Well that was a nice video. I like the camera position and the picture of you looking out of the window shame he was not looking where he was going.😢😢 Maybe a subject for can I rebuild her 😉
Thanks for sharing, Cliff! This really was a nice day of flying and it's good to see that you take those little mishaps lightly. I hope she'll be salvageable! Alle the best, Frédéric
Thanks Frederic, the older a model gets the less upset you become, it was interesting to see how the tree seemed to draw be into it's welcoming branches 😁👍
Hello Cliff...first time watching...Love It!! So...first launch of the day was scary...your first was great. The only experience I have doing this was towing up a Gentle Lady with an overpowered Fun Cub...nothing like what you guys are doing. It's enough to know that its hard to coordinate and do well, and you fellas do it very well! The onboard camera was great...like the pic of you as the pilot...nice touch. Gorgeous country you are flying over. Nice channel...glad Ian put us in the same space. Sub'd and looking forward to more! Oh...and trees are A holes.
Great video, no wonder you hit a tree, the pilot was looking behind himself. Seriously sorry to see that but it's an opportunity for a repair video. Thanks Cliff.
He was being chased by a drone I suspect Dancandan, I couldn't have hit it better if I'd been trying. The repair video will have to wait, too many projects too little time at the moment 🙂
Brilliant relaxing music again! spot on! This is a Great video. Very insperational especially as with the inclement weather and lockdowns. I Love Gliders Cliff, in fact I have fly more RC gliders than planes. (wiggles)
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes I think I may maiden my new Foka Seven planeprint 3d printed scale model electric powered glider today. The wind looks far today calmer than of late. Ive been working on it for days. My mates one flew great untill he lost site of it crashed and it broke into peices. The plastic (PETG) it is printed from is rather brittle. He has re -printed it though, so two to fly today. That is the beauty of these 3d models if you break it you just print another once you have paid for the stl files. I think I'll take some piccies first. Wish me luck and a soft landing mate , I may need it. Wiggles
The onboard camera views are really great. It feels just like flying up there with you. Pity about the oak landing though, it shows that it is not always perfect. I hope its fixable.
It's a lovely bit of countryside isn't it DC, I do enjoy the aerial shots. The damage is quite extensive, I won't have time for a while, we'll have to see 👍
No that didn't just happen? Darn Cliff sorry to see this one. Really like these Aero Tow videos. Trees like to have fun too. Looks like you all had a great outing, Jeff in LA USA
It was a great day actually Jeff, being clipped onto the tow line and ready to accelerate is a fantastic moment. I couldn't be any more excited if I was really sitting in the cockpit 😁
It happens doesn't it? It's probably going to be better if I just build a replacement, the amount of damage is more than you'd think. How are your repairs going? 🙂
Comiserations ! I did have an event like that a couple of weeks ago, but my model is still lering at me on the other side of the field 60 ft up, and no hope of recovery ! But it's not alone there. My excuse is old age and depth perception ! What's yours ! I'm looking forward to the repair video, Eric
I have the same excuse Eric. One of our members was able to get a friend with a cherry picker to get his model down successfully by the way. Not sure there's going to be a repair video on this one, I have kits queuing up! 👍
Thank Mike, I haven't removed the covering yet but there's lot of ugly splits of the main spar that will definately require major surgery and lots of unseen cracks etc, it may mean new wings!
Your videos are always an inspiration: I wish we could have events like this here in my neck of the woods. I have a 1/3 scale Grunau Baby, but no one qualified to tow it in our club.
Looked like a great day Cliff, still trying to figure out if you put your face of the pilot in the glider. Hope she was ok after the tree hugging session. 👍🏻
@Mike Waller It was a shame Mike, but a great day. Perfect weather too. I could have sworn I was in front of the tree, no one was more surprised than me when it turned out not to be the case 👍😁
Not surprised the glider went into the tree, the pilot never looks ahead! 🙄😉🤢😟 always looking left. Good vid. Any idea why the motor fell off the bird of time? I suspect the prop broke off as it fell off and that wasn't the cause?
Actually Bob if you looked at the model from the starboard side the pilot is looking over his right shoulder but the end result's there for all to see Re the BoT, your diagnoses could be correct, if the motor screws pulled out the prop could have broken when it hit the hatch, but then the pod would be intact, whereas if the prop just broke the vibrations would have been enough to shake the whole lot apart? We'll have the get the AIB involved 👍
@Cliff Harvey RC Planes Definitely a job for the AIB. It was going so well up to that point. Nice to see the patchwork of fields from the air. No doubt you'll fix it too! 😉
Well that was a shame, really. After you told me you crashed the plane, I was expecting to see fragments. But seems maybe it's fixable? So sorry for the loss of the plane :(
Thanks Jerry, everything's fixable of course, just depends on timings if I can get round to stripping off the covering and making an assessment as to the viabiility of repairs or bee builds 🤔
Probably not David, the damage is quite substantial, it's an old model so maybe now is the time to say farewell. On the plus side the fuselage repair I did last week is fine although I didn't mean to test it quite so soon 😁
