It's crazy how much RU-vid has changed over the years in terms of making money. 5 years ago barley anyone would have been talking about this stuff, merchandise from RU-vidrs still only meant clothing, but now the money you can make from branching out of RU-vid is so insane!!! CPM is NOT cost per 1,000 views, its cost per 1,000 impressions of your ads. If you have one view on your video, but have 3 ad placements - and all three serve up an ad, that is 3 total impressions for one video view.

This was so eye opening! We’ve had a recent blow up recently on RU-vid (and are now at 170k subscribers) and feel like we could easily be full time we just need to figure out how to diversify our income more. We make commentary/comedy videos and are struggling with finding new sources of revenue besides our Adsense. Do you have any videos on this or have any tips for us? Even finding brand deals seems to be impossible without a manger- that we don’t have yet. Great video!! :)

I’m focussed on the small milestones right now but aiming high. Being English (living in Canada) I speak too fast for a lot of people. That's a great mindset to have. Everyone thinks youtube is a sprint but it's actually a marathon! And yes keep doing research while you are making videos...I do that same thing and it really keeps my motivation and consistency up and helps me not get discouraged.

the only thing I hate about youtube is waiting until the video is uploaded + processed and then fill out all the description and tags. Over time its just a non brainer.. :D besides that absolutely love the platform and creating content!

Yesssss girl, I love that you push home what creators should really be focusing on: affiliates and paid products. Ads make some nice bonus money, but it's almost impossible to scale!

I love your videos! They are so much more entertaining than the other guys making these videos. I love how open and transparent you are too. Plus you are a lot nicer to look at than the other guys making these videos. I was curious how you even get started with affiliate marketing as well as how to create a product to sell. I haven’t been able to work for a while because of Covid and I really need to start making money as soon as possible.
