Yes...we're talking about Danica Patrick. For a lot of people, she has a reputation of being a perpetual wrecker. Is this warranted, though? With everything she has achieved throughout her career, does she deserve more respect than she is given and more importantly, what is her legacy in motorsport?

Gustavo Monteiro what’s hilarious is that if you look at NASCAR ratings, late season races have actually lost popularity. The entire purpose of the “playoffs” was to get interest during football season, when nascar was historically winding down at boring, generic tracks. It took until just this year for them to say “hey maybe people don’t like seeing 1.5 mile tri ovals that are nearly flat out every race”, too. I’m an American and I’ve no idea how nascar became preferred to Indy car in retrospect.

As a female racing fan...... Thank you. I was never a huge fan of hers, but still. This is by far the fairest assessment of her driving I've seen in ages. She was not as good as some, but better than a lot, and she rightfully owns some records. I'm an Indy local, and one of the years during her time at AA I went out for practice. .....Never before had I seen so many young girls among the fans at the track (and I've been going out for practice since the early '80s}. More than that, they were *excited*. Utterly thrilled. Just because someone showed them that girls can race in the Indy 500. And let me tell ya, that made me so unbelievably happy, after *years* of taking crap for being a chick who loves cars & racing. Their introduction to IMS was having a gal to cheer for, while mine, around age 10-11, was having to stick to my Dad like glue & being yelled at more than once to " Show us yer tits!!!". (Really. That;s the main thing I remember about my first visit to the track.) So yeah, she wasn't the greatest, and yeah she could have an attitude. But she was good enough to get a whole new group of kids interested in racing, and that's pretty awesome.

The sentiment is good, but “better than a lot” really isn’t true. Not a complete failure in Indycar, only slightly below average (think Marco Andretti) As for NASCAR, her pace and results were well well off her teammates and showed little signs of improvement. She was given far more chances than any other driver putting up those results If your idea of better is in actually competing in two of the top echelons of Motorsport, than I agree, but she was often near the bottom of the talent level in the respective series themselves

Paved what way for female in racing? If anything she overshadowed them and made females in motorsports look ridiculous. It's crazy how strong the media played into shaping her image. If a man performs the way she did, he would have been replaced long ago. This is motorsport we're talking about, you get replaced when you're not good enough and even if you're good enough, you're still at risked of getting replaced. If a man behaves the way she did, he would've been so unmarketable but apparently she's hot so she got away with it. If anyone really paved the way for female in open wheel racing, it's Susie Wolff the last woman who drove an F1 car. Unfortunately she wasn't as marketable as Danica. If she was as famous as her, she would've gotten a seat in F1. Heck Danica was an awful driver yet people believed she should've been in F1 because the media frauds said so🙄

Unfortunately, women have yet to make any serious impact on top level professional motorsports that involves turning. The NHRA has more women than I can name winning races and championships at all levels. The women of the NHRA have massive appeal to young girls/women who, aspire to, and become professional drivers. Funny story - just last week, someone replied to a comment I left regarding Danica on a video TWELVE YEARS AGO pointing out that Danica ultimately ended up being "the most successful female in auto racing history." I responded by naming four more successful women just off the top of my head - Shirley Muldowney(whom Josh really ought to take a look at), Michelle Mouton, Courtney Force-Rahal, and Brittany Force. To which this absolute GENIUS decided to claim they don't count because they didn't do 200+ MPH for hours on end. Buddy, you said most successful in AUTO RACING history - not circuit racing, not oval racing, AUTO RACING. You don't get to make a declaration like that and then nitpick over the types of racing the more successful ladies partook in. Danica IS the most successful woman in INDYCAR history - this is undeniable fact. But to say she's the most successful woman in all of auto racing is not only false, it's taking a gigantic shit over the careers of other successful women - some of whom helped knock down barriers that could have prevented Danica from getting a chance in the first place had they not done so. And of course when I pointed these things out, the genius who thought making such a declaration was a good idea had no response to give. Danica is not a bad driver by any measurement - even on fuel economy a bad driver will never win in IndyCar. But let's give her props for what she IS and not what she isn't.

Every female driver, that you mentioned, had success in only one series of auto racing. BTW, auto rallying is coming as close as possible to time between check-in stations and NOT racing against other car to cross the finish line first. Danica drove race cars in more than one series of auto racing. Do you really believe that you know more than the auto racing history records data professionals? If so, you are greatly wrong. www.stewarthaasracing.com/team-10-career-highlights-backup/

@@sergeantmasson3669 Guy said "most successful female in all of motorsport." Doesn't matter that Danica tried her hand at multiple motorsports, her successes still fall short of the others in overall results. Motorsports professionals by and large do NOT consider Danica the most successful female driver in the ENTIRETY of motorsport. They consider her the most successful female driver in the history of INDYCAR, which she is.

@@FormulaFox Danica did become the most successful female race car driver in auto racing history and your allegations/opinions can't prove otherwise. BTW, name one female race car driver that earned more than Danica Patrick's $12+ million from driving race cars. Good luck with that. There aren't any.

@@sergeantmasson3669 Danica is NOT the most successful, and every attempt to prove such falls flat on it's face. Tee fact that the best you can find to back your argument was the Stewart-Haas career stat list, and not a proper analysis of those stats by someone in the know, only underlines this. The only "success" Dancia had over other women in motorsport is in IndyCar, and marketability. That's the only reason she made more money(adjusted for inflation) than other, more successful, women in motorsport. Marketability makes a HUGE impact on how much money one can make regardless of their ability - far less skilled drivers than Danica have made more money than she did. This is why when people talk about "successful" drivers, they are generally NOT talking about how much money they make. They are referring to on-track results, and Danica's DO NOT support the notion that she is the best female driver in the ENTIRE HISTORY MOTORSPORTS. Just to put things in perspective, people with an unusually high opinion of Danica tend to claim she achieved the highest points finish by a woman in NASCAR Cup history. In reality, Janet Guthrie holds that honor with a 23rd place points finish. People like you will try to bend reality to fit the narrative that Danica is the greatest woman to ever race, but in the process all you end up doing is taking a gigantic stinking shit all over the successes of other women in motorsport. Danica is a far more talented driver than her detractors want to claim, but let's recognize her for what she IS. Her accomplishments are sufficiently significant when analyzed for what they are and do NOT need to be overblown into something they aren't.

@@FormulaFox Your own personal opinions don't prove squat. Guaranteed that Danica could outdrive/outrace you anywhere/anytime. How many professional auto races have you ever driven in, CUPCAKE? Before judging others, make sure that you are perfect first. Danica earned $12+ million as a race car driver and she has a net worth of $80+ million.

You still have to give props to Danica. In a sport where you rarely see a woman, she did pretty well. Many Indycar drivers don't even win a single race, at least she won one.
