I’ve been tying my tripods this same way for years. It is kinda funny, I know a bunch of knots but always seem to use the same two or three. I do like the chain idea. I’ve never had a problem with just hanging from 550 cord, but could potentially see one. Thanks for the channel, I’ve finally found someone like minded

That chain and hook has been on a lot of adventures with me. I have a little pouch I tuck it into and store away inside my kettle and it gives me peace of mind. The chain itself is only about a foot long, just enough to be able to take some licks when closest to the fire, so it doesn’t add any noticeable weight to my overall getup.
