the elites didn't think what Savile was doing was much of a crime......and probably still don't. Oh, and I would love to see this "compelling" evidence that the McCanns were not involved in the disappearance of their daughter, especially considering the way their story changed in the first few hours. To my knowledge there has never been a scrap of evidence to suggest that Maddie was abducted. Maybe the real reason why people are so adamant that the McCanns were involved is because of the number of times they've been caught lying!

As a child ,this guy and Rolf Harris made my skin crawl .I wouldnt watch them. I remember a T.V advert with Harris ,in a pool with kids ,something about learning to swim, made me feel queasy every time it came on . I cant understand why I felt like that ,especially years before this all came out. It was a powerful emotion though ,where ever it came from

I never heard of this guy before this was revealed. I suppose the closest we had in the US was Michael Jackson, in so far as A lot of people looked the other way because of his fame. Not sure how Saville tricked so many people considering he was always a weirdo based on the clips I’ve seen. The difference is America grew up with Jackson and from when he was a sweet kid in Jackson 5 and he was pretty normal by all appearances for 20 years in the public, so not quite sure how he tricked so many people

I worked at Thames TV and the 'rumours' in the late 80s were that he was a necrophiliac .... I was in my 20s and I dismissed them at the time as there were many rumours about a number of entertainment providers (this was the worst).....I now know not to dismiss rumours and believe that many other tales were possibly true and I worked with people who witnessed other demented behaviours amongst celebrities, not so horribly disgusting but the late Bruce Forsyth and Benny Hill need some investigation. There are some very well known others who are much younger and now in their 50s who were at the very least 'inappropriate' in their behaviour personally to me as a 20 something personally and probably many others as well but they didn't commit crimes in my view at the time, they just pushed their luck....I won't disclose their names but people need to realise that the Entertainment Industry in the UK (it's not confined to Hollywood), particularly Television in the 80s and 90s was absolutely rife with inappropriate behaviour and I am sure there are many stories other than the ones I know of....

All I heard about Saville at the time was that he was a womaniser and preferred much younger women. Then more and more there seemed something fishy about him and then Louis Theroux made a documentary about him for a series where he shadows somebody famous and tried to dish for dirt on him but got fobbed off by Saville. I thought Theroux was being too inquisitive at the time. Then after Saville's death it all came out and Theroux then blamed the viewers for believing them. No, Louis Theroux, it's your fault for being fobbed off.

I used to watch the show and I'm not joking me and my brothers used to asked my mother to let us write letters to go on the show and she used to just give us this blank look on her face and a few years later she told us " he always gave me the creeps , I couldn't put my finger on it but I knew there was something wrong about him " Then when it all came out about him I asked her what made her feel that way about saville and she just said " it's not something I can articulate it's more of a visceral reaction " So there's no way that people in the industry didn't know about him

Then information came out about Cyril Smith as well and two police detectives signed to the case to investigate him did a lot of desk research and interviewing people and were just writing up the reports when a higher up burst into the office and demanded all the information they had on them. Because of the confidentiality in their work the police detectives couldn't make photocopies to sneak out to somewhere safe at home or elsewhere. David Steel was one of those instrumental in the cover up. Then it was all made official in the book Smile for the Camera by Simon Danczuk who was the MP for Rochdale at the time.

I assumed that they had been kidnapped or murdered by the Mahgreb men living in Brussels. It turned out a few years later that Marc Dutreaux was behind it all. Great interview. I think there is a lot of value in doing a timeline and going back to childhood. I listened to an interview with JS which was one of the last ones before he died. It is worth listening too, he used double speak and dropped hints into the conversation with a smirk. He was asked about his childhood and he made reference to being poorly as a child and the family doctor had given up on him recovering and wrote out his death certificate and left it one the side. He mentioned that some weeks later and the family doctor came back and said you are still alive. I thought that was quite key as he was written off and against the odds he survived. This could have set him a mind set that he was invincible as he was given the worst diagnoses and still survived against the odds at a very young age.

Great interview Shaun. It's just a pity we didn't live in this world decades ago. I was one of the many children who was abused. By my step father, in the late 70's and early 80's, in just about every way except sexually. I was born in 1975 and in those days things were different. I was physically attacked by three different infant school teachers, so had no where or no one to confide in, as my mother just didn't care. I believed it has contributed in creating the person that I now am today. I believe that if Savile was still alive today he would be going about his life unpunished! "It was good while it lasted" I believe if he was still alive today, he'd be free and able to continue to go about his sick depraved life, simply because of all the dirt he had on so many people in high places.

Still don't understand how Savile virtually had the run of Buckingham Palace at one time.He was even asked to give marriage guidance when Charles and Diana were thinking of a divorce. Great interview! Shaun is the greatest interviewer I have come across. And very impressive guest. I loved it when he said the nature/nurture elements that might exist in the offender are of no interest to him because we all make choices. Could not agree more! It is getting very tiring, this trend of psychoanalyzing criminals to bits and trying to find this or that cause for their character and decisions. All that - besides being not even quasi-scientific - to in the end inevitably conclude: yeah, he bumped his head, or was abused in childhood, but not everybody bumping their heads or being abused becomes a criminal. Ugh. Ok. Very helpful. There is such thing as evil and we might not know what it is, but inventing meaningless causes and categories helps no one. Except the psychologists and psychiatrist and the cohort of experts that live off this, of course.

I'm sorry it's not an incredible case, Saville was possibly protected by the intelligence agencies, how many people can know what he was up to and for it not to lead to anything is beyond me and no one said anything at the time either!

Certainly when he’s talking about Prince Philip asking Savile for Diana/Charles help doesn’t he realise that Mountbatten was a pal of JS himself of dubious stories about boys in Ireland. And Philip was heavily influenced by Mountbatten .

Back in the 90s I had the misfortune of having to serve Savile in a shop in Scarborough.a vile man.burried in scarborough.we had all name plaques and headstones removed.involved with Peter jaconelli mayor of Scarborough and Jimmy Corrigan local business man.

SaVILE was spotted in his Rolls on a country lane late at night, near Leeds. When the young PC (who phoned in to a radio show to tell this story) asked Jimmy what he was doing, he said 'waiting until midnight, she turns 16 then'. When reported to his Sgt., he was told to forget about it...

As a school leaver in the 60's I had a job in a shop, had to fill in a year or two before i went to nursing school. There was a 'religious' married male, a father employed who would follow us young girls to the store room and "tickle" us. I complained about his "tickling' and I GOT THE SACK.

Can you explore the possible Fred West connection, the rumours of him supplying victims to be sacrificed in barns, always felt Savile et al was connected. Fred West always bragged he was protected by high up ppl. He was definitely bumped off to hush him up

Im almost sure the first time Jimmy Saville and Louis theroux was aired near the end of the episode after answering a door to louis Saville utters the words "I knew this day would come". Since then, no matter what version ive found of the episode that part is cut out. Why is that? doesnt really match up with louis therouxs other interviews where he says he never knew all the way through that episode.

He said Saville offended with others, but overwhelmingly alone. But in nearly 60 years of offending, sometimes everyday, there’s probably 100’s of people he offended with. Edwina Currie, he can only tell what he experienced and she’s probably very charismatic, which means you’re good at getting on with people, but maybe a psychopath (which is a trait of that disorder).

Isn’t there allegedly photo evidence of Jizz maxwell floating around with her being present at jean Benet Ramsay’s house the night that the child went missing?
