You mentioned that $2k USD is not enough to live like a "king". You should do a video on what it would cost to live like a "king" in Fortaleza. Huge penthouse overlooking the ocean, costs associated with a nice large SUV, eating out regularly, shopping often, one or two trips to other regions of Brazil each month, top of the line health insurance, etc. I think that for a couple it would be $5k-$7k USD but I am curious to hear your thoughts. I know many retirees who receive that much in SS+pensions and may want to live very well for the remaining years of their life.

Uhg. Isn't Salvador REALLY dangerous? Also, how do I say this..........I understand passport BROS have made that a popular spot but let's be honest. Those are all African American men and they have this idea that it's like wakanda or something. This blacky black cultural obsession. Salvador is the most strongly tied to black people but with that also comes the most crime...... Just like in America. We all know that the most heavily black populated areas are the most dangerous in the country like Memphis Tennessee as an example or Atlanta. So, Even though all of Brazil is dangerous you're tempting your fate when you go to a city like that especially if you yourself are not black

I loved my time in Fortaleza. The weather is amazing, the people are friendly, cost of living is better than southern Brazil, beautiful beach towns nearby, etc. Only downside is that it can get lonely if you come alone. I think Fortaleza is better for couples or someone who is fluent in Portuguese as few speak English.

Hello my friend. Yes, i would say Brazilians in general dont speak english fluently ... so lets learn the portuguese ;)

@@brazilian-native Agreed! Very important to learn the local language but if you come to Brazil with your spouse you won't be bored during the 6-18 months that it will take to become fully fluent.

I wasn´t impressed with Fortaleza at all. In the Northeast my choice would be Maceio. Better still Rio, either Barra da Tijuca or Recreio.

That's the beauty about Brazil, there is a city for everyone. Personally, I tried Barra Da Tijuca and it just wasn't for me. Fortaleza was my best experience in Brazil. Sao Paulo is not cheap but I also recommend it as long as you don't have to commute to work, can live in the higher end areas, and have the budget to travel to the beach once or twice a month. It is impossible to ever be bored in SP - no matter your interests, you will find it in SP.
