I have looked at a couple of VBA/VBE intros and they don't reference my favorite way to open the VBE window - right-click on a workbook sheet tab and select View Code from the context menu.

Here is my challenging: I need to build VB Script/Macros to run over the sheet 1 and replace (under Item # column) 100 by Test 100 102 by Test 200 As you see the script has to "go" over sheet 2 to look for item name that associated with Item #100 and replace "100" in sheet 1 by "Test 100" and "102" by "Test 102". VBA only works on desktop version of Microsoft office. Being a Cd student, you should definitely try and save for a decent laptop. Nothing too fancy, Just one where you can code and do other things for your learning.

hi Leila, what is the difference between intellisense (pressing control + J) and complete word (pressing control + space). do they behave the same way and autocomplete the same things? i only use intellisense and sometimes some things are not autocompleted or don't show up in the intellisense list, or no list is displayed at all despite the code is accurate

Do you know how to create a "link" in excel such that, when the user presses it, it unfolds a certain number of columns (which are initially merged) and reversely. I want it to be just a typed phrase, not a button (I know how to do it using toggle button). Thanks a lot!
Chris, yes, you can create a button with an event that adjusts the Sheet object - unhiding/hiding columns and rows; dynamically or statically. Or, to suit your needs, you make an ActiveX TextBox, using the 'change' event; then am IF or WITH statement - just waiting for the desired phrase to be entered, then execute whatever afterwards.

There's only one way to "break" a VB Project (form the Project Explorer), and that's with either downloaded or online Hex editor. Yes, people can convert the XLSM/XLSB files to ZIP, then use a Hex editor to unlock it - there's no way to make the project 100% inaccessible... However, perhaps using Windows API functions, you can write something to detect when the VB Editor is open, then to automatically close it....
Great intro video! Would you have one on docking/resizing the vbe windows. I have managed to "undock" them and they overlap now. The check boxes are all marked under Tools>options as being docked, but they are not snapped in. I've tried resizing them and while functional, they just look messy. :P
:) it's challenging and fun & I agree, it's not something that makes perfect sense immediately. Takes a lot of revisiting and learning and re-watching to get the hang of it (at least it was for me) But once it clicks, it's really useful. It also helps with logical thinking and problem solving skills.

Hi, I have a rather difficult question: I got a file Excel with activation macro. I use many conditional formatting and I wish that the interval of application would remain unchanged. I think that the problem are the macros but I obtain no effect registering a macro and setting the conditional formatting. Do you have any ideas? Thanks

Ka, make sure the macros fired are "Public" and not "Private." And, that the macro is reachable. To ensure a Global scope, you can put your macros in your "Personal" book - doing that, and making them Public, means those macros will be accessible in any Workbook you ever open; new or saved!

Once is a macro file-type (i.e. XLSM, XLSB) it will always be that way. You're asking how Microsoft Office interprets these macro-enabled files. That would depend on the Trust Center settings for that user. Depending on the organization, like mine does, they may have to enable content manually every time. Unless, they save locally, then no issue.... That okay?
