Excellent Digicam from the Year 2000! - Sony Cybershot DSC-S70

The Sony Cybershot DSC-S70 is a digicam released by Sony in the year 2000. I didn't know at all what to expect when trying this camera. It was a random flea market find and it took a while before I could locate a battery and a memory card. Once I did and actually could start using the camera I was quite surprised by it's image quality!

I recently got the s85 and it's great, you can definitely tell it was high quality for the time (and now). Picking up these old cyber shots really made me realize that Sony really makes a nice camera.

They are surprisingly good! Even though it's only 3mp the quality is good!

I hope it's not a sign that the sensor is failing (the lines show up in the photos sometimes...) Fortunately it's still working.

i just got this camera but cant find a way of transferring pictures to computer, i bought the wrong adapter and have a 8mb sony memory stick and and 64mb magic gate sony stick

I use a memory card reader to transfer the photos. The camera has a USB port, but a proprietary one, so it's not so easy to find the right cable.

Stop with the 'it has a Carl Zeiss lens' nonsense. Sony simply has a partnership with Zeiss to use their branding. Just like all other partnerships, Zeiss does not make the lenses, they just sign off on which products Sony put the Zeiss branding on. Which is probably everything Sony request to put the branding on, because they get a small cut of every sale and get design credit, when they did not really design or make the lens. The Zeiss branding is meaningless.

I'm using a third party battery since I couldn't find an original Sony. I don't have the camera with me right now, but I think the brand is Patona (np-fm50)
