The man in the red truck that found the hammer was J. Michael Straczynski, who wrote many of the Thor comic books. He was also the creator and writer for the Babylon 5 tv series. In Norse mythology, Loki was the God of Mischief.

"I'm not sure what [Loki's] motivations are, he's really hard to read." Get used to that. LOL. It's one of the things that makes Loki so compelling. Tom Hiddleston auditioned for Thor, but he was absolutely PERFECT for Loki.

The blue, glowing box was "The Casket Of Ancient Winters" in mainline Marvel continuity. When accidentally broken open on Midgard (Earth), it plunged the entire world into a devastating winter until it could be reassembled. It was a worldwide event, and brought together Marvel heroes from many different comics to band together against the threat. The Fantastic Four's Human Torch and Spider-Man were the ones who finally got the Casket reassembled.

For order of watching things, including the tv shows, the simplest approach is release order. One could draw a chart of what things depend on what things and thus be able to improvise a viewing order with a lot more control over what to watch next, but that is probably overkill.

Neil Gaiman did a book a few years back (the audio version of which he read himself) on Norse Mythology, just fyi. Loki is often portrayed as evil, but I tend to think of him as Chaotic Neutral. He’s very much in it for himself, and he is capable of being quite a baddy. But he’s also capable of being good when it suits him. He’s very intelligent, and very cunning

Some trivia. First, a small bit of physics. At around @41:46, when Mjolnir is heading for Thor, there’s a small white puff which appears around it in flight. That’s probably meant to signify just how fast it’s moving; it looks like a vapor cone, larger versions of which are sometimes seen on jet aircraft moving at or near transonic speeds. “Vapor Cone” has a Wikipedia page, if you’re interested. Next, a cameo: the man getting out of the truck @16:28 is J. Michael Straczynski. He’s written some Thor comics (which I’ve not read, but I believe are well regarded). He also created and wrote almost every episode of Babylon 5 (a show which has a devoted fan base even 20+ years after it was broadcast) and both developed Sense8 with the Wachowskis and has a writing credit on virtually every episode of it. Glad you enjoyed this; looking forward to more. Cheers!

Chronologically, there's close to 20 movies to watch before you get to the Loki TV series, including a couple of Thor movies. Loki is... unpredictable. And that makes him a fan favorite. I do think that when Thor lost his power, he did not drop all the way down to human power levels, but to average Asgardian power. Still strong and durable, and mostly immune to human weapons, but not his full power as the crown prince of Asgard.

Hi Andelain! I'm new. The "so cheesy, so good" quality of Thor is something I love as well. It's heroism. Direct, unapologetic heroism, done with talented actors and top notch production values. All the Marvel movies have that. They are stories about superheroes after all. Too many of our contemporary stores are just shitty people being shitty to other people, and themselves. You don't get goosebumps watching Succession. At least, I don't. So, For me these films are a great opportunity to indulge in unapologetic sentimentality. There ain't nothing wrong with a happy ending! Enjoy!

"Your largest dog, then." In the myths, Thor is a very simple guy: strong, brave, admirable. His brother Loki is more complex. In a Native American myth, Coyote plays the role of the trickster. In the various ancient, larger "mythic" stories, sometimes a trickster is the only one able to do the thing that needs to be done. But much more often it's the first type, the Hero.

As others have commented, Loki is complex. Boiled down to the bare minimum (and then some), he has extreme sibling rivalry and daddy issues, possibly since Odin's love for him seemed slightly forced compared to that for Thor. I've come to see this movie both as the Redemption of Thor and the Tragedy of Loki, both of them starting out as wanting Odin's approval in the wrong way.

I don't know if this was simply uploaded or viewed out of order, but Thor should be viewed after Iron Man 2, in the MCU release order. It's not a big deal in this case, both movies are pretty well self-contained... but the post-credits scene in Iron Man 2 was a prelude to Thor.

I feel that Thor losing his power, maybe he was okay with that. But Odin banishing him... that would have been the shock. But... he assumed that might be temporary, not so bad. Then when he touched the hammer and it would not move for him, that's when he knew... he was no longer worthy. This calls for a cry to the heavens. He was dejected from that, but then Loki comes to tell him it was all his fault that the allfather is dead. Maybe this done him in. The tricks of Loki cuts deep. In the order of events, the bar came later, yes? In which Thor says he was directionless, perhaps turned a new page unwritten upon.

Loke isn't really evil, but he is the god of mischief and lies, among other things. Tho technically not a god, being a Jotun and all, but considering he wasn't thors brother, but odins (foster- and bloodbrother), I guess we can live with marvel taking a lot of liberties with the source material.

Some help about the movies without any spoilers whatsoever. Don't think about next movies or series and assume stuff. Loki seires could be before thor 1 or could be about kid loki , you cant assume anything by the knowledge of upcoming movies or series . For example, ironman 3 could be another character inside the suit not tony stark (far fetched example just to make my point.) Also bifrost gone means no space travel anywhere . There are in mcu (no spoilers) jumping points that you can enter and travel longer distances by it (there are octagon shape) but other than that , even a spaceship can't travell without a jump to far . Loki is hurt and feels betrayed because he was always felt second in preference of his father and now he knows why. So he became from trickster to full revengeful and angry.

As far I see it, Loki is a bad guy. It's all about him and what he wants. He's a complex character and sometimes I feel sorry for him. In this movie he wants his father's acceptance as well as his father's throne. He also seeks not only power but sometimes vengeance also and is willing to destroy whoever (Thor, etc.) and whatever gets between him and what he wants. He's also willing to make alliances with whoever might help him get what he wants -- in this movies the frost giants -- and then betrays them in the end. Some people are attracted to the bad guy in these kind of movies. (Even before we meet Anakin, people were attracted to Darth.) I'm not. I don't plan to watch the Loki series because I don't want to see the bad guy elevated and rooted for as if he's the hero.
