I know people are going to compare this to the film, but it's important to know that stage acting and screen acting are very different to each other.

I don't think people realize that plays are intentionally overacted due to facial expressions and subtlety being difficult to see. People in the back row needs to also be able to understand what us happening on stage too

The laughter from the audience makes this look like a live-action sitcom.

This just goes to show how fantastic this concept, script/screenplay, and everything about this is. I can’t even watch this without tearing up. I just saw the film last night and I was not expecting to be moved as much as I was.

It's amazing how similar the crowd reactions were during the play and the movie, when I was in the cinema I was surprised how often people laughed, even when I personally wasn't amused. It was my first time in the cinema in years, so it was an interesting experience watching a movie with a bunch of strangers

Never forget that a really well acted and presented scene in a movie, maybe lasts like 5 mins for example, in reality, likely took several hours to film, maybe several days to film. You have the immersion created by the visual effects, cinematography, score, colour grading, depth of field, every, single, thing that you see and hear on that screen was placed there by an expert and the whole thing was pieced together by a team of people each experts in their individual field just so that scene will HIT you right. On stage, all you really have the actors, and the scripts. They have to get it right first time, and really hit you with what they have. Please don't judge actors by comparing theatre productions to movie productions.

I like how the tone changes so much between the play and the film.

This comes off a lot more comedic than I expected it seems the movie is going to be a lot more dramatic

I knew nothing about this play when I went to see the movie and I was caught completely off guard by this entire Amazing story. Way to make a grown man cry.

It's weird to see the audience laughing. The movie is way more depressing.

I hate the people who don't understand theater that come here to compare this play with a movie which is cut together with reshoots and multiple takes. This is a live show with a tiny budget. Stop insulting these people with your ignorance.

I love theater and cinema. It's important to show different versions and styles just as Shakespeare does.

Brendan Fraser makes this look like a middle school play. Fraser deserves all the awards.

Hello, I have been fascinated with the film adaptation, but I am also interested in seeing "The Whale" in these theatrical adaptations, where can I see them completely?

After watching the movie, i can honestly say that the film did it better. It's so weird because everything here is played for laughs but in the movie, it's really fucking seriously and dark which is supposed to be the right tone.

God the acting in this play is so hammy and over-the-top. The movie with Brendan Fraser will be like a breath of fresh air

Aronofsky turned the plate upside down with this one. Aint no one gonna hear laughing when the movie is playing yet here even the dialogue is being puncutated with the use of comedic oneliners.

Play acting is more difficult then movie because Actor in play had to it live on stage front everybody perfect with no redo if they mess up they have to keep going . And to the same performance and said the same lines over and over every day on how long the play run Movie actor do it once and it done

The red haired lady is not a smoker. She fiddles with the pack too much and waves her cigarette hand around like a drunk. Real smokers learned thats a great way to burn someone or something or toss ash all over the place. Flipping it around to the inside becomes a natural reflex and it would add more to her posture. She stares at it trying to light it awkwardly. A real smoking nurse would flick it on with the same routine like she empties bedpans. Dirty business but it is what it is. She smokes to keep the smell of death at bay. Nurses. Odd beautiful creatures. Mud covered diamonds. Anyhow, cupped smoke portrays introversion. It looks pretentious from the outside but every smoker sees the physical logic behind it. And yes it looks cool. I would recommend her to light her friends cigarettes so she doesn't have to smoke but can still learn to naturalize the movement. Been smoking ever since I was able to buy them and I wholly accept the gesture of lighting up is like a small prayer to the god of death.

I am outraged, absolutely outraged that the makers of this film did not use a real 600 lb actor to play this role. This is the equivalent of the evil practice of cultural appropriation. This is not acceptable! I want this film banned!
