UPDATE!!!! PLEASE READ!!! As I said in the video, I tested this foundation several times and always felt like its dewiness enhanced my fine lines and texture. But for some reason, on the day that I filmed this review my skin looked AMAZING for the whole day. Like, hours later I looked in the mirror and I was like "WOW. What?!?!?!" It basically continued to look exactly how it looks on camera here. So I honestly don't know what to tell you. At this point, my main complaint is that the lightest shade is so saturated and so peach. If the shade were a better match for me, I would probably continue playing with it in the hopes of unlocking its secrets. Also...sending some extra strong love out to all of you today ❤️

I find that the CT Hollywood blah blah blah does this to me. Somedays it looks banging and other it just makes me look sweaty and weird and older than I am (ok may AS old as I am). I find it unreliable and yet I keep trying - maybe I just need to tell the HWFF "It's not ME is IS YOU" and move one with my life. Extra love right back at you!

Mid 40s here- I actually find that dewy foundations look more flattering on the skin as I age. The trick for me is lightly powdering areas where fine lines and creasing occur. I thought the foundation looked amazing on you despite the initial colour looking too peach and deeper than your skin tone.
@redshift1011

Same here exactly! In my personal experience, the more prestige clean products work out the best, probably because all of the ingredients sink into my skin quite evenly, which silicones never do.

"Just because it's new doesn't mean it's better." Thank you for that!!! I have a really hard time finding a bronzer that doesn't look like dirt on my face because I'm so pink & fair. I tried the Haus Labs bronzer & it's the best I've tried and I'm happy with it, but a friend told me about the Makeup by Mario new skin corrector, or whatever it's called. I've been hesitant. It's on my Maybe List, but I'm going to take it off. I'm happy with Haus Labs. WOOT WOOT!! SHOPPING LIST for THE WIN!!!!

If you don’t mind powder bronzers the flower beauty luminous bronzer in sunrise is amazing for my pale super pink/cool skin. Its not shiny or glittery but does have a subtle glow, I’d say it’s very similar to the hourglass ambient lighting bronzers but isn’t orange at all.

I picked up the Exa green corrector when it came out because of the gray-green color. I’ve been enjoying the product but I wish the doe foot was smaller; I have to be careful not to use too much. I am interested in your take on eye primers similar to the way you covered green color correctors. I've tried three but don't feel like I'm using them right, they look cakey or they sting or maybe I just don't have ✨the right one✨. I'd rather fix my technique than buy more things, so I'd love your take on the options.

Thanks for this review, and esp your candor re: the pigments. I have almost bought these sooo many times, but I just couldn't justify the price without knowing how they wear. I am literally obsessed with that gold/red/green multichrome, not the hyperbolic 'obsessed' beauty ppl use for anything that's nicish, but the 'I have to use all of my strength to resist buying this shade in every single formula that it is made' level of obsessed. Somehow I have managed to acquire it in several different formulas with noticeably different looks that all work, but that's still not enough! I want more! But knowing that this is patchy is all I need to be able to resist. Phew!

I wish nars would make a color corrector and a white in the soft matte concealer formula. I love the formula as eye primer and spot concealer so I think a white would be awesome for colorful shadows as a base and green would be great on the face. Idk if I'd like it in light peach under the eyes but maybe 🤔 I don't really enjoy it as undereye concealer though.

This is so interesting to me! I haven't used color corrector since I was a pimply faced teen, but this has definitely piqued my interest! I love that you always talk about undertones & skin tone. My mother is a medium skin tone with yellow undertones & my dad is the fairest of fair with strong red undertones. I am as fair as my father but have a neutral undertone that very much resembles eggshell paint swatches. I'm so happy salt ny just released shade n13 since n12 was just sliiiightly too dark & too warm for me!

I got the EXA High Fidelity foundation and the Jump Start primer last year. I stopped using the primer because I felt like the foundation went on my normally-moisturized skin better without it. Back when my complexion was in bad shape, I had to use more foundation to achieve the coverage I wanted, which did the lines around my nose and mouth NO favors. It would always gather there. My shade match is pretty good (I tried a BUNCH of sample cards), but my skin tone is slightly darker and pinker than yours. When I do wear the EXA foundation, I apply the minimum I can get away with, and I always set it with powder. So yeah...I don't know. I'll try to use it up. But I usually I opt for Sneaky Balm or my Rituel de Fille foundations instead. That green color corrector looks sensational, though. I mixed my own green color corrector with Salt NY products, and it ended up looking very much the same! The weird eye color creams remind me too much of the annoying experience I had with the KOSAS 10-Second liquid eyeshadow, so I'm happy I skipped those. Thanks for the love you give your community, and sending it right back to you.

