Ex30 - Replace Bearings - First Time 

I tried it. Another person tried it on their bearing. It didn't work for either of us.

@@DawnSChampion needed to replace bearings on my exn and was unfamiliar with the hollow motors. thanks for the video! also, the permanent magnets are in the rim, the stator that you pulled out is not permanently magnetized and wont stick to anything without electricity.

Thank you!! This was actually because of multiple deep water crossings. The guys kept telling me it was fine because it was waterproof. Butt it wasn't. 😅

Bearing noises should be ever present and getting worse with speed and time. Yours might be something rubbing? Is the rim bent, touching anything, is the tire spinning straight, are the tire beads seated…?

First, you need to get something in there to separate it enough to get the hex key in there. So slowly and gently wedge a little something into that space and hammer. Something like a chisel/flathead screwdriver. But you need to do it evenly, so hammer a little on one side, rotate and do it all the way around so it comes up evenly. It's a slow process

@@DawnSChampion I meant the second cover that sticks with the wire. I dont know if i formulated that right but regardless i finally been able to do my second bearing ijust blow torched the hell out of the cover lol. Because of you, before putting my motor back in i got scared for my fingers for a second lol 😂👍 Btw i have a begode T4 but ur video was helpfull. Thanks. How is ur ride now ?

@@DawnSChampion Is the EX30 supposed to be waterproofed ? If not, have you used the 3D printed seal schematic ?

@@williamfitzback9144 I don’t know about any of that. I sealed the motor so it feels pretty waterproofed to me

When you heat the cover, the bearing heats up as well

Helps big time, they are different metals and expand at different rates. If you take it a step further and put the bearing in a ziplock in the freezer the night before, the bearing can drop right in.

Yes. The EX30 is a harder wheel to ride and it has its would weirdness. But it's a more powerful wheel and that's what I wanted. I still think the CP is a better overall wheel in this category though.

There has to be zero rust in the bearings. And when you pack it, don’t pack it too full. You can feel the significant resistance the grease makes. So you want to pack it as full as possible while it still being able to spin as freely as possible. I would try that again and then go from there. Best of luck and let me know how it goes!!

@@DawnSChampion Well there wasn't zero rust at all... cleaned them as good as I could but I can now see how particles of rusts could block the bearings on some stable positions after a ride once the grease cools down and lets the particles migrate down the bearings and block the balls from rotating without some force to unstick them...Guess I'll have to change them. I'm not really looking forward to this, but if the situation degrades I'll have to. I will check for the highest quality masters bearings, I don't want to do it again later on ahah. Thanks Dawn !

@TheThunderwars yes exactly. The bearings cannot tolerate any rust. Not for a silky smooth ride. Replacing them would be the best. You don’t need the highest quality. The ones I used here I’m still using now and everything has held up perfectly even through many, many extreme water tests.

​@@DawnSChampionSo I did replace the bearings on mine, but I've heard that there is a risk if putting the motor back together the wrong way and making it face plant when turned on. How true is that ? I think I made enough photos to put it back the right way do you have tricks or recommandations ? Thanks:)

@@TheThunderwars yea. Don’t put anything in the wrong way. Make note of which way the motor cables come out.

Bearing pullers need to be able to grab the other side of the bearing which only works if you can get it partially out
