Seeing the weather conditions they are working in, I can’t imagine being a soldier in those mud holes fighting a war.

@@donwright3427 Wtf are you talking about! If anything the weather conditions during the War was more extreme than today. Extremely cold winters with temperatures going down to -50, Long periods of Autumn and Spring Rains that turned everything into mud, very warm summers with temperatures in the Advance on Caucasus in 1942 going up to +60 degrees in the Sun.

To think that all that stuff has been in the ground for at least 80 years is amazing.

Seem to be a heck of a lot of these dugouts my question is did someone go fill them all in and leave all that stuff or just nature taking over ?

Secondo me i soldati tedeschi si sono arresi e hanno abbandonato tutto!!

Maybe they had to leave in a hurry and didn't have time to pack?

I have read that after the war they just bulldozed the bunkers in because there was so many of them.
@kk5fe

@@Offroader451-rm5jzprobably in some areas where people lived. These areas where they are digging are in the middle of the forest. No one bulldozed there. Nature is taking over

Most if not all of the wooden structures (temporary) wouldn't stand this long especially if it's retaining dirt. Definitely nature taking over, or a little bit of both maybe sacrificing the things they can't carry. God bless.