What a great idea for a video! Thanks so much for doing this. I'm happy to see that the green color corrector worked for you! I think it looks really nice on you. I have had good luck using the Exa pink corrector on the dark circles under my eyes, though I still like the Jones Road face pencil (#6) and the new Bobbi Brown stick correctors better for that purpose. I found a good match for my skin in the Exa foundation (with the help of an online Credo makeup artist), but it was almost at the bottom of the range even though my skin is more "light" than "fair." They seem to have plenty of shades for people with darker skin but to have pretty much ignored those with lighter skins, and I never would have picked the shade that the Credo person suggested just from looking at the site. I do think it emphasizes my wrinkles slightly (I'm 57), but not nearly as much as some of the other foundations that I have tried. The best thing about it is that it does not include silicone, for those people who have decided to avoid that ingredient. I don't like it in general much more than you do, though. The big difference between the Exa primer and the others that you mention (Tatcha and ELF) is that the Exa one does not include silicone. Silicone is not a "dirty" ingredient at all (e.g. people are usually not allergic to it and it has not been shown in studies to be toxic), but the problem with it is that it puts a tight barrier layer on the skin that keeps it from being able to sweat and breathe freely, and that that can be bad for skin in general (e.g. causing it to break out). So while I'm not saying that the Exa primer is that great (I can think of several others without silicone that I like much better - e.g. Vapour, RMS, Beautycounter, Victoria Beckham), I don't think that comparing it to silicone-based primers is ideal since this one has a different goal. Exa has a new primer now - Splash Zone Oil-Free Hydrating Primer - that I have not tried, by the way.
@Lisa_Petrison
@Lisa_Petrison 2 года назад
I've seen almost nothing from beauty influencers about Vapour and was surprised at how much I liked everything from them once I finally got around to trying the brand. Maybe that would be worth a try for you. The Honest products are mostly quite good and also are quite affordable, and (apart from the blushes) seem to get hardly any discussion on You Tube either. So I think that could be another line for you to do a deep dive on. I also like most of the Jane Iredale products quite a lot. They are an English brand and do really well with fairer shades and so they might work better for you than a lot of brands out there. Kackie talks about RMS once in a while but other than that they tend to be underdiscussed as well, in my opinion.

I have oily skin, and this foundation still works for me. I lightly set it with powder and it looks beautiful all day. But I never feel like I look too oily. I love that it’s lightweight. I love the undertone of the shade I have (Liam I think) but I think I got a half shade too deep for me. But I also find I can build it to medium coverage. I was surprised that you found it only gave you a sheer to light coverage. Because I find right off the bat it gives a solid light to medium coverage, and build it up to a solid medium.

Hey Hannah, if you see this, I am torn between picking up this green color corrector from Exa or their yellow version. I have a medium warm/olive complexion with redness just in my cheeks. Many years ago I tried a green color corrector but felt it resulted in a very pale effect (as you explained in this video, it probably had a strong white base.) Last year, I tried the fit glow yellow “eye bright” as a color corrector and it can work in the winter, but again is too light in the summer to work with my complexion. Do you think the exa green could be more flexible with darker skin tones? Or have you tried the exa yellow corrector as well? Many thanks for your fantastic content, it has truly opened my eyes to thinking about my purchasing habits ❤️

Your discussion of your skin color as (not just pale, not just neutral, but also) *desaturated* has been a transformative realization for me. It's like a switch flipped in my brain and suddenly all my shade-matching woes made sense. I would go around Sephora trying all the little testers of concealer and being like, "Nope too pink, nope too yellow, nope too peach" and getting nowhere but never fully understanding why. Now I know to look for those grey undertones.

I found that in the humid and sunny climate of where I live (average summer temp of 90° F), the Exa made me look so oily and greasy, and I have dry eczema riddled skin. It was such an odd time. I will say however, if you're a neutral-warm leaning deep olive, the undertone of shade 220 is a very good one and is my best match aside from the Lisa Eldridge in shade 23.

I wonder if the liquid shadows were reformulated for them to perform so differently from when you used the other one. Just a thought, not that it helps anything just curious 🤨

Unrelated, but have you tried Nudestix blush in BAREBACK? I think it’s the dead bubblegum you’re looking for.

I don't really like any undereye color corrector because it looks dry af especially in the corner where it meets my eyelids. That definitely could be my skin but how do you get rid of that on your eyes. Eye primer doesn't do it either typically, just color corrector. Green color correctors haven't been fabulous either because they're either waxy and greasy or dry. There's no in between.

Have you heard of Bodyography? I’ve seen many products on a few of MUAs Instagrams that I follow and I’m super curious. I guess since it seems to be geared towards professionals, the website doesn’t have swatches or pictures of ppl wearing their products, but I’ve seen some very intriguing IG posts that have piqued my color obsession.

This foundation sounds like it really needs setting down because it's so oily it settles worse into texture/lines. Cream foundations can be like this as well. I know you use powder to set certain places, but you might need to powder that foundation with a heavier hand if you ever return to it. When I set RCMA foundation I use a dry sponge or a puff and really press the powder in before dusting it away with a really soft hand. At the end when I've finished my makeup I go back and buff in an extra layer of powder to meld everything together and make the foundation last. The eye shadow looks like a lost cause, though. Yikes.

Oh! And I HATE the color melts. No matter what I do, they always look so bad. They all creased on me, they are so patchy, don’t blend, they don’t build (on themselves or on anything else), the glitters fall out all over the place. I cannot fathom even trying to use these anywhere else on the face other than the eyes other. I was sent all shades and I gave them away. Shocked and disappointed at how awful they were.

I wanted so badly for this to be an everyday foundation, but it made me (56) look like the crypt keeper. Additionally, my fair pinky skin requires me to do both a lavender primer to cancel the yellow/peach and some green corrector for other parts of my face. I'm just not willing to do gala-level prep for an everyday product. Hard pass.

I guess if the foundation is too dewy I just powder the parts I want to be less dewy? I don’t expect the foundation to magically know what parts of my face I want matte. 😅
