That little Ford Ferguson tractor brought back many memories. It has to be somewhere around 75 years old. Used to drive one to chain harrow our pastures back in the late 50's. Great information on different corn storage methods, good video work.

I love seeing all those tractors at the school. Our local FFA in Pleasantville Ohio does the same thing every spring as well. Seeing some of those older JD’s is so cool. We have my father-in-laws 2440 with the 146 bucket, but the one that gives me goosebumps every time it turns over is his 1954 Farmall 400. Keep up your great work!

So cool that the FFA has drive your tractor to school day. It's equally as cool that you let Gage and his friend drive two pieces of your equipment to school. That's a lot of money rolling down the road. Brought back lots of memories of my childhood. The whole family was involved with farming in one way or another. My uncle Ed ran the grain elevator for the cooperative. In addition, he delivered loads of fertilizer and other items to the farms. Grandpa owned the Massey Harris, and Oliver implement store. Several cousins worked on the family farm. One uncle owned the welding shop, and a welding truck to make repairs on site. Good times, for sure.

Thank you so much, Laura, for covering the FFA Drive a Tractor to School Day. Events like these do so much to keep the profession of farming alive and well. Adding a red tractor to your operation would be a great idea. The International 1066 was, arguably, the best tractor that International made. The 5488 was a very nice tractor to run and see. It was powerful and smooth and was on its way to keeping International afloat among all of its problems as a company. A bright new Red CaseIH Axielflow combine wouldn't be bad, either.

Absolutely add a red tractor! International 656, 786, 1086, diesels or 504 gas are the tractors I have had experience with and all were good tractors. I have a 1962 504 now.

Great video and especially the two of you allowing Gage to drive your equipment to school. I am sure he was honored to do this. My former ag students were never allowed to do this because the school large corp. thought that some of the city kid would get hurt. I told my Supt. that he needed to get with the times. He didn't like my comment.

Loved tractor day! The 1486 International was well represented and IH 1066 was my favorite tractor. Drove the 1066 to high school. A guy drove a Steiger tractor. End of the day we got out half an hour early so the tractors didn't hold up the school buses. Slowed the buses down though because we all went down to the DQ in N. Manchester before driving the tractors home :) Great memories!

I'm in Arkansas (rice country, and mosquitoes). Back in the 70's the state required farmers to take a tractor driving course and pass in order to be able to drive them on the highways. The state worked with all the FFA chapters to setup testing stations at the schools on the weekends. You would just drive huge tractors around an orange cone trail and twisting and turning between them. It was fairly difficult to prevent cone damage from the rear tires if one did not have a fair understanding of geometry and angles of approach. After 2 years I think they found it just wasn't worth the trouble for the state to continue that process. Great video Laura and Grant. It is heart warming to see you two lend your equipment to the boys. You rock..!!

Like this video too; and thanks again for an instructional video; this time showing some corn & soybean storage methods that us Midwestern farmers use. Yes, you and Grant do need a red tractor on your farm. Sounds like Gage is a "gearhead" like me. When I started farming I bought a brand new IH, 1066 (no cab); and put a chrome straight pipe on it immediately after the tractor was delivered. I then went up and down the road and to a little, small town (pop.75) to show it off. As soon as I thought it was broke-in I turned the stock, injection pump all it would do. Washed and waxed that tractor often. You can probably understand why I so enjoyed the "Red Power Roundup" last summer near you in Grand Island.

This was very cool to see the big pile of corn. You wanted to know some info on the International tractor. Stay away from the era of the 886 or that 986. The transmission has problems of locking in to park and high at the same time. I worked on a farm and we had a 886 and in the 4 years that I worked there it was in the shop 3 times for that reason. That 856 are good tractors

It has been awhile since seeing a 756 and a 986. The 786 is a late 60's to mid 70's while the 986 was a short lived 70's model. The companion to the 786 was more times than not the 1556 as both were introduced at the same time. You are right, both are in good condition. PS watch out for the hydraulics overheating during operation.
