It works really good. I’ve used it several time since that video. The bearings make it super smooth.

Great content. Detailed design and build of the line bore jig would be awesome.

Ok. I have some improvements I want to make for the line boring bar and when I do that I’ll plan on making a video.

@@jeremydiy Looks like you have "an apprentice..." ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g2pvjVsq-cU.html&ab_channel=CuttingEdgeEngineeringAustralia

Haha. I would definitely be his apprentice. He has a lot of cool tools. Thanks for sharing the link.

Jeremy, nice build, great video. Have always been curious about about the linkage geometry that moves excavator buckets but have never been curious enough to study it further. Now that I'm actually looking for a breakdown I can't find it anywhere. Need to utilize this linkage geometry in an application totally unrelated to excavation but wish to understand the physics and geometry of it first, so I can apply it correctly in a design. You have any clue which direction to point me so I can study it?

Unfortunately no. I didn’t do any math for this. I just put in the stand-off links and folded the bucket up then measured the distance between the two. There is a free CAD program called Onshape that you can build parts then assemble them to see how they work with each other. There is lots of RU-vid videos to help you learn. It has come in handy for me several times. You may be able to design your parts and test them out so you know what works.

Hi. A very interesting movie. Maybe in my old Komatsu PC30-1 it will be time to make a new one too, because now I have some welded ones. - greetings from Poland , Paweł.

Can the H / bucket link be refurbished? Mine is a little worn out. Got a new pin and new seals, bushings were still fine…but the seals are 5mm and stick out a little now :((

Ya a machine shop can weld and machine an old link and make it like new.

what material do you use for the bushings ? what type of steel ? nice job
@jeremydiy
@jeremydiy 2 года назад
I just use mild steel for both the bushings and pin. It’s easy for me to machine and I found that if you keep them greased they hold up pretty good. I don’t put a lot of hours on my machines so it works well for me.

Thanks. I built this out of necessity because I couldn’t buy one. I also had the machine there to do a mock up on.

Can you do a video about the line borer setup please ? I'm really interested

I broke my cutter for it so right now it’s out of service. I’m going to re-work the cutter design but that probably won’t happen until I need it again. I got some of my ideas from searching “line boring” on You Tube.

hi n good job and the perpose you made this link thingy is to.......bend your bucket more ?
@jeremydiy
@jeremydiy 3 года назад
The purpose of this was to replace the factory linkage that the machine was missing and I could not buy from the dealer. Without this linkage I cannot curl the bucket.

How you assured holes are parralel?
@jeremydiy
@jeremydiy Год назад
That’s why I put it on the machine to tack weld it. Doing that made sure they were parallel and fit on the machine.

Very good video of the build. Thanks very much. Here is a more recent build of a somewhat larger H-link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g2pvjVsq-cU.html (This is part 2 of the build by CEE Australia).
