About what you say around 49:00 : I've seen SHITTY articles rank for competitive keywords in my market (in french), and I'm appalled I need to be consensual to rank. So I did what Shawn said : mention the bad products but detail why I don't recommend them, and it worked quite well.
I am just amazed at how you guys crank video content and not just regurgitate the same SEO thing over and over again. Not that it's bad, cause I also like watching those, but just kudos to you guys, awesome!!
What sucks is the people writing the articles on insurance, don’t even have insurance license. But yet they’re promoting affiliate links to certain insurance companies. To me that is soliciting to sell insurance without having license, which is against the law and all states.
About your question at 49:00, I usually just go ahead and update and would usually either see a temporary dip in traffic or none at all. That being said, my traffic is spread across my pages pretty evenly so I can afford to take that risk.
Around the 19 minute mark, about Forbes not being swayed by money... Surely that can't be the case for every vertical. To take "best web hosting": - BlueHost - IONOS - HostGator - GoDaddy (Just to name a few...) Everyone somewhat worth their salt knows these are HORRIBLE providers that do just so happen to have some of the highest affiliate pay-outs in the game. If the editors genuinely think these are the best hosting providers out there, they must have either spend no time on research (let alone testing providers) or they are complete morons.
I think he did mention that that was particular to the insurance vertical as he was speaking from his experience only, but yeah, hard to argue against your facts for web hosting 😆
@@mattJM92 Although if that's official company policy (product recs and money don't mix) one would assume that would apply to all content and not just certain verticals? But yeah, I hope that at least with YMYL topics that's the case as there's a bit more at stake there. :)
Awesome interview! What do you do if you enter a micro niche that only has crappy content with lots of mistakes out? Do you just put out good content and build up your own authority until you can overcome your competitors?

If you update an article every day, how do you know if those specific changes actually have a positive impact on your ranking? I mean, it usually takes a while for google to react to the changes that you make, at least for me it does.

How many total freelancers or employees does Forbes have across their entire content production teams? How much money on average are they spending to publish 1 new article?
@@strawhatsanji4985 you kidding or no? he literally does not… his site was demolished, ran into the ground, heavily penalized… he did everything google didn’t want you to do and made money on the run up of the site before it got killed. Im sure he still makes money via youtube and courses. But he’s the last person id ever take advice from if we’re talking seo gurus, unless you want guest post advice?… his course was absolutely abysmal even for that. Complete waste of time and money. Entrepenuer advice, sure. Seo? Not a shot, garbage
Agree with the above, but I strip mined his site with Ahfrefs and found some pretty decent KW's. That's the only takeaway I've ever gotten from him. Didnt know his site got spanked by Google. Will have to look at his traffic again.
