I love Chonda Pierce and her testimony. I suffer from depression, anxiety, and a lot of physical problems. Since I found Jesus, I still am disabled, but I am able to laugh at my everyday life, and find joy in my sorrows. It is nice to have a role model like Chonda.
Got to see Chonda in person this year. She was hysterical! Had us laughing hard one minute, and then crying the next! And then I got to meet her after. She was so sweet!
Chonda, wow I can't tell you what you have done to boost my moral. You make me laugh when all I want to do is cry. You are an inspiration and have taught me to laugh in the darkness. May God truly bless you.
I have chronic depression too. When my husband of 30 years retired, we had his retirement party on Friday Sept. 1, 2005. He was my best friend, the love of my life, father our children, and we had 6 grandchildren. One week later, the following Friday, he had a heart attack. Just like that gone. No children in town or grandchildren, I lost my way. I was severe;y depressed and didn't know it. I lived like this for 5 years until I became so sick and depressed, I couldn't get out of bed, didn't care if I ate, all of the life was out of me. I had been baptized when I was 12 years old. Faithful christian. Yet, here I was. In this condition. I finally went to a Psychiatrist and have been seeing him for 10 years. He has helped me so much. Chonda is so right when she says there is a stigma that christians have if you take antidepressants, or seek professional help. I was told to pray more, that I didn't have enough faith, all kinds of cruel things. If we truly have a christian spirit, we need to help our brothers and sisters in our church families, not make them feel worse about themselves. I attend church, pray, visit the sick, send cards, do what I can to help. The Good Lord has blessed me over and over again. Even the loss of my dear husband was a lesson learned. LOVE one another, do good even to your enemies, we are only on this earth for a short time. With the Father and Christ our Saviour throughout eternity.
@SchraderRose As a person who's a huge fan of crude, obnoxious, offensive, swear-ridden humor, I can say... I agree. Chonda is wonderful. Her delivery, subject matter, personality, and charm really sell her as a good comedian, regardless of style. She's not a shock comic like Gottfried, an insult comic like Lampanelli, or a counter-culture comic like Carlin, but she's a clean, Christian comedian who happens to be VERY hilarious.
Lol. "I call it boot dancing. My daughter says I left out the y." LOL. That just trips me out. This woman is amazing and anyone who thinks otherwise... Well we don't care. (:
