This is called "secondary victimization" because the trauma of having to speak to police, be examined, and testify in court may be greater than the trauma of being abused.
Paying hush money is not a crime. Having an affair is not a crime. Adjusting the books to hide hush money is a misdemeanor (but that is beyond the statute of limitations).

the defense trying to use the criminal defendant's signature move of trashing someone until they cower in shame and defeat didn't work on daniels. he's used to dominating people who have something to be ashamed of- an emotion he doesn't possess but has found extremely useful to use against those who do.
So if he had paid her from a personal account, not a campaign related "lawyer cost" account, there would be no crime, no fraud? His cheapness is what caused this fraud?? Trying to make it a "business" expense?? If that's true it's pretty funny, great business man NOPE
yup, exactly. nothing illegal about the sex or the money he paid to keep it quiet. the crimes are falsifying business records to illegally manipulate an election and/or to avoid paying taxes. which apparently is something he just does reflexively, because he ended up shelling out more to pay cohen back than taxes would have been.
Not sure, but I think it might be a crime even if he had used his own money, but it would be much harder to proof that the silencing was done because of campaign related reasons.

Daniels provides the sizzle, but the steak is something else entirely. He could have paid her $130K right out of his pocket, which probably would have been the end of the story. Instead, he had Cohen pay her, then reimbursed Cohen, calling it "legal fees." $130K got grossed up for taxes and a bonus for "a job well done." (how does THAT fit with the Defense's characterization of the transaction?) He spread the payments out over a year to make them look like monthly billing. HE SIGNED THE CHECKS. In sum, Trump has been caught mischaracterizing payments to commit an election violation. Trump is f**ked. For 15 seconds with a porn star. In a sense, it's kind of like he got a dose of the Clap.

Stormy Daniels is us in that she represents an average person's treatment by the justice system. There's no denying that sleepy don is getting preferential treatment. And this truth is devestating to people who have accepted our justice system as fair and carried out equally for all. If he is acquitted, I believe it would be jury nulification. That they could believe that he was in a room alone with her or any other woman and did not engage in relations in light of the access hollywood tape and his womanizing reputation, is laughable.
