The track "Respite On The Spitalfields" is absolutely amazing. It just ends the album so strongly.

Call me little sunshine is one of the greatest songs ever.

It sounds like sour grapes to me. Sure, he tried to not frame it that way, but there is definitely some bitterness there. And arrogance. It's as if he's saying the band sucks now that he's not in it. I'm a new Ghost fan. Every album is different and has tracks I really like and some that don't hit me as hard. I think the new album is brilliant. Tobias would never dare put out the same two albums. He's a composer and a visionary with lots of influences. Ghost music evolves as he does. I'll have to listen to this guy's album now to see if it's "just not that good."

Impera will grow on you. Coming from someone who never gave ghost the time of day. Now I've listened to their whole catalog. Impera takes a couple listens to compute.

Personally, I dig Impera. In particular, I’ve been jamming the hell out of “Kaisarion.” Grew on me quite a bit. Just my opinion though.

I would say Impera was way better than Prequelle, but yeah Meliora was the Gold Standard for Ghost.

There’s good reasons why Impera is Ghost’s highest peaking album ever. It debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart and sold 62,500 physical copies in the first week it was out.

There was nothing salty about what he said, just his opinions on the new album. While I think the new album and prequel were both solid, they don’t match the old sound, especially Meliora. Opus eponymous will always be my favorite though as it was the first album I heard and the most dark and mysterious.

Meliora definitely was the peak. I do think the ones, that sued had a reason to do it. Though I think the best statement on Ghost was a remark, AJ Good said on house of mask. He said, “it doesn’t sound like Ghost anymore. It sounds more like Tobias Forge.” I don’t exactly hate the band or Tobias. There’s a distinct change after Meliora. I listened to Prequelle it’s decent. But the sound isn’t like the previous records. I know and support changes in a bands sound over evolution. But it went from incredible sound of Meliora and Square hammer. To radio friendly and trying hard to sound like 70’s revisited. On the other hand MCC[Magna Carta Cartel] is one offshoot I enjoy. The band wasn’t founded by the other members who sued. I’ve listened to Priest, it’s alright and can tell they want that memorable aesthetic to their gimmick.

Ghost is a fantastic band with an awesome image for LIVE performances. That said, he is not wrong in regards to his critique on the later albums. Particularly this last album. It seems to be an odd collection of B sides with one or two decent songs. But, it was a flash in the pan. Poof and then forgotten. Just not memorable at all. I still love Ghost but I was disappointed with the last album in particular. I also think it sucks that former musicians who more than likely had a hand in helping to fine tune the earlier sound of Ghost as well as the presence and image on stage. Every member has their own energy that they bring regardless of who is given credit overall. That said, the choice was made and agreed upon. So any struggle faced by musicians who chose to step out of the shadows of the unknown, already knew what theyd be facing. As much as it might suck, it is what it is.

I think like most bands it depends on when you discover them how you react to their new material. I discovered them with the song ritual so I started liking them because they had a blue oyster cult vibe to their sound. They have moved towards a creative pop oriented style while keeping some edge to the music. The problem is it either works for a band or it doesn’t. If I’m honest Empera is my least favorite album by them. I still like them but I find them silly and the music just is harder to get into. I’m still a fan but I hope they get back to heavier music with less silly stuff.

Ex ghost member sounds a bit salty. Impera is every 80's metal band rolled into one album. Watchers in the sky in particular. TF is a great song writer and he gets better each album. Eat your heart out.

I’ve actually always slightly preferred Prequelle to Meilora, it’s still a great album, but I feel like Prequelle flows a bit better with each song and has a slightly better production to it. As for Impera, I personally really dig it but I totally understand if he doesn’t like the direction Ghost have took with it since he left

Meliora is their best album. Their newest album just so so.IMO

Priest are an excellent band too their first 2 albums are pretty amazing. Although I'm not too impressed with the singles for body machine, ill still give it a listen

Just all opinions! I for one have loved the last 2 albums but that’s me! Bands can change and we know what kind of music Tobias likes and his ultimate plans for ghost, so I think now that they are making more money and have become an area act they will continue this path. So it’s not going to be for everyone

I think the new album is so so. Respite on the Spitalfields is the best song on the record. Ghost was never heavy but Tobias is kinda stripping away the edge they did have. It's his band so he can. But they don't have that creepy vibe anymore. And yes like alot of folks I feel like Meliora was the peak.

ill be honest Impera has really raised the bar for Ghost some of forge's best work yet and one of the mostt consistent albums ive heard to date from them asides from meliora

I’m a huge Ghost fan but honestly Impera is just.. good. Not great. It is a solid record and when it first came out I was playing it a ton but I don’t think it has much staying power. At this point I have almost zero desire to listen to the songs on it again. Kaisarion is the only song I still play to this day. Sure, it’s their most successful commercial album but go on any music ranking website and you’ll see that it’s actually rated lower than their other albums.

But what does corey taylor think about ghost not having a good album to begin with?

I agree meliora and prequel seem too be the peak..imperas been around for a long time now and it hasn't grown on me at all..the only song I enjoy is that last one about the ripper...ghost need too return too there root's for the next album..I don't think you can make impera twice

I agree wholeheartedly. The first 2-3 Ghost albums were great and I feel they fell off after that. Funny, around the time of Meliora, I found Priest and have been hooked ever since.

I like all of em. But their or his sound has kind of varied over the years. So I don't think getting rid of the ghouls had much to do with it. And of course this guy doesn't like it he's butt hurt about getting the boot. I guess time will tell. I mean if they finally release a bad album maybe I'll believe it but so far they have all been great in their own ways.

I think Impera is one of those "Grow on you álbum." But not an instant banger like Meliora and Prequelle was. It has multiple tracks which I would consider great but it also has some filler tracks, unlike its predecesors who where a stairway to heaven. I respect honesty, but talking trash about someone else's art right before releasing your own is a doble edge blade. Priest's first álbum better be half as good as Prequelle and definetly better than Impera or they will stay in Ghost's shadow, same way Magna Carta Cartel did. Just an opinion tho..

I listen to a wide variety of music and I just cannot get into Ghost. I've went through their entire catalog and I just don't get it. Not saying that makes them bad musicians bc obviously I'm in the minority.

Yeah the new album was pretty mid. The lyrics seem too poppy, like it's just trying too hard. I thought it would have been great from what Seven Inches of Satanic Panic was, but it was ehhhh.

Hes not wrong...i loved the old band waaayyyy better...the old band had a vibe a feeling..they played together in a certain way.. and had a groove and a great double guitar thing..this new band is not the same..they dont have a vibe or groove to them..music isnt as good...

Those first three albums were great but since then......... not so much.
