He led the comeback over Notre dame when Texas went on a nice drive and scored the winning TD with just over a minute less in the 1970 Cotton Bowl. Texas won the NC that year; undefeated 11-0.
Been a big SWC football fan since I could remember. Initially liked the Longhorns but changed my allegiance to Southern Methodist. I suppose they - the Longhorns - were always "hogging" all the good Texas athletes come recruiting season.
Who in their right mind would like the cheating SMU d bags? Even with all that cheating, they never really won anything. Texas is the only school in this state that's ever won a real championship. Who counts the 1939 Aggys outside of Collie Station? About 7 teams claim a title for that same season.
